So much of this is frustrating living in PA, it’s all up to the state run liquor stores on what is on the selves, only good thing is prices aren’t pushed to the secondary prices like a private store might do

Found north is not in Massachusetts, they are in New Hampshire. The taylor brothers are from mass, but the facility is in NH. When they blend, they dont just get Canadian whiskey and blend it. They actually get 100% corn barrels, 100% rye barrels, 100% wheat, 100% malted barely or whichever grains they use and blend all of those to get the flavor they want, so they create the mashbill after distillation, with each grain distilled separately. Its really a work of art what they do up there. I have batches 003, 005, 006, 006s second summit, 008, peregrine, and a calvados cask finished single barrel store pick thats absolutely amazing. The calvados store pick is not only one of if not my favorite found north, but probably on of if not my favorite bottle in my collection of almost 200 bottles. Just amazing what nick can do blending each grain. There are a lot of great blenders out there, but they are all blending mashbills, found north is creating mashbills. Thats just a whole other level of skill and amazingness haha

Weller FP may have the lower MSRP but it gets marked up to stupid prices around here while Found North can be bought directly from the blender. The biggest down side is the batch quantities are rather small and once it's gone, it's gone. But I've been able to get my hands on 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and a single barrel. Can you say BIG FAN?

Weller FP is $56 in NC. I've only seen it in the annual lottery, though, never on a shelf. Oh well. Lots of great whiskey that is available.

If you can find Weller Full Proof for retail, you should buy it??? And if you have a winning lottery ticket, you should cash it. Onto Found North, best Canadian whiskey ever, unfortunately you can’t buy it in Canada and you can’t have it sent to Canada due to arcane liquor laws. Hopefully in the future it will be available. I’m glad it won over Weller FP, I personally always thought it was better.

Found North completely unavailable in ID/UT. Weller anything, pretty much the same. Still good to know. Pros and cons living in the Intermountain West. We got alotta Pros out here, no doubt. But good whiskey aint one of them....

Distribution is a bummer at times to be sure, but if you have places that will ship to you, it's worth checking out Shared Pour and Seelbachs from time to time as they do stock Found North.

I thank you both for the Found North recommendations - I actually purchased my first bottle (004) during your live stream with Nick Taylor some time ago based on the enthusiasm all three of you showed. I currently have 003 - 008, 3 different single barrels and Peregrine. To say I'm a fan of their whiskey is an understatement 🙂. They truly do make some phenomenal whiskey.

TN shipping laws are tough. We ship to a friend out of state and then make arrangements to get them that way. PirateShip is a great website for sending labels for less than $10 usually.

I've been able to get my hands on FN batches 003, 008, and Peregrine. All of them are phenomenal but I have to give the edge to batch 008, with Peregrine in an extremely close 2nd place.

Cool H2H, especially considering FN 005 was released some time ago... Going to be very hard to find now (with their understandably-limited production numbers for each batch. Can you tell us if these bottles were both newly opened/neck pours? Just trying to flesh out some more details on your notes. FWIW, it's my understanding the Taylors are from the Boston area but the "facility" is just over the border in NH.

Both bottles had been opened a few months. We almost never put anything that's been freshly opened in our sample pool. There are exceptions, but they are very rare. Nick Taylor of Found North is in MA. Would be surprised if their facility is in NH but it's certainly possible.

Such a fan of Found North! I have every batch (001-008) plus Peregrine and a few single barrel ryes. I think it’s a great value. I would consider it the Northeast’s version of Four Gate. I don’t have a favorite, because they’re all delicious!

Interestingly enough it either seems to be the most or least favorite Found North for most folks. Very few rate it in the middle of the lineup for their releases.

There was that one time I was explaining the FN concept of blending sourced Canadian whisky and bottling it at cask strength with no additives to an unaware store clerk as Nick was walking into the store. Spreading that FN love one person at a time.
