Poisoned, shot, and drowned, I love how they actually worked Yusipov's account of his death into the scene around the fight! His dance-fighting was beautiful, my one critique was that the 1812 Overture felt unearned at this point and I'd have rather something like the Russian dance from Nutcracker or Vysotsky's Capricious Horses, or something else dramatically Russian and balletic playing.

The only thing true about that movie is that the British secret service had something to do with Rasputin's death. Because Rasputin had an influence on the czar's wife and was against the war, envious and nationalistic nobles and members of the duma, and the British secret service conspired against him. Felix Felixovich Yusopov lured him into his house. There he was brutally beaten up and shot by the cowardly and sneaky conspirators.

Rasputin REALLY should have been the main villain. He was fascinating to watch whenever he was on screen. I don't even remember the name of the main villain. Even when they revealed who he was, I had no idea who they were referring to until they did the flashback.
@hazardous8301

The main villain was just a generic big bad that plagues most major modern cinema. While Rasputin literally stole the show every seen he was was in, and was considerably more intimidating. They even advertised him as the main villain in the films trailers. Just for him to be a henchmen who gets killed off in the first third of the movie…….

I know I'm late, but my working theory is that Rasputin WAS meant to be the main villain. The whole first half of the movie is building up to the showdown between the two, the fight is incredible, and it resolves in a way fit for the end of a movie. However, due to Brad Allen passing away, R.I.P, they weren't able to get all of the scenes they needed for a full movie, and then moved on to the B-Plot of Conrad's death and the sacry evil guy. The whole second half of the movie felt rushed in my eyes, and I think that would explain why, they didn't have much time and needed to finish the movie on TOP of coming up with a new plot to pad out runtime. Sad to see it go this way but thankfully we still got to see this great character and amazing fight scene, even if it's short lived

@@comradericefarmerhao2269 Nope. He actually advised Tzar Nicolas II to stay out of WW1. When that failed he implored the Tzar to wait for the farmers to harvest their crops before the second draft so Russia wouldn't be plaged by famine during a war. It was the Tzar that decided to lead the men into battle personally on the front lines and left Rasputin in charge of Russia. Nicolas and Alexandra valued Rasputing as it was he who helped their son Alexi as he suffered with haemophilia which they didn't tell anyone about. It was after his death that the public turned on the Tzar as Rasputin was taking the blame for the failures of Nicolas. Most of the things Rasputin was accused of doing were rumours spread by his enemies in court, even his death is not really certain as there are conflicting reports of it.

Yes, a happily married holy man that opposed the war. A man that aided the Tsarina's hemopiliac son with simple meditations. A man that asked the Tsarina to send the Tsar to the front lines if he loved the war so much (which was pretty much guaranteed to have Russia withdraw from the conflict). What a madman ... hated by the banks so much that England and probably even the US orchestrated his death. For me it felt like they tried to wrap two or three movies into one which is why the pacing was very much all over the place. I still liked the movie well enough. The cast was great all around, the action scenes were top notch as always when it comes to Kingsman, and it did leave me wanting to see more from these characters if they ever do a follow up after the sequel to The Golden Circle finally comes out. My one big complaint is the villain. Really just an "evil for evil's sake" type of character. His motivations felt very unclear and how he managed to amas such a Spectre level organisation genuinely boggles the mind. Rasputin was great though. It was also great to see a genuinely well written father/mentor in Ralph Feines' character, who's flawed but ultimately a good man trying to do what's right for his son. Something of a rarity in modern Hollywood films these days.

This fight scene is not only an incredible feat of film from the choreographer, the late and great Bradly James Allen, but for the actors Dijmon Hounsou and Rhys Ifans as well. Bradly James Allen was a stuntman and was trained personally by Jackie Chan himself. And if you know anything about Jackie Chan he is a grueling perfectionist and his style of fight scenes operates on a very specific, swift, and almost madcap rhythm. Not a lot of actors are able to keep up with it. Plus Jackie Chan's style of choreography calls for actors actually getting hit with very few quick cuts to hide it. The fact that Dijmon and Rhys were able to pull it off so well speaks a great deal about their abilities. Also kudos to the camera crew for keeping everything fully in frame with wide shots and great lighting so we can actually see what's happening in the fight!

@@joew9690 actually while the fighting wasn’t exactly a thing, pretty much all the events leading up to the US joining the war were accurate. The war did start after the Ferdinand’s driver made a wrong turn and got him killed, the Russians did pull out of the war, the Zimmerman telegram was indeed a thing and I wouldn’t be surprised if the US president was blackmailed at some point. And Ras did indeed get poisoned before being stabbed and then subsequently shot. So they got that right.

There's credability in the myth too based on biology. The poison was arsenic, which in high doses is fatal. However, the cake that it was baked in was poisoned BEFORE it was baked, the process losing some of it's potency. Being shot is also fatal, but falling into cold water causes the body to go into shock and slow the heartrate down, thus pumping less blood, this making his wounds not as dangerous as they looked. Rasputin wasn't a wizard, he just knew his biology.
