Fun Video! Im actually the approach controller down here in Grand Cayman! This was 26/27th of December if I can recall...... pretty much our busiest day of the year! around 50 Privates coming down and going back out in a day..... and normally all between 12-4!! (hence the CAY793 guy in front of you asking how was the traffic so far!) Some privates stay of course for the week as we saw! You surprised me with the late call. Havanas estimates that day to me were "no bueno" and so when you said 5 from GCM, I was kinda shocked as was expecting you to be outside of ATUVI. Hence why I asked the AAL behind you where he was ;) Great video and hope the departure got recorded to!
@gregmink
@gregmink 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the departure got recorded and will be posted real soon. The date of the flight was January 2nd. Havana gave me a late handoff and a late descent so it is no surprise that you were caught off guard. Everything is made more difficult for you guys as there is no parallel taxiway. So it seems to me that spacing is more dependent upon how long it takes aircraft to clear after landing as opposed to separation in the air. We needed quite a bit of separation for the 737 to clear the runway after landing since he had to back taxi. Great job. Would love to get up in the tower on a future visit. I think the youtubers would like to see what goes on up there.
@albird87
@albird87 7 жыл бұрын
Premier 1 Driver ah yes, 2nd of January was a long day to! Everyone going back home from the holidays! No Radar, no parallel does mean as you say, more space between arrivals! The DME arc does work out very well tho to remove holds (as I did tell you first to expect to hold, but we got the CAY moving in and cutting the corner once the next arrival was out the way!). We are only as good when we have good handoffs, and reports from pilots. Thankfully it all worked out here, but some days things don't go this smooth!

I'm surprised that Havana Center was making calls in Spanish. I thought that the international ATC language is English to ensure situational awareness for all.
