@@Mike-er2ih none of Joe's signature basses include tone knobs because of the emphasis that they want to put on minimalism. The argument Jack gives on the absence of tone knobs, as usual, doesn't make too much sense, though. I'm not sure if this helps you because Jack's sense of humour is quite surreal at times, but I hope it does!

It’s so funny that it’s obviously a J Bass but they dance all over not saying that. “We thought what if we split the pickup in two and moved one forward. I don’t think it’s ever been done before.” Had me rolling. It sounds great though and I love the natural finish. It’s also fun hearing Joe call the strings “Pre-aged” as a lot of his great tone from using old roundwound strings, which is pretty abnormal but really works for his sound.
