I feel like we should give more credit to the real sixth "member" of ITZY, the incredible camera (and editing) team that adds such a distinctive visual feel to their title track videos. The camera work in all their videos is aggressive, but superbly planned and tied immutably to the group's choreography. Having seen them live, I know these girls are amazing on an empty stage too, but the production team are true unsung heroes of every ITZY comeback.

True! I'm glad that ITZY had the end-credits scene because it gave tribute to them, even if it was really short. I wish that'd be the standard for all groups, but alas. This year, I've only seen it in Seventeen's Left & Right, but hopefully it becomes the industry standard to give credit to the creators and creative teams behind their idols' comebacks and videos.

I loved this reaction. I want to bring people attention to the fact that the choreographer Kiel Tutin, said this was the first time a major group used his whole choreography. As a former professional dancer I have been noticing this trend that companies do a stitch job on 3-4 choreographer pieces that look cool but not complete in a sense. With this choreo I can clearly see Kiels style and vision for the song. All those little bits of accent in the first chorus and second shine through. I would love for companies to stick to 1 choreographer (2 max) because is a form of respect to their vision as well. I'm a major BP fan but for HYLT I think the choreo didnt feel complete as it was Kiel+Kyle+Sienna (plus the whole controversy with the follow the leader part at the end and people saying it was similar to ON when in fact it was Sienna 'trademark'). With 1 choreographer you can see their vision, trademark and overall it tells a story instead of a cool collage. Colabs in the other hand I'm in favour because this is when they choreograph together instead of multiple individual submissions. Overall this really solidify ITZY as a group for me to stan.

I think the "It'z" trilogy talks about how they are different, confident and unique (lyric-wise) with the same music structure (having the dance break). And now they are taking a new style starting with Not Shy since it has a different structure compared to the other title tracks plus it sounds like a confession song(?) to me since the lyrics talks about not being shy to say they like the person they are singing about. But even though they are trying new things with this comeback, they are still intact with their image: being confident that's why i love itzy.

A lot of people don't understand the lyrics of this song, and it makes me really sad, so I just wanted to post this here. If you think this song is about love then you're missing the point and here's why: In Korean female-male dating culture it's commonly expected that females have a more passive role in the stablishment of a relationship. Flirting, confessing their feelings to someone and asking them out is widely seen as a male role. So, in a way, females are supposed to passively wait til some guy decided to flirt with them and be asked to engage in a romantic relationship. According to an Korean friend of mine, this is something that has been changing a lot with the newer generations, but these biased gender roles still persist and are still regarded as the "convetional" behaviour. So, in Not Shy, although the girls are singing about being in love with someone, the song is more than just that. They're saying that they're confident and bad-ass enough that they can just go up to the guy and tell the guy how they feel and ask him out themselves. It's a song about self-confidence, independence and, dare I say, it's somewhat of an emancipation cry. Therefore, please give Not Shy all the love it deserves and know that it's not just another generic love song. Sorry about the wall of text. I can see this is why I don't relate with the song so much. I mean I see newer generation (not in high school or campus one, generally) people don't actually ask someone out, but chatting is the implicit talking whether someone's interested in you or not. I'm a guy, I'm not shy, I just feel insecure about some things. I related with the independence theme in the three title track so much they were saving me from my dark times. And when it's in their peak in independence theme, they seem to don't use it heavily like before anymore, even in Mafia in the morning. That's why I'm disappointed because I want to love their song so much..

They didn't just switch up the genre though! This is a new era. The first three "albums" always had an "It'z" in the title. Now it doesn't. It might be a new trilogy or more comebacks who knows. I have to say, as a person that's not an actual Itzy fan, I'm just a casual listener. I recently started to pay more attention to Lia as a singer. On the tittle tracks I didn't really care much about her bc Yuna, Ryunjin and Yeji always take the whole spotlight so I did not care about her, but I also listened to their B sides without knowing who was singing but like, I watched some line distribution videos and OMG Lia was the one singing most of the amazing parts of the songs. Like "That's a no no" her voice is so fucking cool, I didn't know she had a voice like that. I'm really happy now when I see other people appreciate her voice so I hope she becomes a singer that also shines in the kpop industry

This is actually my favorite title track from Itzy, usually it takes a while for their songs to "sit" with me but this one I found instantly appealing. I've also really enjoyed their harder more "hip hop" tones like Cherry and 24 hours. YES Ryujin's vocals on this track are just insane and I want MORE. Also have to say that I feel like one of Itzy's biggest draws is really eye catching choreo and the song really fits the performance. The camera work is so tight and sharp moving.

I definitely liked Not Shy after a the first listen way more than I liked ICY and Wannabe! It definitely has a different sound/style than their previous ones, but it is still very ITZY, if that makes sense. itzy is such an incredible group. i’ve been kind of out of the loop with kpop for a while now and haven’t been stanning many new groups, but i’ve been stanning itzy since their debut and they’re just so talented. they’re already so so talented and i can’t imagine how much better they’re going to get over the years.

The "ITZZZZYYYY" hype part reminded me of their labelmates (my ult group) Stray Kids. I know many kpop groups do it like BP and other boy groups but everytime I hear the "Stray Kids Woooh!" always hypes me up.

I honestly still think the song is 8/10 because there wasn't a dance break but instead a bridge, which I'm not disappointed at. But I was just expecting it, the bridge does make it up though! It's just that good

That horn in the chorus is definitely a saxophone, it's not the only time they used it in the song so it fits better than using another instrument

Something that i REALLY love about this group is their honesty. I saw a lot of people thinking itzy and their concept of self love isnt genuine, saw people think theyre only doing this bc it’s a concept that will sell really well. and that theres no way these young girls think theyre different and have all this self confidence. In their recent video “letters to midzy,” chaeryeong literally talks about how she knows a lot of people cant relate to their songs. She herself isnt that confident and reassured of herself. But she wants to give off this energy to others so they DO feel different, icy, that they should only be themselves. I just found that honesty so REAL especially in the kpop world when artists show the best sides of themselves. Obviously theres a whole company behind them, but im really proud of these YOUNG girls sending out these kinds of messages. I wasnt expecting to like them so much but here i am!!!!
