Thank you for listening to The Jam, almost every song they made has a great melody while staying unique. They played live so much that they have a great sound that is very well matched with each-other.

Weller is right. "SOUND AFFECTS" is their best album... and that's saying a LOT when you have "ALL MOD CONS" and "SETTING SONS" in your catalog. THE JAM were absolutely peak in that three album run that was as good as anything any band has ever produced. SIDE NOTE: I'm going to ask / beg again for you to check out the incredible MARTIN PHILLIPPS of THE CHILLS. He recently passed away in New Zealand and his catalog is so worth exploring and celebrating. THE CHILLS were legendary. Check out "THE ONCOMING DAY," "PINK FROST," "I LOVE MY LEATHER JACKET" (Tribute to his friend who passed away from Leukemia), "NIGHT OF THE CHILL BLUE," "THE GREAT ESCAPE," or the epic "WATER WOLVES" (with beautiful, haunting orchestration arranged by Brian Wilson collaborator, Van Dyke Parks. Truly worth your time. Cheers!

Great start to arguably the best of a run of three consecutive classic albums, starting with All Mod Cons. This album cemented The Jam’s position as the biggest band in the UK after they had scored their first number 1 single earlier in the year, the iconic, standalone ‘Going Underground’ (well worth a listen in its own right, along with its double A side ‘Dreams of Children’).

I've always found "Pretty Green" and other Sound Affects tracks to have a much more pronounced post-punk/new wave feel than they used to. Yes, it's a very good album, but personally my favourite is their previous album, Setting Sons.

Setting Sons is my fave but All Mod Cons, Setting Sons and Sound Affects is their trifecta. You can’t miss with any of them.

To me their best album. Sound Affects is great, Pretty Green, Monday, Set This House Ablaze, Start, That’s Entertainment, Scrape Away. Enjoyable listen.

The Modfather is, indeed, correct (he usually is), it's their best LP.

Running on the spot from The gift is immense. The Jam are simply the best band in the world. For the record , a geezer dropped a tenner in a weatherspoons, they need that money, I picked it up and handed it to him. I don't want kudos for that.

This album is worth a track by track reaction! Pretty Green to Scrape Away, all bangers. I agree with Weller on this one.

The day I was booted out of my apartment in 2011, I wandered to the beach and sat on a bench. On the bench was a wallet with $110 in it. I dropped the wallet off at the police station. Yes I kept the $

It's one of those strange things in life. You can spent $50 without thinking about it, but if you find $1 lying around, it makes you happy. Don't know whether you've reacted to my favourite Jam song yet, but if not, it's on that album - "That's Entertainment". A brilliant, timeless track.

This album represents Weller, Foxton, and Buckler at their collective artistic peak and definitely deserves a full listen.

It probably is their best album (although I do love All Mod Cons, for nostalgic reasons). I hope you enjoy listening to it. Scrape Away and Set the House Ablaze are fantastic songs and of course there’s That’s Entertainment.

I use the word 'opined' likely more than the average person. Is in my regular vocabulary. An acceptable sounding tune btw.
@Roddy19652 ай бұрын
This was the first Jam album I had, and it is definitely the #1 or #2. I haven't used 'opined' but the English language continues to devolve. I'm like, and he's like, and she's like, like, ya know? But Weller is class and knows the language.

Opined, I use quite a lot as I do crossword puzzles & it occurs a lot. It means giving your opinion.

Probably have used "opined" though cannot recall the last instance. Your question does make me wonder whether anyone uses that word in the present tense. I "opine" that it might be a dubious premise to claim that people do.

Opined, "stating one's opinion" is used more widely in British English than American, I suspect.
