There's more to life than earning votes. If senators did everything every voter wanted, they'd never take any decisions. Sometimes you just have to be honest and stand by your principles which is what Feinstein was doing. The kids didnt come in there tp share their opinion. They were demanding that she does what they want and that's what she took offense at.
@ReaganRuinedEverything5 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that she was trying to make the point that she is only responsible for doing the stuff that she promised when she campaigned. I think it was the youngest girl there who said that they work FOR the people, and she is completely right they're supposed to hear our input, regardless of your age. Regardless of whether or not you voted for them, you're still a citizen... You're still an American. You still matter. The worst part about this, is I started calling my Senators when I was a teen with SOPA and PIPA. I never got this kind of push back, and Stephen King it's kind of a prick.
@arielkorn15125 жыл бұрын
She didn't scold the kids. She calmly told them that she does not agree with that plan. When she told the person to run for senate, she was talking to one of the adult supervisors in the back. I am not going to say who is right or wrong about climate change, but these kids did not have an opinion. They were simply told what to say by adults who thought that Feinstein would give in to pressure from kids on tv. Also, saying that you have to listen to me because i am a constituent is stupid; what if two constituents have different opinions (as is the case) should she listen to both?? she has chosen one side to a two sided argument. To blame say that she is wrong for ignoring these KIDS is silly.

As a voter myself I cannot understand why America has so many octogenarians as lawmakers and judges. Sure, there is no age limit for the office they hold, but why would you vote someone e.g. in the Senate again and again when that person has passed his/her peak more than 10 or 15yrs ago? Furthermore, judges should mandatorily retire at 75yrs of age at the latest, 70yrs would be fine too. That goes for SCOTUS too.

@Taco Lover Wow.....so uninformed. What data do you have that proves stricter gun laws would haven prevented those school shootings? First, specify the particular legislation that you're proposing and then state how those specific restrictions would have prevented those shootings. The gun restrictions being proposed by these kids would hardly make a difference in the gun related crimes in America. I'm for stricter gun laws but I'm also honest about the implications. What are these kids proposing to do about Alabama's abortion ban? What are these kids proposing to do about the border policy? Nothing, because those kids weren't talking about those issues and it has nothing to do with the comment or the discussion. Yes, those things are problems and they need to be fixed and there are ADULTS fighting to fix them. They have nothing to do with these kids and why you're bringing then up is....why are you bringing them up? The only topic those kids were talking about was guns. You're just adding random issues into the conversation that lend no relevance to your point.

Never too stubborn to learn things I might not like to hear. Gun control, not gun confiscation, is a gradual process, there is NO immediate measure that will drastically curtail mass shootings, but does that mean we dont at least try common sense regulations and have patience to create a safer country for the next generations? If folks love guns more than the lives of elementary aged children and are unwilling to budge on trying sensible gun control legislation then this country has questionable priorities.
