CAN I JUST SAY- if it wasn't for Tabletop, I wouldn't have heard about TItansgrave. If i hadn't fallen in love with TItansgrave, I wouldn't have looked further and found Critical Role. I've noticed that Will as GM doesn't tell the players what they need to match/beat for their roll, he keeps it to himself and just narrates the outcome so the players have to listen as to whether they were successful or not. I think that's an interesting way to do things. I guess if they knew the target to beat as (for instance) a 10, then once they roll, the players knows instantly whether they succeeded or not, which deflates the story potential somewhat.. very cool!

***** The point of combat for me is not to win, but to try and win. If you always win without sacrifice or effort, it becomes dull. You need to be challenged and avoid or retreat in situations. Having to alter your course because of lost battles or injuries which need tending is far more interesting than simply forging ahead and crushing all opposition. To win should often take self sacrifice or permanent losses in some way. Retiring after your journey having lost limb and love is just so much more meaningful than shining like golden gods who killed 50 million orcs and a demon god.

I'm normally not much into settings like this, but the imagery definatly helps to pull me in further, it has quite a nice look to it. And of course amazing characters and a great storyteller definatly helps a lot too! Looking forward to seeing where this will go, and what else they might encounter in this rather interesting setting. It really seems a lot of thought went into its creation.

I watched this over on G&S the other evening and I really really impressed. Episode Zero is a good watch if anyone has not seen it. Great graphics and post work in Episode One. I like the world that this is set in and the complex backstories too. Oh, and Alison Haislip has the best posture on the couch. :)

Hi Wil, Hank, Alison, Laura, and Yuri. I was thouroughly entertained. I did see Episode 0 as well. Here is a list of what I love about the show, in no particular order: No battlemap and minatures cluttering up the game table. Character sheets that don't resemble a tax return porfolio. Simple resoulution of actions. The players having the freedom to add to the narrative regarding if there are any collateral effects of another character's action. The GM being mentally nimble and flexible, and of course weaving a fun and interesting story. Ok. I will stop now. I have sufficiently lavished all of you with enough love for one posting. Now a message for Aankia, Kiliel, Lemley, and S'Lethkk: Stay frosty and watch your six!

I am digging this. I really like the Titansgrave setting and the storytelling is pretty cool but like any good story it's the characters that make it great. Their diverse backgrounds are interesting and the cast does a good job at bringing out the character's personalities. On a side note... I cant help but feel like this has a slight hint of Guardians of the Galaxy which I like. I can't wait to see what chapter 2 brings for these adventurers. Watched this a couple of times already over at Geek and Sundry, I think this is awesome. I love the setting, I love the cast, the story I will have to wait to give my opinions on, but it was a strong start. However there is one thing I must honestly say I am not a fan of, it's when you cut out banter. I think a very integral part of this show is not just seeing the players interact with the story, but also all the table talk banter too, I know the group is new so they might not be able to play off each other fully yet, but personally, the only thing I can see to improve the show is to leave in all the banter. I honestly wouldn't care if the episode was twenty minutes longer if the banter was good.

Wil explained in a livestream Q&A that there are just some things that had to be taken out, such as inside jokes; one example is the test game Wil ran with the cast, called "The Orc and The Pie". There were moments during the main production and filming of the show where they reference it through battle cries and stuff. Since the test game was not filmed, it would be something that the audience would be confused about. It's a kind of thing you have to be careful about in editing.

Okay, sure, things like inside jokes definitely no-one will get is something to cut out, I'll admit that, but if it's just general banter or references to something people in the audience have a chance of getting then I think it should be left in. Cut out the banter the audience will never get by all means, but I think shows like this are at their best when as much of the filming makes the final product as possible. I have to say this though, while I don't like banter being cut out, a huge round of applause should go to the editing team, the work is absolutely amazing and amplifies the atmosphere.

This is the most fantastic RPG series I have ever watched. I am definitely a big fan of critical role, and Laura Bailey by extension. But that show pails in comparison to this one, not because of the Titansgrave system. But because of the incredible production quality, which still amazes me on the third watch through this. But also the personalities, these 5 people are such a pleasure to watch. RPGs like DnD to me aren't really entertaining to watch other people play Critical Role does it because of their personalities and the voice acting which is really nice. This show does it by making it super bad ass and fun.

I have a great memory of someone trying to distract a wasted crowd and robbing them. A half-demon (standard stuff, loses control sometimes) psychic warrior picks a fight with some snobby customer. Meanwhile an elven rogue and a half-elf beguiler picks pockets. The half-demon loses control, cracks the skull of the snobby customer, only surviving due to our cleric healing him. The beguiler has a sudden introduction with the inn door as guards show up, arrests the half-demon and throws him in jail, the rogue slipping away and the beguiler follows suit, nose bloody. MEANWHILE, the moral compass of the group, a lawful good samurai (me), has fixed an audience with the city's panarch. Me, being the only good character in the group have my hands full trying to keep everyone on track to stop an army of demons. Best moment of the campaign when it all has been resolved, I look at the player of the half-demon, whom I've warned not to lose control to the demon inside, and scream ''DID YOU CONSIDER WHAT I'LL DO WHEN I FIND OUT ABOUT THIS? I FUCKING WARNED YOU, GOD-FUCKING-DAMN-IT!'' Obviously everyone were laughing, t'was hilarious. Table-top RPGs are the best.

The beer is saved! There is a small moment that stood out to me during this episode I really enjoyed. Yuri and Laura high-five each other, and a faint metal sound plays as their hands meet. I went back to rewatch it and realized it was because the hand Laura used to high-five Yuri with would have been metal for Lemley. A subtle detail I doubt I caught during my first viewing of this show. :)
