The Jaecoo J6 (iCar 03) - is it coming to NZ and Australia?

We are live from Wuhu China, where we take a quick look at the Jaecoo J6. Based on the iCar 03, the J6 is a compact electric SUV with tough Jeep or Jimny-like styling, paired with rear or all-wheel drive and solid all-electric range.
Will it make it to New Zealand and other right-hand drive markets? We think so!

The 4X4 or I-WD of this version has been a huge success here in Costa Rica (known as iCar 03, sold between $45k - $48k)... The amount of torque and HP it has for its class makes it a really good EV

It is more like the iCar 03T. This car has an all aluminium body. It doesn't look like all other cars in the supermarket cart park. The 4WD version, although is not a hardcore off-roader, is capable of surviving a lot of difficult terrains. It is really unique. But, wait, the newer iCar V23 and X25 are even more exciting.

Yet another Remurea Tractor. I'm confused why the Chinese aren't trying to topple Toyota with electric vans and utes. Seems like an obvious strategy that if you can provide the cheapest lifetime commercial vehicles you'll own that market. Company CFO's do not give a FF if their tradie would prefer a silly grand cherokee jeep as a work wagon they care if they can do their work from said wagon and more important how much it costs. The Chinese manufacturers are definitely fallible is my opinion, tesla is lost pigheadedness so it's VW, Ford and Toyota if each sort their bs out. Commercial sector specifically. An electric ranger and transit produced en masse could win the light commercial space.

Van wise there are some options with plenty more to come. Ute wise, I think we are entering the era of the PHEV ute. Even an EV fan like myself has to admit it’s hard to make the numbers with on a BEV ute… for now. But long range PHEV like the BYD Seal could go big!
