Love that saying from the Gospel of Thomas. Eckhart used to quote it often. The translation he used (paraphrased from memory) was “ The Kingdom of Heaven does not come with signs to be perceived. You cannot say, ‘There it is over here or over there,’ but truly I tell you, the Kingdom of Heaven is within you/in your midst.” I really like the translation you used too, I have never heard it before. I can get to this “I am” feeling relatively easily but I find it takes considerable effort or focus to stay there, to resist slipping back into thought stream. Eventually I fall into a transcendental state of meditation which is effortless but where there is very little alertness. I notice here sometimes there is a definite though stream that almost seems like dreaming… but because there is very little awareness here in this transcendental state I don’t feel actively engaged in this thought stream.

It occurred to me that the tree of the knowledge of good end evil can be seen as a metaphor for the mind. The ego tempts us to consume its fruit (dualistic thoughts) and our addiction to them veils us from realizing that we are already in the garden of Eden.

I have a question, if you see this: Back in August, I woke up. I lost it three days later. It was an experience of massive, almost suicidal frustration that caused me to wake up. I was SO done with seeking. Do I really have to work myself up to that level of frustration in order to wake up again? The thought of it makes me sick, lol.

Angelo, you ask the question: “Do you find any evidence of time?” It’s very hard to extricate oneself from the concept of time when you’re surrounded by objects (in your home say) that have a history or story behind them-items that once were new that have aged. These objects we’ve accumulated over many years are constant reminders that we are people moving through space and time-though in this moment there is only what’s here now. What would you say to this? Is the answer to “look more deeply” at the things in our surroundings and deconstruct what we think we know about them-something like “A Course in Miracles” asks us to do?

A wonderful Xmas message.......still many spiritual teachers talk about how the body holds trauma's which come from the past (time).....and that the sense of a personal egoic identity develops around 4 years old (past time). So they speak of the past as if it were a real thing. On the other hand, they say there is only Now ....and past and future are not real. Maybe I am getting too conceptual here (as I usually do)....but I wish teachers not speak so much about past traumas....and more about the I Am as in this message....
