Just an FYI: your tub brake is working as it should. Direct drive washers can have very aggressive brakes. I would have filled it overnight, let it sit and check the floor in the morning to see where the water is.

Thank you Matt. The sad thing is that, at the time, i did not have the means to take the machine with me. I would have loved to have taken it and fixed it.

Obviously my kenmore 70 series is not the same as yours as removing the clips in the beginning was not the same process as mine. Thanks to your method parts of mine are destroyed. Bad design on kenmores part. There should be no difference we have the same exact model name

Came here because the title implied you were going to solve a LEAK problem. No where was that accomplished!

The process used in video should help you discover where the leak is coming from. not all leaks are the same

$300?..lol.... since it's not a newer front loading washer, a machine of that caliber, you can purchase refurbished for $80 to $150. That Part.

These older , direct drive machines are worth way more than a new front load if you know what you have. the only company that makes these type of durable machines is Speed Queen, not cheap. these old machines are built to last for decades. if you find one for $150 buy it and throw your new front load in the trash

Sheesh, you should have put it in the highest setting as water will reach the gasket or seal where the long shaft of the gear case goes into. That's where it leaks when doing regular load will not make it to leak if all the mechanicals checks out. For a less than $10 shaft seal, you made the customer buy a new washer. Those old washers are my cash cows!

Tub Seal cost $6 plus shipping. I forget how much the brake assembly cost. My labor to get at the Tub Seal and put it back together was $300. The customer wanted a new machine, rather than spend the $400. It was obviously leaking from Center. No need to flood the floor again.
