I've always appreciated Paul Burrell ~ the Queen and Diana chose well. He has a good heart and I certainly don't begrudge him any success or celebrity he has gained since the death of his beloved employer. Thank goodness Diana had 'her rock' in Paul. Someone needed to give her that kind of love and support on a daily basis.

He was grieving! He spent over a decade making his daily life about her. I believe him. He was the only “male” constant in her life. Yes, he was an employee….however, he was all she had. It’s a fine line!

Diana freely gossiped with several people who worked in the royal household. Through his former wife , he got a job working for the royal household.. But Diana had a bad habit of severing relationships when people were truthful with her. At the time of her death, she was NOT speaking with her sisters, her brother, her mother, and Fergie . She apparently told many people they were “ her rock”. Which Burrel often proudly claims. But intimates of Diana tell us she said that to an assortment of people! In my opinion, he did have a reasonably close relationship with her butler, Mr Burrel. He LOVED the royals and working for them as servant. In my opinion, he had a crush on Diana and he was simply an employee to her. The woman has been dead for well over 20 years and he is still reaping the reward of having been her employee. It is not just the money to Burrel . But it is about the FAME and he is still milking the opportunities the association offered him.

@marilynwillett804 Wrong! He said "whatever "being in love" means. Totally different meaning. None of these "millions of men" ever proposed to her - even the ones who slept with her - but couldn't imagine living with some one so needy and mentally unstable. Of course I'm not referring to all of her lovers who were already married. There is not one dot of proof that Charles called Camilla. In this video Diana is the most like the statue of her at Kensington Palace - the clothes, the hair. William and Harry don't remember how she looked when she was glamorous and in her twenties and this is the period they remember. They chose a photograph to be replicated with a statue and that is how she looked at the end. At 16:08 her hair is exactly like it is on the statue.

Everyone need a Paul, someone they can trust 100%. When she had no one there she could trust or felt friendless, she had Paul. He understood her & protected her, he knew she was very young for her age. She needed a best buddy & protector. It was Di herself that made Paul much more than just a servant. After her death, I think Paul might have kept her things entrusted to him for her sons, not to sell so that whole thing was a slap in the face for Paul. He loved her boys like family. He was one of the last people she talked to before the accident. I think most of us heard about that conversation which was her hoping her doctor boyfriend was jealous enough about her time with Dodie to make a move. Their relationship had gone on long enough in secret & she didn't like that. He can write all the books he wants now, the Royals have very few secrets left from back then & him writing about his life is fine in my book, I'd buy it!

Trust Paul 100%? He betrayed her when he wrote his book. He also stole Diana’s belongings and was prosecuted for it. He only got away with it when, during his trial, the Queen made a statement that she remembered he had told that he had taken some of Diana’s belongings for safe keeping. The Queen only said that because Pauls Barristers said they would call the Queen to give evidence in court to corroborate his story. Imagine that! Paul Burrell is despicable IMO

The reason Queen Elizabeth II suddenly remembered during Burrells trial that he had told her he had taken Princess Diana’s belongings for safe keeping was because Burrells defense Barristers intended to call the Queen to give evidence in court. Can you imagine that? No! Neither can I. The man is not only an opportunist but also a liar. For instance he turned down 1 million then 2 million pounds for his book but accepted £350.000 from the Daily Mirror to serialize snippets from his book, knowing full well that the book would sell through such blatant free advertising through the Mirror to bring him so much more wealth. Burrell IMO is absolutely despicable.

Diana got what she needed from Paul as a employee then friend. Paul also got what he needed from her, a friendship with boundaries. I must say this, that the only thing that makes an aristocrat an aristocrat is how much money and land they have. Who cares about the bloodline. We all have bloodlines. If you trace any aristocratic bloodline , it would start with a man , usually, earning a living then buying land and animals. Then hopefully more is accumulated and you start getting wealthy. Well, when you die your son usually inherits all your hard earned money and estate. Then, the generational wealth continues. It really is stupid to think that Diana's sister thinks she is better than Paul simply because she's from the Spencer family. I know there history thank you. It's always about money, bottom line. How superficial.

I think you are very gullible, and can't believe you actually believe this rubbish! Diana was raised in the upper class of British Society and to even imply such a thing that she would lower her self to talk about private things with a servant would not happen. He sister is right, she had many friends and family, was very close to her sisters and brother, so this is all crapola, drummed up by this man who is an opportunist and is making a lot of money by these lies and innuendo! Why the press keeps talking to him after what he did, and has no shame about it, is beyond me! He even deceived his own wife, don't you see that?

and as far as The Spensers go. her brother Charles had turned his back on Diana when she needed him most. She'd asked if she could stay at Althrop, during her divorce when she didn't know if she'd end up with a home or not and he refused her. She hadn't talked to him in years at the time of her death. Her sisters were leading their own lives and also were absent. Paul felt, and rightfully so that her memory belonged to the People and not the Spensers. It's awful what they put him through.

I don't blame Paul for taking Diana's possessions at all. He describes that turbulent time after her death, with her sister sitting at Diana's desk; shredding everything and the servants (instructed by the royals) taking everything out and trashing it, all her furniture, even the carpet down to the floorboards. I'm sure he felt history was going into the shredder, there will be nothing left of this woman by the time they're done. it will be like she never existed. he probably had dreams of one day opening the Princess Diana memorial Museum (AND I MIGHT SAY we don't have anything like that today!!! 25 years later) what did the Althrops do with all her clothes, her letters, her photos????? probably either burned them/tossed them into a dumpster or they're rotting away in some storage unit. wouldn't it be nice to have a Princess Diana Memorial Museum in London????? Millions would still visit. Of course King Charles wouldn't want that but is it really his place to make that decision?? She was and always will be 'the people's princess".

With a cruel cold mother, we couldn't have expected a non toxic person from charles. He was ruthless with Princess Diana - when she threw herself down the stairs while being pregnant, he shouted how as usual she is being dramatic and went off for a horse ride!! This is such crapola! He was neither of what is claimed here, he is an opportunist and a thief, who after 10 years working for the Queen he never rose above the rank of footman! Unfortunately many of those who worked with him, did not want to talk about him, some have, but he was certainly NOT her confident he was an ambitious opportunist looking out for himself, he was cheating on his wife with other men, she had no idea, he stole Diana's property, saying he was saving them, because her mother and sisters were shredding things which was their right! Many of her servants stole from her, he was one of them! The Princes are disgusted by his behavior, and do not view him as her defender or "keeper" of her legacy! The only reason he isn't in prison, is because Charles did not want his sons to suffer any more emotional pain, and it was time to let the whole thing rest! Then he wrote books full of BS, and has made a fortune exploiting his position, and it just keeps getting more and more ridiculous! It's time people realize this man is a fraud and stop giving him voice!
