The key to the Pullrite Superglide Hitch

I explain the process of hooking up to, and unhooking using the Pullrite Superglide hitch.

I have one. It's a great hitch. Just make sure you use that WD-40 ! and keep the slack adjusted or the hitch will bang around when you're no hooked up to your trailer Thanks for the video. It is nice to see someone doing things correctly. As an old retired trucker, I know what to watch for.

Good video. One thing about unhitching. When you are where you want to be, chock behind the trailer wheels or engage your trailer brakes with the truck controller., and just barely back up a bit, listening for the hitch to "hit' the front of the hitch. This takes the pressure off the jaws and you can pull the lever up and out easily. This was a major problem for months until I saw someone comment on it. Has saved me many headaches.

I had to figure this out on my own too except I use the emergency brake on the truck. This is a definite must know for the SG.

I had this hitch for 2 years and worked well with my short bed F-250. However, there is a learning curve to this hitch. Once you figure out the nuances of this hitch, it works great. It’s very noisy and clunker. When it starts making excessive noise you can adjust the hitch by tightening up the bolt that is behind the hitch. Spray it down with lots of WD-40 and all is good. Not gonna lie, I bought a full size bed truck with a standard hitch and the standard receiver is so so so easy to connect and disconnect your rig.

I have same hitch and do it very similar. For loading, I tend to pull in a big more, for my second adjustment, and then tip the plate up so it's barely on the head similar to when you back off. I'm not wanting the truck to lift the 5th wheel at all. You did great on yours too. Nice job.

I have also found that when un-hooking, if you back into blocks or tire chocks, it helps with un-hooking

Great Video.. I'm 97% sold on the hitch. Just a quick tip, I also have the factory auto leveling suspension on my Ram 3500. To keep the system from auto leveling while hitching up, put the suspension system on "tire jack" mode. Go to suspension settings on the uconnect system and press tire jack. Once your hitched up, turn off the tire jack mode and the truck will level out. Awesome job on the review.

My truck came with the puck system. So when I ordered the hitch, I let them know the system I had and everything came with it

Is that the 2315 hitch model? Would it fit a 2022 3500 with the puck system? Thank you.

If I remember correctly, yes, it is the 2315. I'm sure it would fit, but just in case, I would check with Pullrite's website, very easy to figure out the right hitch for your truck.

I have a short bed, or standard bed on my 3500 SRW and am considering this hitch -- is the point of this hitch to make 90 degree turns without the fear of hitting the cab? What are your thoughts?

that is exactly the point of this hitch. other options are get a standard hitch and just be careful. (no way I'm going to chance that), or you can get cheaper hitches that you have to get out of the truck and flip a switch to allow it to slide back. also, not a good option in my opinion.

I have an F250 with the 6 3/4 bed with this hitch. I took it to a parking lot to test the limits of my turn and I can actually go beyond 90 degrees without hitting my cab. Something else I did was make an alley dock/90 degree back into a parking spot. This hitch makes it super easy. I have the Pullrite 2700 16K. Here is a video to watch to see what I did. The capture plate must match the make and model of your pin box manufacturer.

Can a hitch like this be pulled out without 5 guys helping for winter time or when I need to haul stuff. Or would you consider this model better for a guy who is able to leave it in full time.

I really like this hitch. I bought a cheap engine hoist from Harbor Freight so I can pull it/install it in about 15-20 minutes by myself.

i set a ATV winch from harbor freight 2500 pounds or you can find a 120volts electric winch set in the middle of mi garage rafter i use a yellow strap also from harbor freight wrap around the bars to lifted

The bed on my truck is 6.5', and the dry weight of my trailer is 15600 lbs. Have had no issues at all with this hitch. Just keep the rails lubed with WD40 and check the adjustments once in a while and you're good to go.

Let me ask. So once you unhook your trailer, the fifth wheel hitch in the back of your truck stays unlocked. Is there a way to lock your hitch into place so it doesn’t move? Do you understand?

ya, I know what you mean. There's an adjustment bolt, so when you initially set the hitch up, you adjust it so it won't slide around by itself, but with some effort, you can move it by hand. Pullrite has a great video about setting it up correctly.

always i lift the locking lever and goes back to locking position the lever come with stop metal piece in the bottom for keeping unlock

You do not need any grease or a disk for the friction?

I don't. It uses a catch plate and no grease or a disc is needed. It was a surprise to me when I first bought this hitch.

The claws keep closing after I unhitched and moved my truck away. I cannot open it, after pulling the handle several times. I just bought this end of February2023, so this should not be happening. I called my dealer, and I spray the claw per their instructions, but the claws are not opening?!! Please help with any suggestions?

Ya, that's not right. the Jaws should stay open until you hook back up. I'm not familiar with this issue. must be some sort of adjustment issue? maybe there's a dealer in the area that could help?

The gentleman giving the video said once the handle goes in the trailer is hooked. When I hooked up a couple months ago in Colorado the handle went in but the trailer was not hooked and fell on the bed of the truck. I called pullrite And asked them if in fact if they handle went in does that mean it’s hooked and their reply was no because you can what they call hook it high and the handle will still go in!!

This confuses me. So it does a "false hook"? I've been trusting the handle for 3 years. Did Pullrite suggest another method of confirming?

@@1964cht look on KZbin for videos on the proper way to hook up a pull right hitch but don’t trust the handle going in that the unit is hooked to the trailer

I have a hard time hitching, because my 5th wheel does not have an auto level system that returns it back to the hitching level. So I have to extend the front several times until it leveled properly before I can back into the king pin. And yes I do look, back, and I even have markers on the hitch and the king pin. But the problem is leveling it to get it hitched... it takes me about 45min to an hour. Well, I am new to this, but this hitch is not user-friendly. I wish I had bought a different type of hitch mechanism.

The auto leveling system is a huge help. Otherwise a second set of eyes would be helpful
