Think Media I think it’s the perfect vehicle for multi stream income based on your earlier advice on multiple channels to cover multiple interests that are unrelated. My political views and language would not work for my truck and tools channel so why deal with coppa when I’m telling people about a safety device that measures brake stroke? However I will use words that you hear in Joe Rogan shows because that’s my political audience. It would not sound right if you said a curse word. Not even the everyday ones. People would be like, hol up, what? Gary Vee, nobody flinches. Doesn’t loose Sponsors. I think there should be a video about cursing 🤬. With Gary and Joe it’s seems normal, not angry 😤 or insulting. Like rap music.

I volunteer for the BPS DSEP NAH (I know a long name but we are required to call ourselves that under a contractual agreement). The podcast is called Talking Psych where we literally talk sports and exercise psychology with prof's & Dr's, Athletes and coaches and we have had major success with it already even when our superiors were quite dismissing of it. We were mentioned in Dispatches By BBC radio 4 and have presented at a number of conferences in the UK. open.spotify.com/show/6gOSb1GaGIc2kVdNZbbLZy I have also tried experimenting with what I call a 'Hybridcast' Formula on my own personal channel inspired by the BBC sounds style Podcasts (which is like a un-raw style video podcast) . kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIrNo2yPmMRsqrs I hope this does not come across as me shamelessly promoting and only instead of me trying to answer the comment question.

The Joe Rogan formula, have guests from all walks of life, talk like a real person, let the conversation develop, have a group of your friends on to talk about an event without showing the event, smoke lots of weed with your guest . The fight companion shows are my favorite. I rarely watch the clips but when I do I go to the whole conversation and listen for 2-3 hours.

I'm sorry to be so blunt but anyone who says that everybody blowing up on KZbin or social media ONLY because they previously had a following is flat out lazy. I was NEVER popular ANYWHERE prior to starting my channel. I don't have the largest audience in the world but 64,000 is nothing to sneeze at. If what any of these people said was true about "pre-popularity", I wouldn't have this audience. Period. I've been putting in CONSTANT WORK since 2013 on this channel. I've been uploading since 2006 if you want to include my 1st channel. That is 7-14 years of CONSTANT WORK and NEVER GIVING UP. It was NOT me being famous or having a TV show before getting on here. In fact.... I have 5 times MORE subscribers than some of the reality TV stars I watch regularly on TV shows that get MILLIONS of views. Why? Because I work harder than them. Having an audience/show/fame/whatever before you start your channel is not the only way to blow up on this platform. That is an excuse. That is laziness. I'm sorry to be so harsh but someone needs to tell you straight. The reasons why you haven't gotten where you want to go is because you (aside from making excuses) are 1: not being consistent 2: need to improve your content 3: need to engage with your audience 4: need to find YOUR niche 5: need to find a unique way to communicate that niche. 6: need to follow all of the best practices of youtube reach (Title, Thumbnail, SEO, Content) [check your analytics and see whats working and whats not] You have no excuse. You're only "competing against guys like Rogan" if YOU put yourself in that position. Start a podcast about what YOU are passionate about that has LITTLE TO NO competition. Same for a channel. I've seen 1 guy on KZbin blow up for doing literally elevator reviews....who on earth is doing elevator reviews? Well apparently he is. And apparently there is a huge audience for it. Just do the work. Stay consistent. Research (don't do it blind). And Stop making excuses. You will never get anywhere that way.

Thx for this detailed comment & congratulations on your success!! 🙌 I'm finally starting out on my own & doing it afraid might add 🙈 Nervous because I'm currently unable to make investments into really good quality audio recording equipment...or any other equipment for that matter 😂 I do have a very specific niche which is why I'm confident overall & want to get it right. I believe that people will want listen & I know I have the capabilities to succeed. Having the content & ability is one thing, but having the mechanics to put it out there is something different all together & that's what I lack at the moment. Any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated. Wishing you continued success!!✌️💕🙏

I really like this, I’m wanting to start a podcast with a couple friends soon and I’ll keep this in mind! The only thing I’m not sure if I can follow is finding a niche. Our interests are politics, gaming, and philosophy mostly. They seem like hugely saturated markets which is my biggest worry. And we don’t have any particular expertise. I think we are fairly sociable and have good conversation and love talking to new people though. We also aren’t looking to make it huge. If we can get to the point of just making a small living off of it, we’d be ecstatic.

I've come here from LinkedIn, @Sean Cannell, based on your rant about how some people say only 'successful people' can do well at this Rogan formula. Here are my 2 cents: I feel, by and large people mean well. Someone said: everything people say or do to you, is either: 1. An act of love 2. Or a desperate cry for help People who are saying those things to you have been told repeatedly that such and such can never be done, and they’re now repeating that message to themselves and everyone around them. They can’t be kind or encouraging because they didn’t see that happen for themselves, and hence they’re not kind to themselves. The ironic thing is they’re the ones who would benefit from your message the most. Hence all the more reason to keep going ahead on your mission. Go Sean, go Benji, you guys have helped me with me self confidence, so, so much !!

We've actually started doing this recently. We used to upload 30-40 minute KZbin videos that mirrored the audio podcast. These last few weeks we put out some "highlight" videos instead. They got more traction, so it does work. However, our loyal watchers miss the full experience.

So publish the “full version” and then chop it up and make micro content. Most people have 10 minutes. More often then not they aren’t willing to give up 30-60 minutes.

Now we are hitting video on KZbin for every episode and already in the last 20 episodes have noticed a 10% spike in our downloads simply from being on KZbin. We are a top 100 show here in Canada, but much more work ahead! Thanks Sean! And anyone who is thinking of starting a podcast, ded do video and auduo!

Joe Rogan started a podcast AFTER he was on a hit reality TV show. Fear Factor was one of the first hit reality TV series....BEFORE social media. Meaning this. He was already a very well known public figure before jumping into the podcast world. In a world where algorithms determine whose content gets seen, competing against guys like Rogan is like running the 100 m dash with the other competitor getting a 80 m start. Even if you are fast, the person with the lead wins.

He was also well known because of his presence in the MMA world. This video implies that a person can be an online success by following a simple formula. It does not take into account the talent of the person. Very few people can be successful at podcasting.

Great point, even though I don’t like him...I do have to give him credit. He was well known but podcasts and KZbin videos were really young and no one was really there yet. He also went against the grain in that he grew organically (no paid ads), did extremely long form podcasts, and started by himself (didn’t join a network or partner) 🤙

Get rich and help folks at same time. Start a local news podcast franchise, helping local folks startup local news and stories. Every community wants/needs local news. State level as well. Imagine a new network (TMN brodcasting) reporting from homes across the nation. Everyone wins You supply business in a box, you get paid to start up and monthly fees. Underemployed gets coached throught the startup (hardest part) Some will fail, but there could be thousands of small local broadcasters across the nation.

As I was planning out my 2020 goals, the vision of a video podcast was a big part of it. At the core of this was both the trend toward video podcasts on interesting topics *and* the ability to segment the show up and use clips for other videos. I was really glad to have that validated in your video. It confirms I'm on the right path forward. 6 shows in, I am getting the content I need to have editing days and get some segments out as independent videos. Thanks for this validation and guidance. 🎩🔮

Even though 90% of the time I'm only listening to the audio if its on youtube I don't have to worry about tracking it down across multiple platforms I can just subscribe to it like any other channel.

We make something similar, not a video podcast, but we use vlogs as a podcast too. Only interviews so far, but it is a good option.

🤙Great video! I think it’s so interesting that he has succeeded like he has on the podcast. Think for a second, he does it completely opposite to what everyone says it should be: 1) He built it himself without joining a network, or a huge team/collards. 2) Way over the recommended length of a max 22 minutes (it lasts over 90-120 minutes usually. 3) Built multiple YT channels off of this single channel (everyone says to stick with one and grow it) 4) He grew organically I just started my YT channel recently and can not wait to take Sean’s advice and grow! ❤️ you all

You do know that Joe Rogan was an absolute huge name before his show, right? To say he "built it himself without joining a network" seems to ignore all of his previous history.
@JustinHouser
@JustinHouser 4 жыл бұрын
kazrisk great point, but being a big name, doesn’t guarantee you success. How many singers, movie stars, etc have fell off the charts due to not being relevant anymore? He obviously got a way better start than 99.9% of ppl, but he made great content from the beginning and continued it. His content is what ppl what to hear...he then began to bring in interesting guests to improve his content even more. 🤙

Why/how does someone like Gary Vee or Jay Shetty NOT use headphones in their setup...but Joe Rogan (and many others) DO? Personal preference?
@ThomasJordanTV
@ThomasJordanTV 2 жыл бұрын
GaryVee and Jay Shetty probably have producers or PAs monitoring their audio so they can focus on the show. If you are solo... it's a safe bet to use them. If you don't... you run the risk of numerous audio mistakes. And there will come a time where you forget to press record lol

I really like your channel. I have a question tho-- Do you know if Joe, H3H3 or any of the other video podasts are uploading to their KZbin and podcast channels on the same days? I guess my thinking is that you might be able to get more views and listens if you uploaded to your podcast one day and then upload to KZbin same content another day. And the clips channels-- Would you post that before as a teaser to get people to watch the long version? I'm just curious if there is a strategy to all this. Thanks

This is a great question. The thing is, Everyone's show is different. You have to test everything and see how it works. I would post the long version and the clips all on the same day and have the call to action to be listen to the FULL version here :) Does this help? :)

The Joe Budden Podcast has been recording the podcasts and posting. In fact, that's how they got a lucrative contract with Spotify. Joe now has multiple channels, and multiple shows. He's probably a better example of this, especially because he's African American male who made it.

Do you recommend 1 channel with the full podcast and 1 channel with the clips? Or 1 channel with both? I dont understand how having the clips would hurt the full podcast channel
@ThomasJordanTV

What's up man!? Hope you're well! I was wondering the same thing. We may have to test it out and see :) Everyone is following Rogans strategy with the full podcast on one channel and the clips on the other. Then begs the question, do you follow the leader, or create a new path? Decisions decisions haha

Sean, I started making videos to leave a legacy for my grandson. The old teacher in me thought the learning process was interesting, so I decided to upload my video making attempts to KZbin. And that's how I came across your channel. You made me believe I could do this and I took some time out to sit down and make a plan. Now, I'm setting up websites and a couple of blogs. Come summertime, there will be regular video uploads and early next year I'm branching out to include podcasts as well. I was forced into early retirement due to illness and thought my chances of doing something worthwhile were gone. Now, I have a purpose again and you were a major conduit in this process. Do I believe you need a following to succeed? Absolutely not! I have made around 70 nonsensical videos, just to learn how to make videos, and I immediately got a few followers. Even though I haven't made an upload for a year, I still get weekly views. On nothing! I would say that's solid proof that content that is interesting, educational or just solves a problem has every chance of breaking through and find it's own audience.

Sean, I wanna ask you one interesting question. You have almost 1mln subscribers, you position yourself as professional youtube creator. But, many of your videos reach few dozen thousands views. Why it happens? Why you can't achieve outstanding results if you have so many experience and knowledge it this field? Or, may be, make many videos with low audience is it your strategy?

If this formula so simply, why only originally popular people achieve success on this way?
@ThinkMediaTV

"only originally popular people achieve success on this way?" is a false conclusion. LivBay Lash were not originally famous. Jay Bear was not originally famous. And there are 10s of thousands that were not 'originally famous' that are succeeding.

This is awesome. I am launching a local community podcast per Gary Vees suggestion. I have a KZbin channel for mortgage and home buying topics which is the business. Goal is to have high level pillar content. Its daunting for sure but I know its the right move. Gearing up that works best for me. Look for the Treasure Coast Podcast. Coming in Feb 2020.
