Honestly, I actually love the fact that King Ren ended up being broke after all the quests. Hear me out: when he ascended to power, he promised all the hermits that he would try to fix the economy, which at the time, after the diamond race, was beyond broken. He confiscated all the diamonds (except 64) which might have seemed an extreme measure but it in fact guaranteed that there would be no massive and sudden influx of money that would crash the economy. Then, by creating the quests, he made sure all the hermits had equal access to the diamonds if they so wished and the quests were a genius idea because a) they injected /reintroduced small amounts of diamonds which stimulated the economy without crashing it and b) allows to improve the quality of life at the server. The king being broke at the end of the quests isn't a sign of failure! THE KING BEING BROKE IS A SIGN OF SUCCESS!

Absolutely. Once the quest coffers are empty, the economy will have been completely reset and the server improved. Then the king will no longer need to worry about quests and will have an easier time ruling the server and pursuing that GigaCorp deal going on far away on a mushroom island.

Under taxes Ren could add a tax for state-built infrastructure, taxes each shop pays out of its certain percentage of profit, and maybe something really stupid like a onetime payment for a royal certified contraption that must be installed at every base.

I propose a currency based on Signed Books. It'll be impossible to counterfeit if the king only distributes Copies of Copies. The contents on the books can explain how to redeem them for diamonds at a central bank or how to deposit diamonds to get more notes. The diamond standard will inspire more confidence than Derpcoin. Provided that too many people don't actually redeem them, the king can even print more of them than he has diamonds if he needs more. Just need to convince the hermits their investment is safe so there's no need to panic withdraw.

Hermits should be able to "rent" a priority quest box, so they can think of quests themselves. They have to provide the diamonds + you can ask for a fee. And because Grian already used 4 boxes, he owes you already quite some daimonds. So it's a win-win-win.

Taxes, taxes, taxes. There needs to be some kind of tax system for the kingdom otherwise your just going to lose diamonds at an exponential rate. A property fee/tax for spaces in the shopping district. Or perhaps a sales tax that takes a percentage of the earnings in the shopping district to restock the quest market. No worries ren everyone have has hard times. Glad to see you back but don't feel rushed. Also don't go overboard with the taxes or you'll end up like the French.

Hermits would need to record their sales in a ledger so Ren will know how much to tax them. Then he'd need to appoint an official tax collector. Then there would need to be transparency in what he uses those taxes for. I can understand keeping maybe 30% to pay himself and his court. The rest should be poured straight into Server Quests. I don't know. Which Hermit would be most qualified to write tax laws?

Claiming a bunch of builds might just turn the "not a resistance" into a "true resistance" but you could also use grian's idea to make a bunch of money. Let other hermits create their own quest and they pay a certain amount for it and each of the quest crystal variations have different prices.

To solve the issue of a depleting budget for the crown, you could impose a tax on all those shops that fall under royal property. This way diamonds for quests will be ensured and not run out, thus your subjects will in theory continue to fallow your decrees, and so you will not be deposed by them or by some other power.

An idea for the vault; start levying taxes. You could say “every week the hermits must pay 5 diamonds to the king” and you’ll have an input system that takes heads first, then diamonds, and lines everything up in a chest. Kinda like an auto sorter but you just tell the hermits put put their heads in before the diamonds into like a hopper system or something

Ideas on money generation: Taxes(not ideal may cause a revolution) Charging for amenities Gambling Donation quests that reward items other than diamonds Founding your own currency, may seem redundant after last season but as long you have the ability to ensure a new currency is used and as you are king you technically make the money (warning may cause inflation) Short term money generation: Quest permits, require the spending of money for the privilege of Accessing the quest hub, this may seem counterintuitive, but this shouldnt be much only enough to slightly lower the burden on you for providing the service

I am so grateful that more of you Hermits are talking about the importance of mental health. As a mom, I can talk to my kiddos about self-care (and almost literally anything else lol) and it goes in one ear and out the other (yeah, okay, mom...."). But, because Hermitcraft and many of the Hermits as individuals have been a big part of our family entertainment, our kids have long valued the thoughts and opinions that come from all of you. You should pull on over on Grian by changing his priority quests into ”community quests,” letting hermits make their own quests and putting their diamonds in as payment, further stimulating the economy! Kind of making it like a reverse of season 6 (I believe) services shopping thing!

I'm loving the server quests! It's really awesome seeing the random collabs and shenanigan crop up. Since it's September, I've got a Halloween idea: hermits sign up and each build a machine in their base that with either trick or treat a visitor. Then on Halloween the hermits can go tour the other bases and see if they get tricked or treated

Just an idea: make TFC's branch mine area as the royal mine of replenishment. You can hold a weekly mining session there to refill the king's vault with the hermits.

I understand the reasoning, but I think they'd rather not disturb what remains of TFC's presence on the server. Scar built him a tiny island with a tree next to his base as a tribute, but I haven't see anyone yet modify his small base or mines.

Idea to fund the king: -start a taxation WITH representation campaign -give the hermits 3 options to vote on: taxmen, sales tax, generous donations -allow for the people to vote and see what they truly want -rig the election anyway and let your taxmen (bdubs, iskall, and cleo) occasionally take penance from your subjects -shenanigans ensue -profit $

I really appreciate how the Hermits are focusing on their mental health. It's a difficult battle that needs to be addressed. As content creators yall push yourselves so hard for us viewers. It is deeply appreciated, and cherished. The art and soul that's put into each episode is so prevalent. Please continue to push for your and other Hermit's mental health. Season 8 had me worried for a lot of Hermits, it felt like it was breeding burnout everywhere. I was glad to see everyone take a few weeks off before Season 9 started, and a lot of Hermits are taking a step back this season, slowing down their content or taking more time off. You are rolemodels for so many people, especially younger ones. While it's amazing to see you make insane progress every episode while churning out impressively creative builds, we also want to see you just do well personally. With Season 8 being the Burnout Season, Season 9 should be the Season of mental health, self care and recovery. Thank you for talking about that openly (same for the other Hermits who do that), and you don't need to apologize.

Mhh, you could take taxes from all shops on the server, I mean they are your property. Or you could create quests to throw diamonds into the pit and award the players with more points, basically selling quest points. You could also create a bank, where the hermits can deposit their diamonds, build a few stocked atm's that players can use and use the rest for yourself xD

Here's how to replenish your diamond stocks Ren. Unpopular version: apply a tax to all transactions, hermits jave to pay a percentage of what they spend to taxes. Popular version: create a royal mine and establish daily quests to dig in it. Hermits strip mine for diamond ore and can keep a certain percentage of what they find, the rest is paid in tribute to the crown. Also, for extra incentive, add quests to mine deepslate, redstone, lapis etc from the royal mines through daily quests, specify that these quests can ONLY be completed in the royal mine, not anyone's personal strip mine

With TFC and even Technoblade in the past few months, I can understand the need to take some time for mental health. It does seem to be a common theme this season. I have a idea for getting more diamonds. Give them a choice to do a reset. They wil throw all there diamonds except 1 stack in the pit. After a reset they wil be in fase 2 or rank 2. In rank 2 you wil get on a normal quest for example 5 diamonds extra and with points ranking in rank 2 you wil get a extra point

Ren, I understand needing the extra time off, especially with TFC's passing. TinfoilChef was my favorite Hermit and his passing has hit me hard. I haven't typed one word into the [fan fiction?] novels I've been working on. I have watched TFC's Season 2 & 3 of Hermitcraft. Hopefully I can get to writing again. As for the storyline, I love it and support you completely in eliminating Grian one way or another, even if that's not the storyline, yet. 😉Who knows? Maybe the Renperor will see you turn to the Dark Side of the Force and you can just TNT the Entity. You could call it _Tthe eTNTity._ 😁

Seeing as Ren's kinda abandoning the Gigacorp plot on the back burner, I wonder if the end of the season culminates in his past stories all colliding to stop a mad Ren the King driven to the dark side by the Emperor of the Renpire. RenBob already cameo'd in the S8 Hermatrix finale, so the Cinematic Reniverse Endgame is possible.

Don't run out of diamonds. Make a new, infinitely completable quest, to throw 1 diamond block into the pit, receive 1 diamond back. They're buying the QUEST for 8 diamonds to make their towers bigger.

Two suggestions for the….definitely not bankruptcy: 1: Make the quest system a “Subscription Based Service”! To be able to participate in the quest system, you have to deposit 10 or 15 diamonds at the start of the week before you can start taking quests! It ends up being worth it since they make back way more by the end of the week. If you want to be able to keep track, you can set up a barrel and people deposit their head with their 10 diamonds so you know they paid. This is also kinda funny because it kinda plays on the fact that everything is subscription based these days. (This isn’t a total solution since you’re still giving out more than you’re making back, BUT it’s a way to help slow down the crash) 2: And then obviously a lot of people have already suggested the great idea of taxing the shops/taxing hermits in general. (….time for an IRS division of the kings court I guess??) ANYWAYS, I’ve really enjoyed this episode, and honestly this whole season!! It’s been a ton of fun, and the kings quests are honestly such a genius idea. The vault is REALLY cool! I absolutely love the design of it, and adding a warden is SUCH a cool idea. (And whenever someone gets dropped down there…. They might catch a glimpse of how broke…or rich, the kingdom really is 👀) I’m also glad that you’re taking time for yourself! I obviously don’t speak for everyone, but I think a vast majority of your fans would much rather you take that time, rather than put yourself in a bad spot mentally for another episode
