I had the Distiller's Reserve about 5 years ago, preferred the Hibiki anytime.

Interesting. We reviewed the Hibiki on our German channel some time ago and it fell flat on its face, but we received a lot of feedback that many people really liked it. I am not sure if we simply had a bad batch or a bottle gone bad. Ours was extremely boring and bland and with 75 € way to expensive for what it was. But that’s Whisky for you right? It’s and Taste can change a lot over time.

@@MaltMariners-WhiskyRoads it was the Hibiki old bottling, not the Hibiki Harmony. The old bottling has whisky matured in Mizunara casks. Compared to the Harmony, old bottling was way much better.

That makes sense

My feelings as well. I have a Hakushu 12 that I bought 2 yrs ago for $85 USD and I am nursing it as I don't want to shell out $190 for it now. It is delicious. I will keep my eye out for the Distillers Reserve.

Sound like a bargain. In Germany the Hakushu 12 yo went from 80 to 150 in the last couple of years.

There are great Japanese whiskies but quite expensive unfortunately.

Someone must have told Murray it was time to launch Japanese whisky he and his colleagues gave him some awards and here are the puppets of fandom running after this pale imitation of scotch, rare and stupidly expensive, artificially colored, mixed and without a statement of age. That's the way the world works: puppets and puppeteers.
