I want to make sterling silver jewelry with these specific shells I find on the beach. Is it possible to send the shells to your business and have you create jewelry I design?
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30323 жыл бұрын
Hiya. We actually work with customers who have done this very same thing - send us shells which we use as the master to make the moulds. Bear in mind the 3-7% casting shrinkage but otherwise there shouldn't be an issue. I would only say be sure that the shells aren't too thin/fragile, since we want to produce a really good mould out of them. Hope that helps! Regards, Kim

Hi Kim, Thank you so much for an informative video. I was wondering please does customer normally pay for the CAD separately and top of that for the sample pcs? Thanks
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30322 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, in our company we charge the CAD separaetly and break down the costs for the customer (CAD design, resin print, mould/master). The price of the sample will be separate also. However, I am aware that other manufactures have a different practise and may, for example, charge on set price "development" fee and may or may not include the sample peice. Hope that helps :-) Kim x

wow. very informative! do you also work with less valued metals like stainless steel?
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30323 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, we don't work with stainless steel, but we work with Brass, which is cheaper than Sterling Silver :-)

hello, thanks for your videos. its very helpful ^^ i wanted to know if the manufacturers can make cad designs for us out of our sketch? or its mandatory for us to make the cad design?
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30323 жыл бұрын
Every manufacturer works differently so definitely worth asking them direclty. Most should have the facility or at least the capability to design your CADs based on sketches. Some may prefer not to, particularly if the design seem overly complicated (I've been there!) but it's certainly not mandatory to expect designers to provide the CAD.

Hello Kim, what is your process to send a sketch for production and cost?
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes3032 Жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for your comment. If would be preferable to send through 3D CAD’s when requesting a quote, as this allows us to more accurately estimate a price for you. If however you only have a sketch, this would need to be sent please with precise measurements and details with as much detail as possible. You can contact us at info@thaidesignuk.com.

Hello. You could potentially order your jewellery in brass and have this plated in silver or gold, however, please note that plating is temporary and will eventually show the metal beneath. Please note, we only work with Sterling Silver and Solid Gold though.

Hi Kim, Thanks for the informative video, Quick question, is a casting tree made up of different sizes of a ring design or several ring designs? I ask because I have only carved wax but have never casted personally, I was trained in silverware design and manufacturing, and I have just lately developed an interest in jewellery.
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30323 жыл бұрын
The answer is: both. A casting tree can comprise of both different size rings and/or several ring designs. It depends on the purpose. We have different casting flask sizes and you can see that in the one used in the video you can fit many items just on one tree. It depends on the manufacturer and if they want to cast just one design on there or several OR several sizes (ie of rings) of the same design. We cast both because customers for example may want to see a sample first before they place an actual order of 20 pcs per design, so that would only be one item on the tree but we would also mix the tree with other waxes from orders placed with my other customers so it doesn't waste the whole casting process. In other words, when we cast it is more cost efficient to fill the tree with as many pieces as possible (obviously there is an art in doing this and you can't just cram on too much at a time, otherwise you might not get a good cast). Does that make sense?

Hi Kim, this is so helpful as always, thank you! I was wondering, does your company create CAD designs from sketches too? :)
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30323 жыл бұрын
Hey Eleanor, thank you for your kind words! We do create CADs from our customers sketches… We need to provide this facility as a option because some of our customers aren’t able to find a good CAD designer. It’s always great to receive finalized CAD files but we do need to offer the service. The CADs are also created in Thailand (which is a little more affordable). Hope that helps. Kim

How is this process sustainable? The rubber. Molds and the products that go inside is all chemicals
@jewelrymanufacturingfordes30322 жыл бұрын
Great question, thanks for asking. The moulds are reused many times, often for multiple years. There is a separate video just on the topic of sustainable metal . We're also excited about a new sustainable packaging project that we're currently rolling out which I'll do a video on soon.
