This video explores how moments of connection with nature or a non-judgmental gaze from a baby can momentarily liberate us from our incessant thinking. Eckhart Tolle describes these instances as glimpses of the spiritual dimension that can affirm the value of life, even for those not consciously on a spiritual path.

About Eckhart:
Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most inspiring and visionary spiritual teachers in the world today. With his international bestsellers, The Power of Now and A New Earth-translated into more than 50 languages-he has introduced millions to the joy and freedom of living life in the present moment. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States,” and in 2011, Watkins Review (now Watkins Mind Body Spirit) named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world.”
Eckhart’s profound yet simple teachings have helped countless people around the globe experience a state of vibrantly alive inner peace in their daily lives. His teachings focus on the significance and power of Presence, the awakened state of consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking. Eckhart sees this awakening as the essential next step in human evolution.

I was first introduced to Eckhart Tolle twenty years ago. I was lent a copy of The Power of Now. I tried to read it, but it sent me to sleep! Life went on... (I did return the book. I found it under my bed some weeks later). Now, I have reintroduced myself to Eckhart via ebooks and Audible. I get it, now! He is the clearest spiritual teacher for me. This just goes to show that every soul has a time. Everyone is ready when they're ready.

When they said she was going crazy, she was awakening. When they said that she was isolating, she was healing. When they said she was acting funny, she was growing. When they said that she had changed, she was evolving. When they said she did not care anymore, she finally realized that her peace lives within. When they said he was becoming distant, he was learning to trust himself. When they said he was losing touch, he was finding his inner voice. When they said he was being stubborn, he was asserting his boundaries. When they said he was aloof, he was finding solitude and serenity. When they said he was being unrealistic, he was dreaming bigger.

Very valuable teaching. Most if not all suffering comes from the thoughts the brain secretes. Very important to pay attention to (or observe) the thoughts passing through the mind because thoughts are the #1 cause of suffering. If thoughts can be observed without any negative emotion, you are well on your way to freedom from suffering. Also, a good understanding of emptiness (of inherent existence) is indispensable.

I had 2 NDE's and it was pure awareness. There was no time, everything was simultaneous. Consciousness/Awareness is like the sun, illumination of everything, no separations, no divisions. Just like the sun illuminates everything with no preferences or judgements, totally neutral, total acceptance of ALL that is. Consciousness or Awareness is like this and is what we really are, but it's not identifiable as an object. It's very difficult to try to convey what is so intimately KNOWN.

Beyond thinking? If you are not thinking you are in a sleep dream state. We are always in a thinking state of mind. The mind is a thinking thing; however. you must discern the difference from confused negative thoughts and clear and true ideas that reflects the thinking mind of God.

No that is incorrect. In deep meditation there is cessation of thought; one transcends thought and experiences the true essence of the mind which is sattvic. Patanjali’s yoga sutra 1.2 is “Yogas citta vritti nirodhah” which refers to this cessation of thinking or “fluctuations of the mind”. This is the whole purpose of meditation/spiritual practice.
@mariej5319
@mariej5319 6 ай бұрын
Also, in the dreaming state of conscious the mind is not “beyond thinking” as you state (hence why we dream). In the deep sleep state of consciousness, the mind is beyond thought, but this is a very different state to the transcendent state experienced in meditation.

Let me break this down as I see it. Quote; " Zen" , the aim of Zen is to achieve sudden Enlightenment. The problem is when one empties mind and transcends rational thought, they have learned something that they have been seeking but what they learned or found, they think it's an illusion. So now they are in a revolving door of confusion because every time they are in Zen mode to achieve sudden Enlightenment, they again wont believe what they have learned and therefore think it's an illusion. And that is because all Teachers and Gurus do not have a clue what is really communicating from within and the purpose of the information. The point is, it is not your choice to turn off or delete your physical source within imprinted knowledge being relayed to your physical brain. The best meditation you can give yourself is sleep. ie 8 hours work, 8 hours play and 8 hours sleep. Thats all.
