I bought my 40V Kobalt chainsaw this spring. I used it for the first time the other day. It is amazing It's all I will ever need. Before I bought this I bought a 40V Kobalt hedger. That cut my hedge work time in half. 🙂

I love my Kobalt Pole Chainsaw - 80-volt - 5-AH battery - 10" Bar - 6 ft / 8ft foot Pole Chainsaw. No electric cord. I've been using Oregon Bars and Chains. I have been using it for more than 3 years now. It works great on my southeast Louisiana farm clearing property that a hurricane went through and trashed all the trees throughout the woods of our 18-acre farm. I carry it all over in our woods and the battery lasts a long time. Today I'll be cutting a 6-inch limb off of a tree out front. I am also using (2) Kobalt 80 volt 18" Bar Chainsaws and using (2) 5 AH Batteries. Cuts huge logs great. The chainsaw first one wound up in a puddle and stopped working but after a couple of weeks and it had dried out, it started working again. For oil, I like to use Ryobi Bar and chain oil. We have cut 20"+_ logs and works like a charm. And NO more pulling and pulling to start a gas-powered chainsaw.

thanks, I'm wanting to get into chainsaws. Super fun cutting and trimming. Just bought the Kobalt 14"! Looking forward to trying it out.

Kobalt is such an amazing underrated hidden gem brand of tools. I've found that the quality is even better than more popular brands like dewalt, milwaukee, flex. Their new brushless 24v drill is my favorite

Good to here that. Just bought one yesterday on a whim. Seemed to be better choice from what was offered at Lowe’s at the time. Was a toss-up between Skil and Kolbalt.

Great review thanks for keeping it short. What kind of wood are you chopping up here? I've got hard black oak.

Ok I’m not a chainsaw expert. But I did buy this model and returned it. Basically the issue was the chain kept coming off. I got a replacement I haven’t used yet. I tightened the original as per the directions and it worked fine for a short while. I was cutting down old holly trees. Obviously for that you’re doing a horizontal cut. I think with that type cut even slight twisting effected the groove on the bar making it slightly larger to the point where tightening was not effective. I will not buy that type of saw again. Basically the bar itself is sort of flimsy and can’t absorb much movement. I should note that old holly bushes are a tight green wood that was fairly hard. Again, maybe I’m wrong, but try to avoid and twisting movement of the chain in the groove. I think they’re doing it to avoid extra weight. Lowes was good about exchanging it on the spot.

Same boat. I didn't return mine but I'm constantly having to tighten the chain as I'm using it. Kind of frustrating but, aside from that I really like it.

Why does no one evaluate the Kobalt 80-volt brushless 18" chainsaw with a 5-ah battery? - - I have (2) Kobalt 80-volt 18" Bar Chainsaws and use (2) 5 AH Batteries. Using it on a Southeast LA farm that was devastated by a Hurricane and has been working absolutely great even cutting huge logs and trees. For oil, I like to use Ryobi Bar and chain oil. We have cut 20"+_ logs and it works like a charm. And NO more pulling and pulling to start a gas-powered chainsaw. My first 80-volt 18" Bar Chain saw with a 5-AH Battery and charger was $400 in Jul 2021

I found my Ryobi 40Volt battery operated yard equipment after 7 years the batteries developed a memory and the time use was shorter, and now after 9 years I can't even blow snow with the leaf blower for more than 5 minutes. Ryobi rep. told me these batteries are tested to last for 10 years only.
@ItalianoDio- Жыл бұрын
All batteries have a half life.. the more you charge them and discharge them, the less they hold. 9 years for a battery is fucking great. Are you complaining? Show me a phone battery that lasts 10 years.. 🤦♂️

Why do they call it a brushless what is the meaning of brush less?

Has anyone had any issues with this or the previous model not oiling the chain enough ?

Could be the brand of oil you're using also or oil hole is partially plugged up

There are zero spare parts available. The tension screw on mine broke. Now I have to throw away a perfectly good saw because they have absolutely zero support. Worst part is invested in several batteries, so I'm stuck with this shitty product line.
