I remember how excited we were in '96 when it was announced that Dr. Who was coming back! And it was going to be an American TV movie, and then possibly an ongoing series! We were crushed when the movie bombed in the ratings. In retrospect it probably was confusing for the American audience to understand what was going on with regenerations and the Tardis. Only us die hards watching classic Who on PBS were really familiar with the Doctor's history.

Strange little fact about this episode, right up until it was broadcast in 2007, there were many Whovians that didn't take Paul McGann's 8th Doctor as Cannon. They discounted him as an American invention despite what a terrific job he did in the role Forums such as Outpost Gallifrey often had thread wars about it. Thankfully the picture @02:25 put an end to the division, once and for all.

@Comet128648 жыл бұрын
The trouble with Moffat is that when he gets an episode right, he really nails it. But it leaves the rest of his 'not-so-good' episodes seeming bad in comparison. Or at least, that's my opinion, anyway. When I've gone back and re-watched some older Moffat episodes, I realise that on their own, they're not so bad. But when compared to others in the series, they seem much worse. Moffat has his strengths, but his fatal weakness is that he's terribly inconsistent. People are always gonna compare his best to his worst.

It'd be good if they could return to the Family, they were some of the best villains in Doctor Who.
@DanteCorwyn8 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about the Weeping Angels, they're overused now. Though with the angels, they've just got their nasty agenda of eating people. The Family wanted to live forever (can't remember their motivations other than that), but they could easily change as characters after their imprisonment. And it's been about 10 years since they were on the show, having them appear just once more Random story idea, the Doctor needs to track something down, but it keeps on evading him, and he reluctantly decides he needs the best trackers around. He offer's Father of Mine a deal (visiting him ten years after he was locked up), he'd be reunited with the others and left on a planet to live out their lives, in return for his aid. Two hostile characters team up, we see two different sides to both of them, and we get an interesting story.
