I think its cool when you can recover from a blooper on live TV, or when you break character but keep the show moving. Another cool thing is, when you do a retro piece like this, the audience already has an emotional investment in the characters, which makes it more fun because you don't have to work very hard to win them over. It's like an old family member coming back to see you.

Marissa Tomei did a great job, I was surpised, I laughed so hard at her performance. I swear she was possessed by the ghost of Jean Stapleton. Jamie Foxx was pretty good. I couldn't see Woody Harrelson plsying Archie though, he wasn't that good. Ike Barinholtz, was okay, Ellie Kemper should have been blonde, which bothered me and Sean Hayes was a bit too much like his Will and Grace character. Kerry Washington was good, didn't care for Will Farrell though. Wanda Sykes isn't the right type to play Louise, Jackee' Harry was good and it was so good to see her and Marla Gibbs working together again and speaking of Marla Gibbs, I was genuinly shocked and SO happy to see her, I'm surprised I didn't cry. Marla is the only who can play Florence.

I've really got mixed feelings. I'm glad for the continued interest in the classics, enough to want to perform them again. But it also shows that they are running out of ideas and new material. I also realize that it is very difficult to perform live, as Jamie Fox illustrates. But for such good actors, many times thier lines and performances come off flat. Maybe its because I know these episodes so well and how they were originally performed. So all in all, I give them a A for effort, of course an A for material and a C for execution.
@fbnflaviusbroadcastingnetw67864 жыл бұрын
Mitch Salawine in TV they do take after take after take and post production everything is basically edited and they take the best one from each take from each sin, however in life TV and in theater what you see is what you get and I only do you have to speak louder and emphasize but you also have to have the body language and facial expressions too. If not, performance falls flat. Which TV and theater are you only got one tray in front of that audience and that’s it when and movies and film it’s in front of multiple cameras. That’s why I like stage and theatre better: its raw.
@fbnflaviusbroadcastingnetw67864 жыл бұрын
Mitch Salawine with cameras up in your face all basically you do is act, when you were in front of a live audience not only do you act but you have to exaggerate the acting with the tone volume lines and body language: basically, movies and films is acting, while theatre and TV is reacting.

I just cant see Woody in the role of _Archie Bunker_ - he cannot carry that role nor the _character_ . I believe that the _better character choice_ for this role would have been to cast *Dean Norris* ( _Hank, from Breaking Bad_ ) who is a phenomenal actor, and would have been able to _imbue_ Archie Bunker's character onto the stage. ( _If you havent seen him in a new series titled CLAWS, I highly recommend you do_ ) As far as _Meathead + Gloria_ are concerned .......... NO! just......... NO. Whoever cast those 2 needs to be seriously FIRED! Also - I couldnt see _Will Ferrell_ as "Thom Willis" because lets be honest - Will Ferrell always plays _himself_ in every character he portrays. Marisa Tomei on the other hand + Jamie Foxx were AH-MAZING and definitely deserve _Emmy's_ for their roles.

I remember watching these shows and goodtimes when I was a kid and many reruns since. Some of the scenes in these shows were the most impactful and they did a great deal in closing the divide back then......Juxtaposing characters and their bias to well placed dialog showing others drawing closer together, knowing when to push the boundaries and when to pull them back in. The quality of writer back then puts people today to shame. We are so much better off today because of these shows and the people that say that we haven't made progress have no idea what it was like back then. If you want to watch an episode of goodtimes that will make your heart drop, watch the one where they get news the father James has died...... Damn Damn Damn
