I was in a record shop in west Ken. circa 1980 this album was on in the background , i had to have it , This changed the way i percievd music, made me appreciate musicianship and more importantly inspired me to learn Saxophone , massive album , looking forward to seeing them at Ronnie Scotts in April

I’ve seen the Jeff Lorber fusion live a few times in the early 80’s at Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT. They always put on a top notch show to a SRO crowd. Have always been a fan for 40+ years

When I listen to this particular song, I hear the words, " Gettin ready, Lord knows I'm getting ready for my judgement day, Lord I'm getting ready for you".( KATHERINE) It is one brilliant album that transcends time.

I remember living in Whidbey Island in the late 70’s early 80’s and the jazz station in Bellingham, Wa. Used this song as their background song for their advertisement/lead-in! Brings back found memories every time I hear it!!!

I was trying to remember where I first heard this album. Ah, yes.... When I was at SUNY @ StonyBrook in the late 70's I wandered into a high end audio store just north of campus. Dahlquist speakers, McIntosh amps with tubes you could smell the dust off when they fired up, Dual turntables with those funky strobe lights... I pretended I hadn't just stepped out of my 1971 Valiant Scamp held together with fiberglass, epoxy, and red lead and pretended the bulge in my pocket was a thick wad of cash, not an HP calculator with that reverse Polish notation crap. I sallied up to the sales counter and asked to hear their best-of-the-best so I could "purchase a birthday gift". They escorted me to the listening room and put on an album. At this point in my listening career I was pretty much spanning Aerosmith's "Get Your Wings" to Vivaldi's "Le Quattro Stagioni", so I was game for anything. They spun an album as the Mc's warmed up. Slowly, something filled the air. Wait... wait... tuning in WRVR... 106.7... Max Cole. Nope. Not quite. Soft Space Somehow I backpedaled out of there (I did buy my Dad a "low end" Onkyo system later in my SUSB years from that shop with some money I earned at my Uncle's factory out in Calverton), sallied over to the SUSB record shop in some basement, and purchased Soft Space as a "cut out". The Molly Hatchet + VH crowd publicly dis'ed me for playing this and the likes of SG's Morning Dance, but on the side they asked me, "Where did you find that? What a groove!" Ah, those Kelly Quad Dungeon Dweller daze...

I remember how much air play this tune got on the radio along with Joe Sample's, Carmel, songs from two keyboard players, at the time the guitar was "real jazz" for me. They both changed my mind after hearing their music.
