As someone who liked the show, I think all the criticisms are still valid. They wanted to make a show for everyone completely removed from Sonic, but knew nobody would watch it without the presence of Sonic characters. I enjoy in the way that its the television equivalent of a shitpost

Tbh I thought the Knuckles show was awful. Hard to watch and completely loses focus 3 episodes in and never recovers. I didn't go off on it or anything, I watched it, thought it was absolutely terrible and then moved on with my life.

I think at that point it's worth considering your own words! If someone is to constantly shit on a show with their only method of solution being to describe an entirely different show than what was promised, then I would describe that as being upset they didn't get what they wanted! I also remember saying in this Podcast that if someone were to not enjoy the Knuckles show for the writing/pacing/whatever then that's completely valid, I don't think I ever acted like ALL criticism was to be met with that response. I think I remember you calling the people who liked the Knuckles show "idiots" plenty of times, yet when confronted it was passed off as nothing but hyperbole and that it should be expected on the internet, I don't understand why you're given that privilege but I'm not. If someone, like you did, called me an idiot for not liking the Knuckles Show then I wouldn't care that much, I don't get why "baby" is deemed as such a harsh insult lol

this doesn't make any sense. mark and veronica are here talking about the show and other kids series on its quality for what it is. even talking about how appealing it is for kids or not and if it succeeds as a kids show or kids movie. i've not known them to review kids media based on their own needs and wants. or at least when they do, they say what they would have liked to see and "well it's not to my taste but here's what i do appreciate" and still give props to what the show did well instead

I think you guys are being too harsh here. While it is true that going into the show with high expectations was setting yourself up for disappointment, it is perfectly valid to be upset the show had no references to the game’s lore or focused more on Knuckles. I just don’t understand why this has to be a zero-sum game with you guys, where the movie franchise is fine as long as it makes money and just kids like it. Why can’t we please everyone? The MCU (back in its glory days) did this spectacularly. You think general audiences knew who Thor or Captain America were? These characters became household names when the MCU movies made them appealing to the masses. So, older comic book fans were happy to see their favourite characters depicted accurately on the big screen, while newer, younger fans learned to love them and expose themselves to the world of comics. Everyone wins. But, the Sonic movies as they are only seem to appeal families leaving very little for veteran fans who want to see some of the better aspects of this franchise adapted faithfully. You guys even sounded excited at the prospect of a Shadow show set in the Space Colony Ark with Maria. Doesn’t that sound cool? So why can’t we do better? But, oh well. I guess it doesn’t matter cuz these movies make lots of money. Those pesky sonic fans online are just being entitled…. For the record, I’m not one of those people who went in the Knuckles show with a checklist of things I wanted to see. I went in with an open mind and simply didn’t like what I saw. It’s whatever to me. I’m glad we’re gonna get more movies and that they’ve been successful, but I do have a lot of empathy for everyone who’s been disappointed with the writing and the human stuff in this franchise so far. Dismissing everyone as entitled is just too harsh. We can have films and shows that pleases both sides.

Tbh I think blaming sonic fans for putting their expectations too high as the reason the show isn’t really liked online isn’t a good reason. I watched this show multiple times with friends who don’t really care that much about Sonic as an entire franchise and had absolutely no expectations for this show and they thought it was just bad. The show is just bad full stop, we all agreed the show didn’t know if it wanted to be an action romp or a family comedy and both sides didn’t mix well together. The side characters were boring at best and painfully unfunny and unlikeable at worst. Sure it had some funny moments and really good action scenes in some episodes but it was usually either boring or painfully unfunny for the most part. Also I think people being upset that show called Knuckles not having much of him is a completely valid complaint.

That much is true, but my concern with most people's expectations for the movie franchise is that they see so many characters and plot inclusions that I'd personally rather just wait for another animated sonic show/movie to be made. If they decided to make live action sonic movie, then I say just let them do what they can because I'm not expecting 20 cgi sonic charcters to be in one movie

I 100% agree with the comparison to the first movie because unlike sonic 2, the first movie and knuckles actaully take the time to let the characters have a character arc that is given time to breathe through the slower human scenes rather than just going from set peice to set peice with a thinly planted arc of sonic needing to learn to be a "hero" (even tho he was perfectly conpetent at that by the end of the first movie)

I wasn't expecting the show to be the most ambitious and most lore heavy thing ever because I mean... it's the sonic movie franchise. More than anything I was expecting the show to be pretty unbearable to watch since I wasnt a fan of sonic movies 2's writting and humor. And while that was sorta true, I was in disbelief and how much I kinda enjoyed it for its weird charm and Wade's and Knuckles friendship. It reminded alot about what I liked from the first sonic movie with its simplicity. I can understand the hate this show is getting but I just think people should hold off on some of their expectations on this live action hybrid franchise. Either way, I'm really not that impressed with how the movie franchise is going. Hope the third movie will surpise me though

I think you guys are being a bit dismissive of actual criticisms some people have. My problem with this series wasn’t that it wasn't faithful enough to the games, my problem was that Knuckles clearly wasn't the main character and he barely even interacted with Wade after episode 2. I was down for a simple Knuckles and Wade buddy comedy, but that’s not what this was.

Since you brought the show up, I honestly don't like Sonic Prime, because it took the really cool concept, and they did nothing with it. It could've been a cool crossover with the different Sonic continuities, but noooooooo, we had to get a generic-ass kids show but with the Sonic brand painted over it.

Knuckles for me is like the Friday movies. Dumb brain mush that you eat and chill with. Would I have wanted more Sonic shit as a fan? Absolutely, but I've come to terms with the fact that these will never be the Sonic movies I would want, and I'm okay with that. It's a goofy side dish for a goofy movie franchise for families first and foremost (Also anyone who wanted to see the Chaotix are fake fans of the game and should be legally obligated to 100% it)

Its because of how most podcasts are made in bulk and released over a period of time so they can have a lot of content. Like the normal mark videos can come out more concurrently because its just him making the video but in this you need Veronica.
