Watch part 1 here: • The Korean War - Part ...
How did the Americans defeat North Korea? It is not the way you thought.
There is so much that has been forgotten about this war. The way the US burnt North Korea to the ground influenced the rise of the North Korea that we know today. I also go into the claims that the US may have used biological weapons, such as the bubonic plague, cholera, anthrax and typhoid against North Korea.
Please take a moment to hear about something that you may not have heard before.

This video is very biased. It's a lot less biased than part one but if you think this is neutral you've fallen for the propaganda. The truth is we're all biased, and some of us can strive to find a middle ground. This video did not try very hard.
@Lynximus
@Lynximus Ай бұрын
@@mr.iiconic it lacks the pro western bias that we are used to. What you would consider neutral may actually be very heavily biased. And as we've both already stated, bias is inevitable. You must also realise that a middle ground just isn't always possible or the reality of a situation. On this video here I would say its bias is against South Korea, HOWEVER that isn't inherently a bad thing and the information he provided checks out. It's also better than A LOT of animated history channels which don't show any sources such as simple history and oversimplified. Both of whom have a MASSIVE pro western bias as well as a sketchy/misleading information.

More things I didn't know about prior to watching - The US scorched practically every part of North Korea - The US bought intel on the inhumane experiments from 731 - There were allegations of biological warfare - Japan still had major influences in South Korea Dear goodness, this conflict is so much more devastating than I recall... I seriously feel bad for the Koreans on both sides... I do hope that reunification would eventually happen, regardless of how unlikely that is, considering the many issues plaguing the two countries...

I once heard that the Korean War was a "forgotten war". I disagreed with it at the time, since if you asked somebody on the street, they probably know what the Korean war was. I now know why it's called that. The amount of harrowing information in these two videos is both surprising and terrifying, and the fact that a lot of this is not talked about more is even worse

MacArthur wasn't particularly racist towards Asian people. In fact, he had a very good understanding of their culture, which was one of the reasons his administration in Japan was so successful. Now, his attitude towards black people is another story. He was a big pusher towards keeping the army segregated. But as far as Asians went, he was surprisingly tolerant (at least by the standards of the time). So I'd say his losses in Korea were far more attributable to his arrogance that his "racism" or something. MacArthur wasnt arrogant because he was racist, he was arrogant because he believed himself to be a military genius who was nearly incapable of failure (he was certainty a brilliant strategist, but his arrogance was often his biggest handicap)

@@Blizzardisclose i personally never criticize someone for simply being biased, but I do if they're blatantly biased with no clear effort to try to to eliminate their bias and come to as neutral as they can within their power. Plenty of people on this platform do this to the best of their attempt. This channel doesn't even try. The best way is to simply include all of the TRUE information you have. There's a temptation to research more into the stuff that supports your beliefs, but you have a duty as an educational channel to fight this temptation. This channel features only the positives of the North and negatives of the south, and none of the opposites. It's not that they don't exist, he simply didn't include them. It's admirable to give NK more a fair review since it usually gets a bad rap, but to wash it away of its sins and hyperfixate on how awful the south was is blatant bias and it's disrespectful not only to the history and those who participated, but to an audience who came to be educated and not indoctrinated. TL;Dr, don't criticise the bias. Criticize the unwillingness or lack of effort to try to curb it, as this is a duty of any good history source. Cheers.

wrong. so many people say this but that would mean there would never be a bad thing written about america. if only the victors right the history books how do we know all this bad stuff that happened. the correct saying is historians write history

A good video but I think it lacks a neutral aspect. Bruce Cumings is often criticised for being quiet biased against the South and ignoring or not understanding sources. While the South did many atrocities his works and this video imo lacks the neutrality to also examine the Norths actions during the war. But like I said until the war I support the notion the North was the better option for people. I think a unified Korea under the North would today look similar to Vietnam or China with a kind of Capitalist Economy and lingering Socialist elements. Instead of the insane dictatorship it is today.

"Cummings is biased against the south" - yeah, I'd be biased too if a country committed a genocide. The only criticisms of Cummings I've found have misunderstood his works, literally denied US war crimes in the Korean war, or repeated State Department talking points about modern North Korea. There is no 'both-sidesing' a genocide.

@@ducki Do you know how Juche came about? Or are you just going to continue consuming State Department talking points of 'North Korea bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! They don't let people have haircuts!!!!!!!!!' North Korea is like how it is due to 75 years of Southern aggression and crippling US sanctions designed to impoverish the state.

All history is just that. His story. Each person experiences it from a different perspective. You can never know what really happened unless you were there and even then, it os only from your own point of view. All we can do is observe each recollection of witness accounts and go forward.

Really love the video and the nuanced depictions of both sides! Deeply appreciate the genuine care and consideration put into these. Do you have a list of your sources or anything like that?

My sources were all the ones that appeared in the video! The biggest ones were "The Korean War A history",by Bruce Cummings, "Killing Hope",by William Blum,and "this monstruos war" by William Burchett

The allies were depicted with great nuance and details. The NK side was not. The video spent something of a combined 6 minutes repeating the same war crime from many different perspectives and proving that the U.S. did biological warfare. The U.S. definitely DID do it lmfao they were nasty but notice how there is no equivalent to this for the other side? The North Korean massacre of P.O.W.'s is like 20 seconds and done.
