The way I understood it, when hitting his own reflection in the egg with the Dream Nail, the knight is taken to his own memories of the time when he tried to escape the Abyss but was left behind by the Pale King and the Hollow Knight. And, in understanding his own true nature, he finally becomes one with the Void.

This is without a doubt one of the most underrated videos I have ever seen on KZbin. The way you tell the game‘s story so beautifully, while keeping it focused and also express it through your own experience with the game made this video into something truly special. Awesome work! More people need to see this.

I whole heartedly agree!!! Where is the love for this amazing narration?! If your head cannon is different from the way she tells this story, that is secondary. I love how you tell the story of the game while other videos like those by Mossbag tell the story of before the game, if you paired this and Mossbags 1 hour lore video it would make the complete story, overall very good!

One of my good friends has played Hollow knight and really likes it. Have you played Ori and the blind forest? Would really recommend it. I think you would really like the story and how the environment fells very alive.

Considering the existence of the Abyss and moths I'd say the pale king kinda...lied about almost everything. He didn't bring intelligence, he simply conquered hollownest, ousting the radiance and turning it putrid.

He’s definitely lied about hallownest being the first and only kingdom, but the radiance is implied to have conquered the abyss tribe, as she considers them her ancient enemy, along with wiping nearly all traces of their existence. Compare that to the moth tribe who still had a living member by the game and have surviving artifacts.
