I have a Fluke T5-1000, which is the same as yours, only good to 1000 instead of 600. As an electrician, these meters are great for my everyday general use, but I find them lacking when it comes to automotive diagnostics since they only read in whole values. I'd be much more comfortable seeing 14.5 volts from the alternator than 15 volts, for example.

Well, if you get into union electrical work, they make electrician flyers in order to twist them and then cut it off even because they don’t always twist the same without doing that. You have no idea what they’ve done when you just twist the wire.

I worked as a commercial electrician. We seldom used 14 gauge wire, because our receptacle circuits were 20 Amp. That was an "Ideal Twister" wire nut, my favorite wire nut. I used my 5/16" nut driver to twist them on. When we used other wire nuts we twisted the wires together, cut off the tip, and then installed the wire nut. That also might be my method when struggling to get several wire tip ends even.

Have a 2018 GMC Terrain. I'm a manufacturing rep and I travel a good deal. I have 170K on it with probably over 70% of those being highway miles. Hell my Michelin tires that i got in 2021 have nearly 100k miles on then and they still look great. I'm hoping I can possibly get another three years out of this car. Which would probably be around 250K miles I probably get 5 oil changes a year.

Question, by having the toilet drain higher than the shower drain wouldn’t the water from the toilet seep out thru the shower if there was a clogged down stream?

An extension cord is useful in t'shooting in more ways than one. If your panel is further away from the suspect outlet (and/or you're working by yourself), you can run the cord as close to the panel as possible and plug in a radio. Turn it on and go through the breakers one at a time until it shuts off. However, ALWAYS, check with a multimeter first before you go sticking your fingers in the outlet box. When working with AC power, it really doesn't matter red or black. You'll get the same reading: 110-120 VAC for power. DC power does matter. Red is positive (hot) and black is neutral. (Because I'm a dinosaur...) Keep a sheet of paper or pad and number/label the breakers and keep it on or near the panel. Typically, odd numbers of the left and even on the right, starting at the top and working down. Sorry, I gotta switch to decaf now...

You can prevent overloading your breaker by doing 0 outlets per circuit.

PS A suggestion, if I may. Something I've used for decades: a petrol additive to keep the fuel system, valves etc clean and prevent "inferior" water-absorbing E10 petrol from corroding the inside of the tank.

I'm pretty sick of every video suggesting the GFI outlets as a solution. It's really not. For people like me, who really want it done the right way, I want to know what it would take to run a ground through the house and modernize the electric without having to spend tens of thousands to have someone come out and do it. Running electric in my house should be easy. I have an unfinished basement with a 6' high ceiling. No ladders needed. All of the electric is run along joists and then simply run straight up to where the first outlet in the string is located. I have 2 grounding posts already outside my house from a previous install. My 2nd floor is grounded with boxes outside the walls. The first floor and basement are NOT grounded by have GFI outlets. One of the grounding posts outside has a ground wire attached. The 2nd one does not. My second floor has normal grounded outlets. My first floor has some 2 prong outlets and and others are GFI. Some have 3 prong outlets but I don't get a ground reading when I test them. Naughty. My old house is a cluster of DIY projects with people who didn't care if they did stuff correctly or to code. And I'm not paying anyone to come in my house and start quoting $10,000 do do work when material costs are only 10 to 20 percent of that quote.

Troy, according to code you can't just run a separate ground wire. It's supposed to be part of the "same cable assembly". Would it work if you did it that way? Probably. It seems like it would be easy to run new wires to the receptacle locations, but in reality, it's not. It's actually a big PITA. (I know, I'm a licensed electrician.) Which brings me to your next point... A licensed master electrician, who's running a legit business has fees and costs (overhead) associated with running it. Accountants, license fees, inspection fees, business insurance, vehicle insurance, taxes, employee wages and state mandated benefits, training, vehicles and upkeep, gas, tools and upkeep, rent, and more. I wish I could charge $75/hr and keep all of it (I'm the only employee now). Just wanted to let people know that not every electrician out there is ripping people off.

The only time I pre twist is if I am connecting 3 wires that are too short at once just to make sure all 3 stay in place as if there is not a lot of room to hold them. Other than that in my 20 years of doing electrical work I've never pre waisted a simple connection.
