My first D&D character was a Kobold who was the sole member of his clan to survive resisting the arrival of Red Dragon that forced the Kobolds to turn on each other and the Elf neighbors they were friends with. My character was forced to flee. Roughly 5 years later in-universe, my Kobold returned as part of level 20 party, killed the evil Red Dragon and his mate. In fact, the final blow was delievered by my Kobold and his wolf companion (he was a beast master ranger). The campaign ended with him liberating the Kobolds and reteaching them the old Lawful Good ways of their clan, as well as founding a school for Rangers. In other words, mercy came...partially from their own kind.

This makes me think of an old character, a halfling rogue, high charisma face rogue, who ended up organizing a kobold revolution. Mediated peace between a newly developing kobold village with a neighboring human village. I guess that was my take on chaotic good. It was often more about freedom and personal liberty for self and others. In a fantasy landscape that couldn't imagine Kobolds being anything but small, fearful thralls of a dragon, this big hearted bastard saw a big collective of many small hard workers, and guided them toward channeling that work ethic toward changing their lot in life. Fond memories. Been too long since I've had time or energy to enjoy DnD, I miss it.

@NoahLodell-nk8nj I do too. Unfortunately that campaign fell apart so I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to finish his story. He's also a vindictive little shit. He once broke a teenager's leg because that teenager was bullying a small child. He did it while he was disguised as a small child. Made the kid believe that he was an evil spirit and he'd never know when the kids he bullies might be monsters in disguise. Also that he'd be watching. The last thing of note he did was climb into Strahd's Castle, broke into his vault, stole all of his shit, and one shot him with the sunblade. He had a Little help from A divination wizard / grave cleric to accomplish that. 19 on the portent die, combined with double damage from cleric grave feature, combined with crit on 19 from hexblade curse, combined with a sunlit booming blade Eldritch Divine smite at 3rd tier, with a few sneak attack die. Hit that poor f****** vampire for about 300 damage in one blow, at level 8. Then he freed the people of barovia and wandered off into the mists, hoping to return home, but where he'll end up I'm not really sure. He could land anywhere...

Reminds me of the time a JRPG traumatized me. In the game, you have these magic orbs that are necessary to unlock advanced character classes. On one level, you encounter a goblin, who doesn't attack. He's busy sobbing, because he finally found it - the Ninja Orb. Except, he can't use it, because he's a goblin. So he'll never be able to fulfill his dream of becoming a ninja. I quit that game, because suddenly the goblins we were killing by the dozens became people, with their own hopes and dreams. That said, I'm gonna go write a story about a dragon who decided that the kobolds are his treasure, and carefully guards, guides, and protects them.

my first Kobold character is a college of cuisine bard. He takes pride in his culinary work, and is wishing to get reunited with his clan that he got separated from during a snowstorm. He knows where they were headed, but he's afraid to make that journey alone. The clan had decided to migrate after the death of the Silver Dragon that had adopted them. They had built his lair into a mausoleum for him, and left for a new home. I'll leave it up to the DM on what killed the Silver Dragon, what is the fate of his tribe at their destination, and ultimately take him down a path that will react to those. I think the backstory has enough angles to hook into the DM's plotline pretty good no matter what it is.

This song gave me the idea of a custom campaign, based on saving poor kobolds from their evil masters, as well as other npcs. As the campaign would go on, the party would basically make a city grow in size, full of all the npcs and kobolds you saved, allowing you to get better gear and spell materials as time goes on. There would be rewards for helping building or participating in the city’s life too. For example, actively helping to build the forge will get you better gear (such as enhanced weapons, that deal damage with advantage). You could perhaps even take one and make it a proper sidekick, as it would level up alongside the party and become the town’s guardian as the party leaves after beating the final boss. Of course, said final boss would be against an Aspect of Tiamat or a particularly angry dragon.

I've made a couple kobold characters now, my favorite one i played was this little guy who wanted to get the attention of his dragon overlord so he went and joined an adventuring party to get gold to offer for the hoard. Oh, I thought about that scenario too! Not against all dragons - but against quite a few (mostly completely bad chromatic ones). Up to the creation of long-range dragon-slaying special forces units with literally anti-tank guns with a crew of a tier kobold per gun... imagine an EXTREMELY mobile, completely invisible ambush group of small greblins with an equally mobile weapon that can give the dragon some very funny moments from a huge distance. And there are many of them. Very many. And they are very vindictive. Quite useless against armies, but large single targets can reduce them to nothing.

Okay, just hear me out plz. I don't know where you suddenly appeared from, but that was absolutely beautiful... and absolutely mind-blowing. (and I will definitely listen to all the songs on this channel :D ) First of all - it's a simply stunning direction of covering the life situation of kobolds for the last 26,000 years or so. Not all of them, of course, but a sadly large number - who were rarely remembered in such a way, much less made into songs. Ave to such bards. Secondly - that line... -"If mercy came, they'd stand up tall, But mercy rare for ones so small."- A month ago - when the muse simply bit me hard - I spontaneously wrote the skeleton of the story in an hour, which I'm now finishing. And there the main character kobold-priest is in LITERALLY this state - she was very lucky that a merciful force paid attention to her (literally the Order of Mercy of the goddess Tamara, what could be more literal gawd), because of which she reached rather atypical heights for a kobold... and about which after years of a quiet life she began to think (after some explosive events). As well as about what can be done with this further... not without some hidden prodding thoughts from someone. So the line really hit my heartstrings, thank you. P.S. - I would be VERY interested to know what software was used to create this song and whether the lyrics were generated. I had several ideas for developing some bardic pieces in this direction in a couple of other languages, but this masterpiece turned ideas into confidence and I would like to try. ... and yes, is it possible to use this song with a reference to it somewhere?

Fun song, I feel it doesn't fit the common kobold, but maybe a specific clan or one that you might typically find in Abeir. This is actually scarily similar to my first kobold character. He was continued on from my Tabaxi that retired from all the trauma. He grew up in the Sunless Citadel (the place we just explored) And was known as the "chosen" one in his tribe of kobolds. For he had a birthmark in the shape of a dragon. And he had a jealous twin brother. It was fated that he was supposed to go out and find a dragon and convince it to coe back and protect their clan. Except he didn't want to believe in that. He didn't want to spend his years findibg a dragon just to worship. Why would he? So in the dungeon he found old books, that spoke of magic, and machines, and contraptions similar to magic. And ended up studying to become an artificer...... then one day he finally left. Sadly we never really got to see his story play out cause the campaign ended but i miss you Valroh

This fits hauntingly well with the Kobold Artificer I'm currently playing as. Before he left his pack, Irto was working as a tinkerer. The council of priests claimed they found a Dragon Egg, which would hatch and grow into a dragon for them to worship. So the council forced all work to be expedited, which lead to dangerous work conditions, and even accidents that either maimed or killed many of the workers. After almost a year of this state, Irto snuck into the chamber where the egg was so the could see the egg and possible baby dragon. What he found instead was a broken and rotten egg. Irto ran out of the chamber and began yelling about how the council was lying and all their work was for nothing, which led to instantaneous rebellion. Fighting broke out everywhere in the cave, and Irto began to ran for his life. Many explosions were being triggered from the now rickety working equipment, as well as crafted explosives. When Irto finally made it out, the entire cavern collapsed behind him, and he couldn't hear anything. Now he lives with the guilt of what happened to his pack. Mercy came, but at what cost?

is this on Spotify i need this i love kobolds as other mentioned its not exactly easy to find actual serious songs on a lot of things and checking out some other songs you do it so well. its just much more entertaining to actually have a song that doesn't make a entire joke of these races and more.

Kobolds are better miners than Dwarves and they have pack tactics.

That made me cry, I think I got too deep in character ToT

It's a nice song, well sung, emotive. But it's in reference to the kobolds of DnD right? Not sure how well it fits their perspective on their lives. They're generally portrayed as being pretty upbeat and easily contented

True, but it's also all most of them know. I'm sure some have the intelligence to think beyond their everyday lives, to realize it's actually not a good life. This also could be the way the DM set up this world so the Kobolds actually are well aware of their horrible enslaved lives. It's honestly a refreshing take on the cool critters.

It's crazy just throw little this embodies kobolds; they're proud dragonkin, amazing crafters, arguably second only to dwarves in forging, and rich beyond all goddamn belief. Never feel bad for kobolds, they live better than you. Oh, and they very much go aboveground.

So good, but so sad. 😢 Makes me want to raise a Kobold den into the light. 😇

This is 100% AI-generated. I recognize the specific autotune that AI songs always use, the mispronunciation of words like "live," and even the way it's written, which is so obviously AI. I'm sorry if I'm being mean, but if KZbinrs aren't gonna put in the work they should make it clear and put it in titles.

Reminds me of one of my characters she is a kobold druid (yes a weird combo but it's d&d we can be anything we want) she would definitely sing a song like this because she is sad her people are always seen as evil vermin and nothing more.

I'm literally finishing a story I started two months ago, with a kobold priest of an extremely interesting dragon goddess of mercy... and yes, if she knew how to hold a guitar the right way, she would definitely sing it.

why do i suddenly have a urge to make a kobold bard?

I have this song on loop with some songs from arcane while I write on stuff. This song fits the tone so perfectly it feels nearly written for it. I'm curious, do you do comission work somewhere ? In any case, keep up the awesome work 👍

I feel like you get the odd "super kobold" sometimes. A sorcerer, a larger than avg barbarian, etc. A kobold like that could turn a clan into a force.
