10:12 The brick morphs into a star, then into and apple, and finally into an awl (tool for piercing holes) . The awl is mentioned briefly in one of their promo videos. The theme of pointed edges and things that stick out is repeated over and over in this video. Their tongues sticking out, the nails sticking out of the floor, a hand sticking out of the wall, sticking up their thumbs in the choreo. Weirdos sticking out in a crowd. This concept is so fun and there are references made throughout this MV as well as their b-side tracks. Stars, black sheep, and perseverance despite criticism are common themes in this new album. As a side note: Run For Roses is my favorite from them but I love this TT and it’s definitely a grower. It gets better with each listen

In the Korean dictionary, looks like 별별 is like a variety of different things, which I think is how they're using it? Like, "wow you see all sorts of folks these days (derogatory)" and they're saying, "yeah that's me!" and flipping the meaning to the positive "star star" instead

I love the black sheep imagery especially because it’s a direct contrast and defiance of the social norm. I feel like it reaches deeper than just the cliché of “I am special and important”- in a society where everyone is expected to conform to the heard like sheep and do the same things, look in the same direction, have the same goals, same looks/style, or just controlled expression generally. Like this, only the select few are the shepherd and hold power over everyone. Being the black sheep is an acknowledgement that you actually have the power to own your life-it’s yours. You can be your own color. “See that?” as a title is even almost instigating a challenge against the control of the expected. It’s like, ‘I’m not conforming in a loud way, do you see that? Does it bother you? You can’t change me.’ It’s quite rebellious honestly. I love how it extended to the whole society. They sing there are so many ‘weirdos’ sarcastically against the norm. They’re pointing out that anyone who strays is described in a negative connotation, only to re-describe standing out in a positive connotation as shining like a star against the sky. Even all the lyrics are not speaking in terms of “I” but “we”. My favorite line is probably Haewon’s part 10:31 *“the morning sun rises and we hide”* The way everyone wakes up and puts on their metaphorical uniform to go outside. Not to mention the poetic literature of the Sun rising to dim the stars literally and then also in a functional sense with each person in society. There’s just something about this song that feels more genuine and directly relevant than many other kpop songs with this theme of being yourself. As for this comeback, I have to say it’s my favorite from them yet. I think the concept fits them perfectly, especially as their music literally doesn’t conform with their group “nmixx” style. A style that I would argue has lost them some opportunities compared to if they were releasing a more traditional sound, especially as a JYP group and one this talented. I also think it shows their performance abilities better than any other title track so far. I feel like they’ve always had this sort of aggression in their group performance dynamic that is very well done and this brings it out.

I’ll add that I think maybe part of why it comes across as more sincere to me is that it’s not “I don’t fit in and so I’m cool” but instead “I don’t fit it and so I’m weird.” Then saying who cares if you call them weird for being themselves, or different. It contains the bigger picture and perspective that many people who try to do this concept neglect.

To me, the very reason why it feels so genuine is that they are unapologetically themselves, enjoying their music, their style and being different. They don't feel like they are chasing celebrity or trying to go for what's trendy or even trying to forcefully break the norm and be rebellious, but rather happy to be the black sheep. This feels very different from the rest of Idol K-Pop. You can also feel it during their encore, they are creative and still their cute self~ Their concept is actually shielding them from having to bear this industry's pressure.

NMIXX is something, right? Probably the most vocal talented girl's group under JYP (with all respect to other groups, I love them all). And this title song is, for me, one of their best (among their titles). It has some magic inside, I don't know how to explain.

별별별 comes from Korean word '별의 별 (別의 別)' which means 'all kinds of something'. In the context of the lyrics, it means 'All kinds of weirdos trying to judge us as if they knew everything about us'. And yes, 별 is star.

I just noticed, in the chorus 우린 we, we, we, we, 위로 위로 더 (We go up higher and higher) it's like a play on words from Korean to English, if you read it with hangul "Wirodeo" it sounds like the pronunciation of "Weirdo"

It’s my understanding that they are using 별별 in that common phrase that is like… all kinds of people/ every Tom, Dick and Harry, but doing wordplay with star. Rather mirroring the wordplay in S-class (which I’m pretty sure is connected with this video in that weird JYPfam lore way).

별 is slang for different, unusual or as used here, 'weirdo'. Also, 위로 더 sounds like the English 'weirdo'. (I'm not Korean though)

Re: the translation, I'm no Korean expert (I'm learning, but a long way off), but if I understand correctly, "별" can also be used to mean "weird", and "별별" can mean "all kinds". Which leaves "별별 별" working as "all kinds of weirdos". Also, that line translated as "we go up higher and higher". The line is "우리 위로 더" or _"uri wiro deo"_ which also sounds like "uri weirdo", and I feel like that's probably not an accident... 4:00 I just noticed that when Haewon's in the lighter outfits, she has long hair, and in the all-black fit, she's back to short... Also, I'm not sure if you saw the trailers, but in one, she _really_ looks like she's channelling a Korean or Japanese horror movie... 4:20 I dunno if you have anything like this, but in the UK we often have little kid-shaped bollards outside primary schools to prevent anyone driving too close to the front gates. Those things have always _creeped me the hell out,_ and these little ghosts remind me of them, which makes it _so_ much worse. 😬 9:50 Also, Haewon often has this unsettling _blankness_ to her expression, and frequently when she's staring directly at the camera. 16:30 I've seen them live, at a festival in London last month, and yes. Yes she does. I'm not sure where it stands in my rankings. I've always liked NMIXX as people, but musically, I took a while to warm to them, and their last comeback swung me _hard._ Run for Roses is still my standout, but there's no denying, this is an _earworm._

The song didn't hit me hard at first. I almost thought it was too easy to sing and dance for their talent level. But the song does warm up over time. And the execution of the MV, especially for Haewon and Sullyoon's impact does hit HARRRD!

I listened to See that? on repeat the day it came out and eventually had to admit I liked it even more than Dash, if only because I think Dash is an 'easier' song, in that it's catchier and thus its novelty wears off quicker, whereas See that? is so unusual that its charm has really lingered much longer for me. But Dash is still exceptional, I've just overplayed the hell out of it lol

"별의 별(別의 別)", or "별별(別別)" in short, is a common phrase in Korean that may be translated to "different in many ways", but more in a negative and sarcastic sense. It's commonly used with the word "인간(human)", derogatory in a sense compared to "사람(person/people)", like "별의 별 인간이 다 있네." meaning "there are a bunch of 별의 별 humans", or simply "there are a bunch of weirods." "별별별", the case for NMIXX's new track, is not a common way of using this phrase -- which confused me as well -- but I am pretty sure it aimed for this context. Just to let you know!
