The other brothers have always been more talented than they're given credit for - pretty much all of them are/were capable singers/producers/songwriters/live performers, together and independently. There doesn't need to be a 'let's relentlessly compare them to Michael' dimension to everything they do.
@n1cklback477
@n1cklback477 9 жыл бұрын
Kind of does. He was the lead singer of the band. For comparisons sake, It's like not having Robbie Williams or Gary Barlow in Take That.
@gavinlenaghan7491
@gavinlenaghan7491 9 жыл бұрын
+N1CKLBACK Of course there doesn't. They're artists in their own right - just look at Jermaine's long solo career (two R&B #1s, a string of top 10/20/30 pop hits). People don't say of other moderately successful R&B acts, "Ah, but they weren't as good as Michael Jackson..." but they feel the need to say that of the other Jacksons due to a mere accident of birth.
@Nickleby2
@Nickleby2 9 жыл бұрын
+Gavin Lenaghan So unfair. People also forgot that he was a writer and producer for other artist too. he was running Motown in Berry Gordys absent and is responsible for some great artist, including Stephney Mills and the DeBarge brothers. Some of the song Jermaine wrote for them are classics. He also was responsible for the shaping of one Whitney Houston.
@gavinlenaghan7491
@gavinlenaghan7491 9 жыл бұрын
+Nickleby2 He produced a great album for Syreeta (The Spell) that sadly went unnoticed - also discovered and produced for Switch. Shame Motown didn't seem to know how to market him in the late '70s/early '80s, as he came up with a lot of good stuff on his solo albums as well.
@n1cklback477
@n1cklback477 9 жыл бұрын
+Gavin Lenaghan the only reason people compare is because they are brothers. When you have one massively talented one, what do you expect? Sure, they are moderately successful in their own right, but ask yourself the question as to why they never shaped up or were heard or praised for their talents post the Victory Tour in the mid 80's. Two words - Michael Jackson. Love or hate it, you can't deny it. And they ride the cash cow all the way to the high hills laughing to the bank. Sorry, but it's true. You can throw any chart statistics or producer accolades at me, but MJ had more talent in his snapping fingers or stomping feet on stage than these 4 put together.

The Jacksons have performed in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and has performances coming in 2016. How are they performing this long, BECAUSE THEY ARE GREAT. These brothers have been putting on amazing shows all over this world, yet people are still comparing them to Michael. Enough already, stop it. Michael has a lot of videos. Please go to his site. Don't get me wrong, I love Michael, but I also love the brothers. They make us happy and bring us back to memory lane. MJ fans can't comprehend this feeling. GO JACKSONS! KEEP DOING YOUR THANG.

@n1cklback477 9 жыл бұрын
+Nickleby2 You really don't know what you are talking about. The brothers are good, but they were following MJ's command. They were his backing singers, with the odd vocal lead thrown in now and then. He was centre stage. And in regards to This Is It - considering he was turning up to rehearsals on propofol (the anaesthetic) his vocals were pretty amazing considering, and having been out of the stage for 10+ years. God I hate it when someone comments with little to no knowledge of a subject
@Nickleby2
@Nickleby2 9 жыл бұрын
+Grau Gruen That's because you are listening to a pre-recorded MJ. None of Mj's shows were live singing except Bad. All his other shows were pre-recored. That is a fact. these guys are much older than he was and they are singing Live. MJ was worried about doing 50 shows at the 02 in London. These guys have traveled around the world and back and still going. And have done more than 100 shows.
@Nickleby2
@Nickleby2 9 жыл бұрын
+N1CKLBACK NO. They were not his backing singers. Jackie and Randy wrote most of the songs and created the music. Marlon was the MAIN choreographer of the group. So much of the dances that MJ was doing was choreographed by Marlon and Jackie and Randy. MJ was the front man but that is what the brothers wanted. Had Jermaine been in the group, he would have shared the lead just like he did in J5. If you wanna say MJ sang most of the lead then, well Berry Gordy did have bigger things for Jermaine then, apart from him marrying his daughter.

I'm actually old enough to remember the 1st Jackson 5 album in 1969. Been a fan of them as a group, and of course Michael since then. When Michael passed it was like the end of an era, although for me I would have felt the same if it was any of them. Remembering the albums, 45s, TV appearances, and Right On magazine :-), it was about all of the brothers although the spotlight was clearly on Michael from the beginning. I thought it would be great if there was a Jacksons concert with the brothers and Janet singing with them in place of Michael. It would be good for the fans and a great way to honor the memory of Michael and the musical history of the Jackson 5.

Kennedy Rice ...I have been a Jackson's fan for along time I like Janet but she's not that good of a singer. in just because she looks like mj don't mean she sound like mj. in people seems to be more in tune with mj. and Janet. only because of their dancing.when Janet was on fame she sang.I want you back she didn't sound good at all.

I was there. I loved every minute of it and was ready to go home after they performed. I hope people don't come with their nonesense of comparing them to MJ. That is uncalled for and MJ never performed at 58 or 60 years old!

@n1cklback477 9 жыл бұрын
+Nickleby2 But that is inevitable. That's like talking about bread without the butter. He was the sauce, if you will. Without Michael, the band would not have had their careers. They are just associate and happen to be genetically linked to the most talented and famous pop star in the world.

***** You say about relentlessly comparing MJ to the Jacksons in every video post his death in 2009, yet you make the comparison as well? Regarding him not being able to perform in his 50's like his brothers are. Um - 1) He's dead. 2) This Is It, have you even watched it? The man still danced like in his 20's, and was out dancing a lot of the backing dancers (even while being on drugs). And 3) I think your statement is VERY bold, and deluded to say the least. MJ was very tunnel visioned and I don't think his brothers would have stopped him from breaking through on a solo level, with or without them. As nice as the Jackson 5 days were, they were not as critical to success as an adult as people like you think it was. I think the Victory Tour speaks for itself. MJ was directing the whole show, the brothers were following his instructions. That's a different kind of genius. Sure, the brothers were gifted, but MJ shone in the stratosphere. He did not need the brothers for success or record sales. In fact, it was the brothers in the early 80's that kept him back from achieving his solo aspirations.
@Nickleby2
@Nickleby2 9 жыл бұрын
+N1CKLBACK I only make the comparison to show how irrational and stupid those criticising them are. I have MJ's History concert on tape and his singing was so poor that I felt embarrassed for him. The part that was clear was where he was miming to the record, and he was in his early 40s. MJ died trying to make a come-back. He new he couldn't do it and told his fans so. He was only 50. These brothers are now 60 and have now done well over 100 shows travelling right across America and the rest of the world!
@n1cklback477
@n1cklback477 9 жыл бұрын
+Nickleby2 you do know that MJ was suffering laryngitis during that tour? It's like having throat cancer. Do your research. His dancing on that tour was too notch, and even though he was mining, he still sang live on a few songs, despite doctors advice. That's how much he cares about pleasing the fans. Lol, and yeh the brothers may have done 100 shows and all that - but they don't work their asses out to perfection like MJ. He was like an athlete. He went full out. They are not of same calibre, I'm afraid. They Bob to the music and sing. That's it. Entertaining, but not a spectacle like MJ. How did you know MJ thought he couldn't do his comeback? You are really making wild guesses here.

Every time I see someone make a negative comment about THE JACKSONS I have to laugh. I always say "That is too funny". These brothers are fantastic. If you don't know you better ask somebody. I know I am repeating myself, but it gives me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much pleasure to say they have performed throughout 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Their last show was in October 2016. It all began in June 2012. How the hell could they have performed so long on a poor tour. You people have lost your mind. Also, I want the 80's babies to shut the f up. I hope this is not the end. I need to see these awesome brothers perform again. I only had the great pleasure of seeing their performance three times, which is not enough. Oh God please don't let this be it. Call me a fan for life. GO JACKSONS, I love you guys sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. Hope to see you again. Maybe then I will have the nerve to do the Meet and Greet.

Love the old classic songs specially michleas jackson was one of the best pop singer the legend and I'm glad his brothers do these shows so that people keep remembering old times and MJ for ever also to show young generation because as new singers come and now days raps are just ruining youngsters. I know the for the brothers it's hard without MJ as he was main lead singer if the group so not having him is like a big star from sky missing, so we still need to support thus group and being new singers to be like MJ and bring pop music back to thus time.

They folded in some of James Browns "Sex Machine" at 9:45! James brown influence is forever. Much respect to the drummer who broke that shit down righteously and he cracked that snare.

This is exactly why Marlon is called the dancingest Jackson

+Mary O. Olasubomi Sote Marlon is the dancingest Jackson out of the other brothers but certainly not more than Michael. If anyone referred Marlon the dancingest Jackson involving MJ is a rumor. Michael danced more than all of them. Just look at every performance during the J5, the Victory tour, Motown 25, etc., MJ always danced the most. Why do you think MJ was such a great dancer doing the moonwalk, robot during the Jackson 5, etc. Marlon has never ever danced more than Michael, that's a rumor for sure. Look at all the videos yourself and you will see MJ dancing and singing more than all of them. I don't know how this rumor started. Anyway, all the brothers are great lovely people, but the lies have to stop.

***** I know never said MJ came up with the Moonwalk or Robot, I just simply said he did these dances because he was the dancingest. I know who invented the Moonwalk, it was this guy from the 60's, and Daniel taught MJ how to do it. I knew all about this years ago. My point is that MJ danced these dances because he was the dancingest. It may not be a rumor that Marlon is the dancingest but it sure isn't the truth. No matter what is said, the reality is that Michael is the dancingest, he even danced to the washing machine when he was only two years old. MJ doing all the James Brown moves. MJ is the dancingest out of all brothers regardless what anyone said. Just look at every single performance from the J5 days, the Jacksons Victory tour, etc., MJ did most the dances. MJ was the dancingest, Fact, not Marlon. Anyway, all the brothers are great lovely people, but the lies have to stop.

+DeVante Cooley Speak the truth bro. The most Naturally gifted dancers in the family, from my point of view are, Rebbie, Marlon and Randy. All the others are well choreographed. That includes Janet and Michael!

Seems fitting that Marlon was the one who sang most of the lead vocals. He always comes to mind whenever I hear this song because of the victory tour performance of this song with him and Michael having a little dance showdown. It always made me chuckle. :) Glad they're performing again.
