oh... that's awesome but a little sad, too. even if that's really enlightened, all those choices and that past self led to where/who he is now. but hey that's growth. i'm trying to decide if i think that's a privilege, too that it's easy to focus on yourself/enlightenment when you're rich and famous but there are plenty of rich and famous folks who have it all but focus on the emptiness they still feel instead of seeing it as a lesson about what's most important
@T7Karou4 жыл бұрын
@@razb8888 well, that's just one interpretation. To hear it from the artist's mouth, you can go to his interview and behind the scene in bangtantv or search for his latest live (i'd also recomend to read the lyrics of The Last). Regarding finding/accepting yourself, i think that's always difficult and it doesn't get easy if you're in certain circunstances nor if you're a certain age, since it has to do with your unconscious as well (and to have a good relationship with it, it takes a life time and/or proffesional help). Though i do agree with the part about past choices, the artist also talks about it (if it's ok to forget it all or not) in Burn It and in a group song called Love Yourself. Just commenting since i'm between classes rn lol. Have a good day!

To make this short, basically this mv is based on the movie Masquerade about a fake king. Someone pointed out how slave Yoongi's scar looks healed while the king's looks freshly cut, like he cut himself to disguise himself as the real king. In the beginning Yoongi nods to the butcher who is actually the beheader, showing that he has a man on the inside who will help him. The king makes everyone bow to him and even steps on them, while at the end the people bowing head bang, showing their solidarity with the real king. As for how this could related to irl yoongi, he talked about how the other name for blonde Agust D is "Anger". He says he doesnt actually know whether he is dead or not, though. It can show the humbler him trying to kill the monster in him that wants fame and wealth (like he talked about in The Last)

I also thought of your initial theory as the interpretation. The commercial persona being beaten by his real persona. Kind of bringing himself back down to Earth, although the lyrics state the complete opposite. Or his present self beating his past self, being more content with not being at the top, so to speak. But your second theory is interesting. Didn't really pay attention to the modern vs. traditional aspects of the MV. Although I did question why the king was wearing sneakers....

Another channel analyzed this MV! (The channel is DKDKTV) Suga makes various references to Gwanghae-gun or Prince Gwanghae (In the line "Gwanghae flow") who was the 15th king of the Joseon dynasty, to rice chests, and many other historical facts that are really interesting and add a lot of significance to the lyrics. Basically, the king represents the Suga of the industry and the industry itself, one who has achieved everything and is the King over everybody else, the Suga of the past, and the other Suga represents him now, humbled after having achieved so much and fighting off his demons, and he wants to come back down to earth and ground himself again. He kills his past self because he wants to get rid of that and get rid of the industry, he wants to keep true to himself and not lose himself like the King did (as we see him beheading everyone that he doesn't like in the MV). The old August D just beheads all that have concerns and that go against him because he is too scared and paranoid to properly confront the problems. The lyrics often switch perspectives from King Suga to Humble Suga, that's why they may seem contradictive, but this song overall is genius and the message Suga sends is very important.

I see the whole mv as depicting the tension between the suga who fought rise up and conquer those at the top who looked down upon him vs. the suga who realizes he himself is now at the top. At the end we see suga aligning himself with the former suga when he outsmarts and kills the king. Thus stopping him from inflicting his reign of terror on anyone else. I also think it’s interesting that he kills king suga while standing below him. He’s defeated the most powerful person while remaining (visually) more grounded. Which to me seems like what yoongi is striving for in real life.

Yoongi, as others have commented, said that the intention of this video was to show him "killing" his past, which was full of anger. Love this! My take: the King is Agust D who took the crown with his debut album, the lower class Agust D is him now. His first album talked about feeling alone and not having people support him, there was a lot of anger in it. The King is a tyrant and treats his court badly, takes the heads of anyone who opposes him. The peasant has a crew and is friendly with the people. I think it represents his realization that he doesn’t have to be a tyrant to be the king. The new takes out the old.

It's 2020 Agust D 👦🏻 & 2016 Agust D👦🏼. His mindset has changed, he said he had a lot of anger inside when he released Agust D in 2016, but now he's calmer. However, he's still the king who dethroned the previous king (himself) The 2 guys fighting in the back are in fact Jin and JK 🤣

Pretty sure there is this hidden meaning of "getting over your past". Suga was blonde when he released Agust D and when he talked about his dark days (The Last), that is his past self. Here we see a historical king represented by himself. Agust D (now, black hair), goes back in time to kill his past (negative) self. But he is still bearing the scars of his past until this day (scar on his eye).
@vivibangtan06134 жыл бұрын
There are many interesting interpretations to the video. I think this video is surrounding around the line where he says he climbed the highest possible and he has everything he wanted so now he needs to put his feet to the ground. So the common man is killing the ‘mad king’ representing how Yoongi prevents himself from turning into a ‘mad’ celebrity who forget his values and where he came from. I still don’t know why he chose to combine two different eras but it makes the video interesting

After watching several reactions and the MV itself few times, I got a feeling Agust D is spit fire for those rappers/whomever diss BTS, incl. in SMTM. The lyrics sent the message that “hey look I’m above y’all.. i.e. now BTS got Grammys nominee. I’ve talent & genius, not pill-popper like you.” Proven by Big Hit revenue going up up up up, even BTS help the country economic growth for past years.

the orbital shot... rrrrrh so good. yeah i have nothing more to say edit : i do have something more actually. YES THE CINEMATOGRAPHY OF THE NIGHT TIME. Obviously it's a known fact that yellow,orangish hues/blue hues work well together as they create a complementary colourscheme but I think that it's particulary well handled here. Because it's also really easy to have those type of colours looking cheap if poorly done. It also highlight the actual 'duality/conflict' taking place in the storytelling. awesome work
