It has a digital zoom tho. This camera is priced like that because of the hype around it. but in reality its also pocketable monster. Most of the work done with it is strictly for ig and social media so its suits what it it was made for. Its simplified so you dont have to carry anthing but itself in your pocket and take shots. For 1500$ to be fair it has incredible features; 40 mp apsc, 4k60, 6.2k/30, IBIS, INBUILT NDS!!(no other camera at this price point has that), weather sealed.

@@induction7895 No it is not. The smaller the pixel the higher the noise. That is a sheer physics. If the sensor was 25Mpix-ish barely anyone of its target owners would notice since none of them prints majority of their pictures on 1.5x1 meters sized prints to benefit from the 40Mpix resolution.

The Canon G1x Mk3 is better except for video. For travel photography, a fixed 35mm lens is highly restrictive. You can’t shoot architecture unless you have a 28 or 24mm focal length. The flexibility of a zoom is not to be underestimated

A pet peeve of mine I've had since I got into photography 15 years ago is hearing primes be called "versatile". Zoom lenses are versatile, they exist because they're versatile in the exact way primes aren't. Of course you can take whatever pics you want with whatever lens, doesn't mean it's versatile. Use that 23mm for portraits and you'll probably wish it was 50-105mm for the effect on the face and the background, use it for sports and you'll wish it had any zoom at all because you can't afford courtside, wildlife photography with 23mm is a no for the most part because animals don't generally come up to you, many better options to attach to a telescope for astrophotography; it's a point and shoot camera with less versatility, since those generally have zoom lenses.

As someone who ones a x100 series camera, it really ain’t the best. You will often run into an issue of “I wish I could change my focal length”. If you want small and perfect for travel, a second hand xe4 or an xt30 will do you plenty. Now you can crop in to zoom, but that doesn’t make up for lack of background compression with increased focal lengths or difficulty composing when having to guess what the shot will look like when cropped. For a perfect travel setup, you want ease and nothing that holds you back whilst being compact. The x100 line is for those who have multiple or at least one main camera and want a second to play around with. This coming from someone who owns multiple cameras

I personally think Fujifilm have lost their allure. The release of the camera has been a disaster, and I don’t care how improved it is. The advances are negligible in my opinion, only allowing you to crop an image that you should have taken closer of but you’re too chicken to get close to your subject.

I had an X100V. Great viewfinder. Otherwise, not an enjoyable camera to use. Here's a thing I've noticed, highly-hyped gear that you can easily find on eBay, MBP and other used sites have been traded in or quickly sold on because the guy who bought it in the first place didn't like it. The X100 series are not bad, they're just boring, dull, bland. You'll get good enough pictures but you won't have any fun.

For sure the IQ is not on par with any ML camera. Lower pixel count FF cameras of today have significantly lower noise due to much larger pixels. Also the AF tracking of moving subjects is rather slow and unreliable with this camera. And of course the biggest drawback of this camera at this price point is the fixed lens. So sure, it has a lots of positives but also couple of negatives, as everything.

I personally don't think it's top drawer quality. Compare this to a top notch sony, canon or Nikon and it's a toy. Also I think Fuji is still not there with their autofocus. They are fun creative travel cameras but definitely not the best street cameras.

I'm using an X-S10 with an 18-55 2.8-4 f. Being using it for a year. I absolutely love it. 600 USD is quite decent price. I would spent another 1k for lenses and other stuff instead of buying X100VI. If you're not sure which one . definitely go for X-S10.

Look into the Olympus OM systems. They’re compact and affordable. Can take pixel shift images that equate to like 102megapixels for landscape photos etc. I’m a Nikon shooter but I recommend these cameras highly.

Get a Canon 6D ($400) used and a wide EF Canon lens ($100-300). You’ll have images 90% as good as today’s pro cameras. Later on, add more Canon EF lenses (for cheap!). Regarding image quality, today’s cameras over 10 yrs ago have made very little improvements; just added more bells n whistles, essentially. You need 4k? Not really. You need your camera to be 1/2 pound lighter, that you’ll spend $3,000 ?? Pass on that buddy.

So just so everyone is aware, pretty much any camera with a megapixel count in that range, including the one on your phone, will take photos that look like that. He’s trying to make it look like the camera is film and is just using filters on the photos, which is obviously extremely lazy.

Uh, sensors having the same mp count is not indicative of same or even similar performance, megapixels mean almost nothing outside of cropping potential for regular viewing situations. Your phone is definitely never going to take a photo that looks anything like what a 40mp camera sensor takes, that's asinine to say. I got a Xiaomi phone with a 100mp sensor, you think that shit could take a Hasselblad medium format comparable photo?

@@JohnToor Not really. Most photography is viewed on phones. Sad but true. DOF is much more easily faked in that format. Color rendition is a non-issue as well, especially after compression through whatever social media platform is used. Tonal range might be a different matter, but if its high-contrast with deep DOF, no way to really tell what's a phone pic and what's a Hasselblad, especially if the former is executed by a skilled shooter.

Not really; weathersealed, 6.2l/30, 4k/60 vid with IBIS, inbuilt ND filters, AI chip for AF? How many point and shoot cameras have such features? Ricoh GR that is the closest competitor has lousy AF and still on 1080p, also not weathersealed. Its a travel camera at most that removes the need to carry anysthing bigger. This camera is mainly catered for people who just want something simple, and with film simulations u dont have to even edit if u dont want to.
