If you look at it statistically, it is just about impossible for there to even be life in the universe. The odds are several quintillion to one, but yet here we are. My theory is that there must be a similarity of evolution pattern between the races ( The quarians, asari, humans, kett, and drell followed one, the turians, protheans, and krogan followed another) that leads to similarities in body structure. The only races I can't fit into this are the volus and vorcha, who are just goddamn weird.

I think if they took away the mouth and dimples and left them as "handsome collectors" they'd be more okay looking. Maybe the nose too, the nose is just too darn human. I hated the white eyes but we see later that their eyes are mainly black with sort of grayish irises. The Archon, one of the leaders of the Kett that we all know about and his cool basket ball skullshield carapace, has blue irises and black eyes. Here's a Chosen with the new black eyes and gray irises. www.mercurynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/mass-effect-andromeda.jpg I can't find any Destined or Anointed up close with their eyes visible, and as far as we know, Fiends lack eyes and so do the Kett dogs, so I'd wager the eyes are okay. Maybe there will be a mod to make their lips thicker and take away the dimples so that they look more like the second-to-last concept art piece and be a bit more alien. I would really like to see some aliens that aren't specifically designed to be empathized with by humans. It removes the alien nature of the different races. "here, we have some humans with bone armor" "here, we have humans with turtle heads" "here, we have humans with tentacle hair" Make races more like the Hanar, Elcor, or Rachni.

These buildings you mentioned as "Kett buildings" are actually Remnant buildings. When I saw the first gameplay of MEA (inside of a vault) I immediately thought about the Collector base. Many things I saw in the remnant vault reminded me on the collectors. So.. what if the remnant are actually the Protheans or Collectors? Protheans used beam weapons, remnant weapons are beam weapons. I think these Remnant are Protheans (or Collectors). These flying remnant could actually be "indoctrinated" Hanar, they look like mechanical yellyfishes after all! :D My theory is the following: Some Protheans and/or Collectors fled from the Reapers, went to Andromeda. Maybe there were two factions among them. One faction that was against AI and technology in general and one that achieved the synthesis ending for themselfs.. And what if the faction that was against AI's and all that stuff was made into a collector and somehow freed (would be possible! Don't think that Reaper-Mind-Controlling-WiFi-Signal reaches into other galaxies! :D). These guys would be highly modified Protheans. Protheans that were changed, not just by changing their DNA, but also by putting some reaper tech into their bodies (as Sovereign did with Saren). Wouldn't it be possible that such "Collectors" develop into something like the Kett at some point? It would explain, why these guys prefer technology that's based on organic structures (?). It would also explain, why they have technology attached to their bodies, under/in their bone armor. The game would still not touch the Reaper storyline if Bioware would chose such a storyline. Telling us that these are some Prothean refugees and that something happened to these people would be all we need to know in order to understand what's going on. I don't want to spoil anything, but IGN posted another video today.. one about the Nexus. [MILD SPOILER-ALERT!] They showed a little clip. In this clip Scott Ryder visited dad Ryders room. In it he appearently found a log, which was from some very blue archeologist we know. Why would Alec Ryder have such a thing? Why would he have prepared himself for the possibility that he has to study a species that is long gone..? Or did he actually study these logs in order to learn more about our four-eyed friends, because he was expecting to meet them..?

The devs said that the protheans will either have a a few references but will not be a major part of the game. the beam rifles the Andromeda natives have are very different from the prothean ones. the Remnant come in all shapes and sizes not just hanar-ish and i am pretty sure they would have used a different species instead of one of their main food supplies. I am not suprised that papa Ryder has a recording of liara due to her being an extremely popular Archeologist after ber discovery of the prothean VI.

Nah, the Remnant are simply that: programmed machines. We've already established that (watch the trailers). Unless the Protheans fled the Milky Way thousands of years ago and turned into unthinking machines that is...so I think your theory is very very very unlikely ;)

Well.. these Remnant disappeared at some point. Their "upgrades" might be the reason for that. And by the way: They have already established that Shepards mind could be transfered into a reaper in ME3. This means that it was in some way possible to strip even a Reaper from it's programming. We also don't know how old these Remnant are. Reapers were made to work for millions of years, somehow. This doesn't mean that every machine can "live" that long :) Something must have happened to their civilisation at some point. Their technology appears to be as advanced for the in Andromeda living species, as prothean technology was for all these species in the milky way. Because of that I think it's pretty unlikely, that the Kett have anything to do with the disappearence of the Remnant. This tells me that there could be a bigger threat in this galaxy.. or that their own technology was responsible for their disappearence. There is also the fact, that many structures inside these vaults look like the ones we know from the collectors. We saw one door in the first 4k trailer. This door looks exactly like the ones we saw on the collector base. And I hope Bioware did not just copy&paste an esset and assigned it to a new species. That would be weird..! :) (PS: Sorry for my bad english!)

I think the khett are possibly more advanced than the protheans ever were, its possible that the khett have single handedly defeated a reaper invasion of andromeda. Remember the reaper harvest cycle was because of the chaotic nature of the milky way species, perhaps the reapers left the andromeda galaxy alone because the khett were able to keep peace and harmony among the andromedan races.

Depends entirely on the history of the Leviathans. I disagree with the youtuber in that Reapers were not "invaders" they were creations of the Leviathans that simply grew out of control. We only know that they would come to the Milky Way, harvest, and then recede back into Dark Space (the space between galaxies) and hibernate until the next harvest. But everything created was, as stated in ME1, made by the Reapers.

Allegedly during one of the gameplay videos, it was spoiled that the Kett are NOT actually natives to Andromeda. Like the Milky Way races, they too happen to be explorers in their own right. But I do like the comparison you draw with the First Contact War. However, Bioware has stated in the past that Andromeda will be stand alone so we may not see an Andromeda 2. We may explore more of the galaxy in a future title but perhaps Andromeda is just setting the history and lore from which the next game will follow. Who knows what Bioware will adhere to.

Really enjoyed the video. Curious what you think about the following though: The first 3 games are loosely based off the Fermi Paradox and the galactic extinction cycles. Which can both be explained by the reapers in ME. From what we've seen so far of ME A what if they are taking another theory in to account, the one of the Vinge Singularity? The Ket could be those left behind when the rest of the race 'ascended' to a new plane of existence, while the Remnant is the remains of the high level of technology they no longer can use. The Ket that were left behind would have resentment towards highly advanced races and the effects of the singularity would've been so dramatic on those left behind they would seek to prevent more races from achieving it. Welcome all thoughts :)

I respectfully disagree. The Reapers 'solve' the Fermi Paradox. As Dr Caleb A. Scarf said in his blog post relating to this exact idea "It's a grand ol' piece of sci-fi opera, but it also provides a neat solution to the Fermi Paradox via a number of ideas: a) The most truly advanced interstellar species spends most of its time out of the Galaxy in hibernation. b) Purging all other sentient (space-faring) life every 50,000 years puts a stop to any great spreading across the Galaxy. c) Sentient, space-faring species are inevitably drawn into the technological lures and habitats left for them, and so are less inclined to explore. These make it very unlikely that until a species is capable of at least proper interplanetary space travel (in the game humans have to reach Mars to become aware of what's going on at all) it will have to conclude that the Galaxy is a lonely place." Revix773 except it doesn't. You don't seem to understand the Fermi paradox, the paradox it's useless in a universe when dozens of races are known to each other. The reapers would solve the paradox if they were the reason that humans haven't had contact with other races, but that doesn't happen in Mass effect, they have contact with dozens of races, disproving Fermi's paradox and proving Drake's equation.

My knowledge of the Drake Equation is limited to what I just read so I will bow to you on that one. My point I guess on the Fermi Paradox is that it will always be disproved. The whole theory is based around the question Why? and so the reapers provided the why at least in the ME universe. Yes I agree with you that once The first Contact War occurred or even yet the discovery of the Martian archives, the Fermi Paradox becomes a mute point.

One other Kett theory I have considered is that their bone outer shells are both blessing and curse to them. How about this. The bone exoskeleton is their versions of hair and nails, some might even carve or shape them similar to how humans paint, dye, style or tattoo our skin/hair/nails. However the bone could continue growing throughout their lives even in response to injuries or environmental conditions, older Kett might eventually be outgrown, or crippled by their own skeletons. A very rare genetic disease in humans is "Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva", in which muscle and connective tissue become ossified and bones grow out of control. What if the Kett naturally suffer from something similar. Living with a terminal disease was handled quite well in Thane Krios storyline, maybe something similar could be applied to this new race.

I have this theory that Kett might be Prothean, but that the Remnant are an evolution of either Prothean and/or Kett, as well. Like, they're a synthesis of Organic and Synthetic, sort of like what the Milky Way races become after you pick the Synthesis ending in Mass Effect 3. The Synthesis Kett decided that all Kett would become like them and if these other Kett wouldn't cooperate, it would force them or eradicate them, thus beginning a war between the Original Kett and the Synthesis Kett. Ultimately, the Original Kett would win the war, perhaps through the use of a superweapon, and seal whatever was left of the Synthesis Kett away in "Vaults", which serve as prisons. Or Perhaps the Synthesis Kett realized they were losing the war and decided to seal themselves away in the Vaults.

Khettmay look similar to the Protheans we know, however in ME3 we learn the Prothean empire wasn't one race, instead each race the Protheans conquered became known as Protheans despite still being genetically different, so it is possible the Khett were one of these races, seeing as th Empire lasted against the Reapers for several thousand years, suggesting a huge span of territory and if the Reapers focused on our galaxy, in theory the Protheans subjects in the other regions of space could still be thriving.

It is more likely that the Kett are not native to Andromeda; they are from a totally different galaxy, and are trying to find a new home in Andromeda the same way the Milky Way galaxy is. That is why we would feel empathy towards them.

I do think even if the Prothean Kett Relation theory is not true (which it likely isn't true), there's a chance the Protheans had already expanded into Andromeda. IMO it looks like the Kett are smile lar to the Geth, I don't mean machines but in the way the seem to have some sort of religion and reverence of something more advanced than them. Hence the religious designations like 'anointed' and 'chosen'. Just like some of the Geth was like a cult revering the Reapers. Perhaps the Kett revere the Remnant etc. I also think the Remnant were once a flesh and blood ancient aliens but died out from their own machine creations, the remnant machines we see in the game.

My thoughts are that the Remnants will play the role of the Flood from Halo. You know, we're running around fighting the Kett, chasing them, as they look to unearth more Remnant technology only to find some dangerous threat that looms deep within the core of planets. One video way back when, suggested that the planet they were on, I think they were in a vault, was completely artificial.

and what if they look similar because the artists are similar? turians and krogan are similar in the way their legs are attached to their torso... but they are not related. both protheans and collectors have 2 sets of eyes. those guys don't. collectors have insects like chitin kind of armor, proteans seems to not have at all (natural i mean) those guys have bones. they are not similar. maybe a bit my style, but that's all and it's exactly that - the style of the artists. they still want to look like a mass effect game.

I made my comment because you seemed to not be aware of that, no need to be an ass about it. Your comment implied that collectors and protheans share similarities for no reason. The collectors are the last protheans (not including the dlc prothean companion) even if they are genetically altered, therefor they are protheans. A carrot that is genetically modified to grow faster is still a carrot. Also what is the point of your comment, pal? Your points are convoluted and your reasoning is awful. The new races are some of the laziest designs I've ever seen. It's a human face on an alien body, we already had a the quarians for that niche. If you had seen the concept art for the kett, they passed off hundreds of interesting *alien* looking designs for something they probably think makes them more relatable, but it actually makes them look goofy as hell and in the uncanny valley territory in very a bad way. Of course that's just my own opinion on the design choices bioware has made recently. If you think these guys look cool, good for you.

lets start one by one. no part of my original comment implied that i don't know protheans and collectors are not the "same" species. i have played the games 5-6 times each. i know the lore.
