@Mostafa Noor Lies? I think you maybe mean misinterpretation, misconception or bias. For example, your claim that Persia was the center of "world culture"(?) is probably not a lie but rather a biased misconception.
@Bulgarian021
@Bulgarian021 3 жыл бұрын
@Mostafa Noor Nobody with a normal mind claims Persia is not important but modern Iranian people are not the same /are not= ancient Persians/,... do not forget Persians were NOT MUSLIMS until they were made to be by those conquerors coming from the East, you know. It would be useless enough if I claim /for example/ that Thracians were Bulgarians or that the cultures are the same due to the same region they lived in. Or if modern day Mexicans say that they are pure Aztecs. Thing change. But yeah, Persian culture was amazing and even - democratic to some extent. But Ancient Egypt was also great and very technologically advanced. So your claim seems very very absurd right now P.s. : nothing lasts forever and nothing comes from only one place
@gubruikertje

@Mostafa Noor I'm not familiar with the Nart Sagas but they are tales from the Caucasus? I'm not quite sure I understand. Anyway, nobody knows all of history. A PhD doesn't mean much when looking at history in a broader context. There's just too little left to know everything if such a thing we're even possible. Now maybe if you were a bit more clear in your comment I could comment more about the specifics, but it looks very much like you have a Persian bias. Even if you're not from Iran or don't have any Persian heritage it is still very possible to be biased. You should be aware of this if you're looking to pursue an PhD in history.

Hey, I think since you're covering obscure, barely known civilizations and cultures I think it might be a good video to discuss the cultures/civilizations of Bronze Age Afghanistan. Lots of artifacts and relics come from the area but this region and period receives very little mainstream attention, even among the most nerdy of nerds. Covering this may push the history of this place further into mainstream attention.

Just read about Jiraft etc. yesterday, in a new issue of the Nat'l Geographic history series. [I had not entered any related info into my computer, but was and am eager to know more. Is KZbin able to read my mind? Don't let the NSA know.] I got my BA in history at UC Berkeley many years ago, and my biggest interest was in the origin and development of civilized--i.e. urban-centered--societies. I still read a lot in history generally, and developments in archeology continue to enrich and even transform our knowledge of these beginnings. Thanks for posting!
@HistorywithCy
@HistorywithCy 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I got the issue too and turned out to be one of sources for this video - loved the photos but I couldn't use them because of copyright. The article was great too. I'm glad that Jiroft was featured in a mainstream magazine like National Geographic because it usually means that such civilizations are more on people's radar, and sometimes it can lead to more institutions funding excavations of such sites. Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by, really appreciate it! All the best for 2021, stay safe!

Absolutely fascinating! In case of almost all of your videos, I've learned something about their topics before (and usually forgot half about it since) but this is all new to me. It compelled me to find my old Polish textbook of ancient history (Historia Starożytna by Maria Jaczynowska, Danuta Musiał and Marek Stępień) and it doesn't seem to mention this culture at all, unsurprisingly as it was published in 2004 and obviously written using even older literature of the subject. Shows how much what we know about the past is constantly evolving. The thought that we have now one more ancient civilisation with undeciphered writing is simultaneously exciting and frustrating. Imagine if we could read it, the linear A and the Harappan script.
@HistorywithCy
@HistorywithCy 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I also get so excited with new stuff like this. I think that though it may have been discovered in 2001, it takes time for archaeologists and historians to really publish such finds in mainstream books and media...I guess there's some sort of scholarly consensus or strict vetting process they have to go through before they can include such finds in textbooks. I was looking at some old World History textbooks some time back that still claim Hammurabi's Code was the first written body of laws, which we know is not true, but what's more, is that we've known this for a while and it still appeared in a high school textbook from a few decades ago. Anyway, we live in exciting times! As always, thanks so much for stopping by, really appreciate it! More to come, stay safe!

Yeah, I personally think that this area was the land/state known as Marhashi mentioned in Akkadian and Neo-Sumerian texts. @@HistorywithCy Yes, because apparently BMAC was a part of the same world-system as Jiroft, Harappa and other civilizations of Bronze age. And as well as Jiroft, it is rarely spoken about. Also, it is very likely that it was BMAC which gave the Indo-Iranians the final shape before they migrated to India and Iran respectively. @@HistorywithCy Keep doing what you like, I'm enjoying it! My personal interest is religions and cults and how they tie in with history and how they inter-connect different civilizations. For example, if we can get videos or content related to the historical Jesus, or the ancient Jewish cult and their pagan animal sacrifices, or content about differences in the ways ancient Romans worshipped their gods and the way ancient Greeks worshipped their gods. Mithras the Persian solar deity..., who was worshipped throughout the Roman empire. The Zorastrian worshippers and religion, and the Parsi diaspora in India after Arab invasions.

For sure! My bet is that it would be Marhashi since that name has been mentioned in numerous texts as a place distinct from Elam and Meluhha (Indus Valley). The detectives who were investigating it mysteriously died. Iranian movie director Bahram Beyzayi who lives abroad wanted to make a movie about it but he gave up. Do the BMAC/Oxus Civilization next. It ties into both central asian, Indian and Iranian history. They believe Indra and many words in the Indo-Iranian languages may be borrowed from BMAC as a substrate. Words that have to do with settled living and growing crops are among the words believed to be borrowed from Oxus. There is trade connections between them and many bronze age cultures including Harrapan. From my reading they're the major source of lapis lazuli for this time period.
