I love that Nate is struggling at not bursting with laughter but when Jack says "How many tone knobs are in your oven?" he just can't help it anymore. Such a versatile bass from a versatile, uuuuhhhh, mindset.

@@Mike-er2ih none of Joe's signature basses include tone knobs because of the emphasis that they want to put on minimalism. The argument Jack gives on the absence of tone knobs, as usual, doesn't make too much sense, though. I'm not sure if this helps you because Jack's sense of humour is quite surreal at times, but I hope it does!

I know this was probably filmed during a Fearless Flyers recording. But, I like the idea that Jack just called Nate Smith and asked him fly in and play for about one minute and then just sit with a straight face while he and Joe spouted nonsense!

I love how Joe makes the simplest basslines sound groovy. Just goes to show how important rhythm and pocket is to good bass playing.

Not just bass anything need good rhythm you can play the wrong notes on any instrument with rhythm and groove and it will soumd better than playing the perfect notes with no rhythm so yeah

It’s so funny that it’s obviously a J Bass but they dance all over not saying that. “We thought what if we split the pickup in two and moved one forward. I don’t think it’s ever been done before.” Had me rolling. It sounds great though and I love the natural finish. It’s also fun hearing Joe call the strings “Pre-aged” as a lot of his great tone from using old roundwound strings, which is pretty abnormal but really works for his sound.

It’s actually based on a Music Man Caprice, but in a sense the Caprice is the mix of a J bass and a Stingray

I can't believe how scooped the bass sounds even though it looks like it's mostly neck pickup engaged. Sounds amazing. Other demos of it don't quite have that neck pickup tone. Perhaps it's the Rotosounds...
