Oh god this is way too real.... that meeting though, you should do this method, umm do we even have this equipment... that doesn't mater you'll figure it out. way too accurate!

i love these. i wish there were some for grad students in the humanities, though. i think grad students in the humanities are in more denial about the realities of grad school than science grad students.

Dang, PIs be doing that. Dropping last minute nature and science papers on you the night before your presentation and expecting you to be experts. On a side note tho, EXCELLENT NETWORKING!!!

my endonte was crashing for a final report due at midnight one time and so i went and did like 39 references manually in a 4000 word report for polymers and nanocomposites

This PI was highly unprofessional... How come the first time she’s giving feedback to his whole proposal just two days before it’s due?.. on a similar note, If I gave my proposal to my pi two days before it’s due I would be going to that presentation with no proposal lol

+samramdebest Pretty much the professors/mentors have so much experiments in mind that they want to do, they figure out ways to make u do it, like stuffing in some techniques he/she saw on an article and claimed it is good for your paper haha

Idk about biochem but isn't that basically the most lucrative field right now? the kind of interdisciplinary applied stuff ? I think the classical "pure" noninterdisciplinary stuff

There is no way to be in lab without safety staff, no lab coat, no glasses, and no gloves. I think it should be like a real lab. Thanks

A lot of grad students (even undergrads), especially in structural biology, don't bother wearing lab coats if they aren't directly dealing with bacteria. Gloves, however, are always a must.

They wanna do meth, haha. Something similar happened to me. As soon as the guy found out I study chemistry, he suddenly got interested in me, haha. The conversation ended up like: The guy: tell me how to make meth (indirectly) Me: I don't know! The guy: insisting.... Me: |-: The guy: do you accept that they don't teach us anything at universities? Me: !!!!

Haha this series is funny. Its a great satire of grad school- grad students in biochem turn out to be street thugs. I'm glad I made the choice not to go to grad school.
