He is obviously dedicated to his craft and his principles , these documentaries really do the actor justice, KOLO KINO make well researched films much better than the usual Hollywood hype, Phoenix doesn't play it safe he takes roles that are character driven and isn't deterred by poor box office takings, the Lynne Ramsay film is so underrated.

Yes, Joaquin is fascinating and a fantastic actor IMO? His early life is very unusual and a great breeding ground for madness? IMO and experience the huge majority of actors are friends with the crazy? They are either desperate for attention or approval, they usually don't have a great "sense of self" that's why they are able to inhabit new characters so quickly and easily? Regardless, JP is the GOAT as an Actor..

Really ? The only reason I had heard about it initially was, leading up to the doc’s release, I’d been told by a dozen odd people, from people in their twenties to a few people in their mid thirties, the same story. That he’d gone nuts. I didn’t start hearing the actual narrative until Phoenix and co had already agreed to give it up publicly. (Albeit I didn’t follow it beat for beat and at the time couldn’t care less either way. For me it didn’t become funny / kind of fascinating until I personally saw the film years later, knowing it was a hoax).
@RockoJerome7 ай бұрын
@@RBGRBGRBGRBG I think for me, it was a combination of him going on Letterman, where a few actors had gone to try out some new schtick before, and the behind the scenes DVD material for We Own The Night, where he tried to pull some method actor stuff on Robert Duvall of all people, who checked him on it. I do think Phoenix is a pretty great actor who, to this point, hadn't quite been in a movie that really set him up for the kind of attention he deserved...but then after this, he did. So who's to say if it wasn't a net positive for him?
