When I was 8 yrs old and saw this for the first time, I knew the best fighter in the movie was that Vidal character. But I didn't know the extent of his involvement, crane kick, stunt double, etc. Wow!

Brilliant video Joe! Darryl seemed to enjoy being interviewed as much as you seemed to interview him. I think this is a new twist in your video making and I really liked it. I think this is something you should do every now and again. Anyway thank you for the amazing content and for being the expert extraordinaire of the Karate Kid.

Thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it... On my last video, you left a comment suggesting that I try to interview Ralph Macchio. I was unable to find contact to him, but I did interview another actor from Karate Kid... Now, I really enjoy watching this interview (hopefully more people will view it and enjoy it soon). But thank you for the idea of interviewing a Karate Kid actor!

I was fortunate enough to get some training with Sensei Vidal recently, he's a 10th-degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo. It was incredible to meet him, he gave us a 1 hour class in kumite (sparring), with a focus on speed, and he had so many invaluable insights, I'm really grateful to have had that opportunity. This was part of a tournament, and after my fight at the tournament (I ended up getting third in men's 18+), he personally came up to me and said he watched my fight and was very impressed. I'm 40 years old, so I'm not what I used to be, and that made me feel really good. And he remembered my name from our brief introduction the day before. Sensei Vidal is a class act. Here's my fight (I was the red belt, I lost): kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGnddJythbh6eZY

Vidal should come back in the last season of Cobra Kai. We could also use that opportunity to get some behind/distance shots of him for new Miyagi flashbacks
@Joelikesmoviesnstuff Жыл бұрын
That's a great idea... Now you also have me thinking: these days the producers have a technology option which didn't exist in 1984: deepfake. They could get new close-up shots of Darryl Vidal practicing (or even fighting), and afterwards they could digitally put Pat Morita's face over Vidal's. I feel that would truly justify using deepfake of Pat Morita for a flashback scene... I wonder how Vidal would feel about doing that. I'd still like for Vidal to have some other type of a cameo in Cobra Kai (during which we actually see his real face).

Great stuff, man, what would you do for a Batman movie?
@Joelikesmoviesnstuff2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Michael... Batman? First off, I saw the new Batman movie and I overall liked it a lot... But what would I do if I was writing and producing a Batman movie myself? First, let me be honest that Batman is not my favorite character (I like him, he's just not my favorite). But I personally would probably make the movie about a slightly older Batman working with the Tim Drake version of Robin. And I'd have the main villain be the Jason Todd version of Red Hood. And of course I'd have Dick Grayson's Nightwing show up in the picture (can you guess that I like the character of Robin?)... But if not Red Hood, I'd just really like for the main villain to be any comic book character who has never been seen in live action before... I'm not sure how popular such a movie would be, that's just something I'd like to see. How about you?

By the way, here's a little trivia for you: In 1966, DC Comics created a superhero character called the Karate Kid (real name Val Armorr) who became a member of the Legion of Super Heroes. When the Karate Kid movie was made, the filmakers had to get permission from DC comics to use that title (despite the fact that their movie had no connection to the comic character).
@michaellucejr.63742 жыл бұрын
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff yeah I had heard of that character from legion of superheroes
@Joelikesmoviesnstuff2 жыл бұрын
@@michaellucejr.6374 Okay... I wonder if DC comics were to bring him back now, if some people might give him a look simply because Cobra Kai has made the title Karate Kid popular again... I guess that's unlikely considering comic readers didn't seem to look at him when Karate Kid movies were at their peak of popularity in the 80s.
