The big reminder here too is… the cops did NOT want to hear about any form of gay happenings in the 70s, so when there were reports of gay sexual violence and murder, it wasn’t taken as seriously as other cases. That’s another reason why Gacy got away with so much.

If he was black (and his victims were white), best believe police would have responded to it differently gay killings or not.

I'm sad for the boy, and it also makes you wonder how different he may have turned out without his terrible father. That's of course not an excuse for what he did in the slightest. You can definitely feel sympathy for an innocent child and still be horrified by the adult he became.

A woman I used to work with has an uncle who used to mow John Wayne Gacy’s lawn when he was about 15-16. She said that John would always invite him inside for lemonade but he always declined saying he needed to get home to take care of his mom. Crazy to think that he could have been a victim of this sick man.

The fact that, as a child, Gacy was very protective of his sisters and mother, taking beatings for them so they could be safe, but then he went on to hurt people worse than his father ever did. It’s just wild to me that he could feel that much sympathy and love to keep his mother and sisters safe but he couldn’t feel any of it not even a bit of it towards these innocent boys.

Im so happy to FINALLY see someone who doesnt defend his fathers actions because he was a veteran. There is absolutely no excuse for abusing your children. None.
@amaude
@amaude 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what videos you've watched but I can imagine we've probably had a bit of overlap. In the videos i've seen, the violent and horrific actions of jwg's father is always put in the context of explaining why he may have gone on to abuse his children amongst what was likely many other reasons. I've studied psychology at a relatively foundational level, and it's to my understanding that psychologists seek to explain and predict behaviour in order to make the case for preventing it e.g. via reducing economic inequality, stamping prejudice e.t.c. The link between jwg's father being a veteran, amongst other contextual factors specific to him, and the horrific abuse of his son is not a moral justification but instead a reflection on the consistently large body of literature that asserts that there are factors that often predict and have causal relationships to violence.
@atinyofficial
@atinyofficial 2 жыл бұрын
@@amaude yeah ive seen things like that but i have also watched videos and read articles where there was an attempt at justification for why jwg's dad abused him. In terms of psychological explanation and connection, i get that its absolutely not the same as justifying the horrific acts, im not talking about that part, just the people who attempt to justify it in some way. It makes me upset to see the glorification and ascendancy of veterans Also im not trying to sound rude at all! :)

They would maybe be able to do sketches of how they would've looked like then and now, but unfortunately, their families will probably never know what happened to them or why they disappeared 😥 though I believe some of them put two and two together and just thought their son must've been a victim of John Wayne Gacy, especially if they know for a fact their kid wouldn't just run away for no reason.

I was working as a prison guard in Illinois on the night Gacy was executed. I worked a Med-Max security camp, and the State was worried of inmate riots and the like, so every camp that is Medium or above went "Lock Down," meaning all the inmates were locked in their cells. I had to work a double shift because the worry of a riot also worried the staff. I got quite the laugh when the report that Gacy was dead came out. I had 112 inmates on my deck, and the cheering was so loud I had to cover my ears.

It astounds me that, being sentenced for sexually assaulting a child, he had a good life in prison. I don't know how that works in other countries but in mine, if any inmates find out that someone was there for ANY sort of crime involving a minor, they would give that person hell on earth, because even among most violent criminals, crimes against children are deemed the most heinous and frowned upon.

That’s still the case. I work in corrections (treatment-focused) and I knew one person who had charges for harming children and while obviously the others didn’t attack him because they had too much to lose and didn’t want to add time to their sentence, he was still treated very poorly by the other criminals. Making “head chef” doesn’t mean much since a lot of criminals incarcerated have histories with drugs so there’s a higher chance they’ll have Hep-C, which would disqualify kitchen work.

In my Criminal Psychology class, we had to do a report on a serial killer. I got saddled with Ed Gein. However, it was a requirement that we include a paragraph about at least one victim. My teacher always wanted us to remember the victims. In fact, he even described crim psych 1 as "statistically, 4 out of 5 people will be a victim of violent crime at one point in their life. This class is to make sure you are the 1 who isn't."

My dad's friend's son was a victim of Gacy's. It tore them up inside and out. Because of this, my parents were even more strict than they would have been. As an adult, I don't blame them. There was a serial killer abducting children/teens in our own community and the cops could have stopped it sooner, but didn't. A friend of my step dad's is believed to be one of his victims too. He disappeared around the same time and lived the next town over. He worked construction and was a juvenile delinquent so the cops didn't care that he was missing. This story haunted the entire Chicagoland area. You know evil people exist, but you never realize just how evil another human can be.

The stories about the survivors made me even more emotional than the ones where they didn't survive. I felt so angry for the boys who were completely traumatized and tortured horribly I can't even imagine how awful that was it almost makes me feel sick. And the fact he died painlessly makes me wish he was still alive so they could punish him. He caused so much pain, he should experience some. This is white privilege at it's 'finest', there is no way if this was a black man he would have been given the benefit of the doubt after two seperate allegations made during his probation, when he already had a rape conviction. He had some status as a previously married man managing 3 restaurants, this combined with being white and well-spoken was definitely the reason for the sloppy police work. There are black teenagers serving life for non-violent crimes.

I've always known about John Wayne Gacy but never fully knew the story or what he did. I just always knew of him as "the killer clown" which seemed like that was the smallest part of this story. It's so heartbreaking to hear about all that he has done, all those lives he took. I never knew it was this bad. Part of me finds it so hard to believe, especially for him go on for years and never be caught even after all the reports, especially considering at one point, he had children of his own. I'm glad he got the ending he deserved and I hope one day, they can identify those other remaining victims and bring closure to their families.

The reason she tells things in a different way is because she straight up makes up a ton of the background of the case and criminal. She's constantly getting responses from families of recently murdered people who have been deeply upset by her poorly researched videos. Hell the first video she ever posted the family straight up asked her to take it down immediately. Just recently she covered that Bianca Devins case, made up a bunch of shit again and initially really upset the family.

All of these boys/young men were so handsome, and their lives so precious. Looking at their pictures was truly heartbreaking. The worst part is that he managed to get away with it for so long; I think that for certain offences, no matter the perpetrator's behavior, they should serve their whole sentence. I worked in a care home where one of the residents had been a preacher. He was convicted of the murder of 3 boys who were found under his house. And his wife still visited him in the care home and would sing christian songs and pray with him. It was never clear to me if he finished his time in prison or if because of his stroke and level of care needed he couldn't stay. I honestly don't know how that works. When people in prison grow old and have serious health care needs, what do they do with them? At any rate we had to care for him, and I hated it. I felt sick. But considering his SA on these young boys, his condition was just a bit of karma. He had something wrong with his prostate and he would expel large blood clots and was in a lot of pain. Sorry for TMI. But I just thought it was rather ironic.

I hope he doesn't have a DNR. I hope he gets resuscitated every time he kicks it, just so he can be in that vulnerable state a little longer. I hope he soils himself every day and feels humiliated having to be washed by other people. I get that I'm coming off as really gross rn, but my hatred for "men of God" like that is visceral. The boys can't be brought back to life, but I hope this man stays alive as long as possible. Dying would probably mean he gets to go to heaven to him.
