The hitmakers were crisp, each shot was like a thunder bolt, it felt powerful. Also the maps allowed for all playstyles, camping, sniping long range, rush routes, holding a position, etc. That is what made cod so good, it allowed for all play styles.

I was mainly throwing knives in mw2 and never quickscoped with the Intervention,but by Black Ops 1...it was tomahawks...ballistic knife and the art of drag scoping with the L96...because the sound of it was addictive.. and very few people could snipe because they had to either hardscope,drag or nothing..so all the mw2 intervention boys...a year down the line.. were still playing with themselves in rust. This was such a great game,with an addictive multiplayer menu soundtrack. RIP

Such a throwback, nostalgia just floods in, I swear using snipers in this game wasn't easy but it was satisfying and oh my gaw are the models and sights sooo damn clean, this was also one of the cods where you can't quickscope easily until the scope has been visible for at least a second because it still treats it like hipfiring until it's done, so it makes getting quickscopes pretty friggin satisfying, and honestly probably the best game to teach people how to properly quickscope, but i mean im not even for that all that much, it is just so satisfying to play every part of this game and get creative.

My favorite design element to this game was the CoD Points. Before they had monetary value. Within a few games on a fresh account, you can spend 2000 points for a gun/perk or attachment and get your Custom Class really rolling.

One of my favorite CoD memory was using this sniper. It was a TDM match on Array. I was trying to knife a window open, could knife it cause I was moving to much. So I decided to just fire my rifle and I got a random headshot. One of my greatest CoD moments 2:14 it was that window. I was inside looking out when I got that killed

L96A1 was a ton of fun to use. Black Ops 1 was the first time CoD didn't really have a good sniping nest map on release, so it was a lot more beneficial to go from alleyway to alleyway.

I think people forget how garbage sniping was at the release of the game. Quickscoping was basically as accurate as noscoping, you had to keep you scope open for like a second for it to be fairly accurate before the patch. Also the reg scope isn’t an iron sight

Difference beetween back then and now is , back in the times the snipers where insanely powerful at high range but also in shot range with quickscope , there wasn't shit like hipfire mechanic and they weren't designed on purpose for the sweaty stuff , it was just a game feature everyone used and it was a coinflip playstyle , also the design and sound effects were 10/10 , the l96 with bass was dope af

The hit detection was so bad with the snipers, I ended up using the PSG and WA2000 more than the L96 so I can get a follow up shot, despite it being one of the coolest looking sniper rifles ever.
