George VI became king unexpectedly after his older brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated the throne in 1936 to marry Wallis Simpson, an American socialite. As a result, George VI, who was initially known as the Duke of York, ascended to the throne.
His reign was a challenging one, as it encompassed the tumultuous period of World War II. George VI played a vital role in boosting morale during the war and providing support to the British people. He made numerous radio broadcasts and visited war zones to show solidarity with his subjects.
King George VI was known for his determination and sense of duty. Despite suffering from a severe stammer, he worked tirelessly to overcome his speech impediment with the help of speech therapist Lionel Logue, as depicted in the film "The King's Speech." His perseverance and success in public speaking endeared him to the British public.
George VI was married to Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who became Queen Elizabeth (later known as the Queen Mother), and they had two daughters, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. Princess Elizabeth succeeded her father as Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.

It was the🇻🇦Vatican that overlorded the abdication, pushing lust-filled King Edward VIII (the sinner) out of the throne because he fell in love with a🇺🇸US divorcee (only a Century ago). 👑Note: King Charles III and Queen consort Camilla are both divorced, both guilty of adultery and they're not leaving those Thrones, Castles and Palaces until their last breath on earth.

I think this world would be in a terrible state today if Edward wasn't forced to abdicate, Hitler played with him like a puppet. I think WWII would have turned out differently had it not been for this shy King and the greatest man of the 20th-Century🎩Sir Winston Spencer Churchill. 🇬🇧✌🏻❤️

Edward didn't have to abdicate because he wanted to marry divorced Wallis, but because Wallis and himself were nazi sympathisers
