So many complex emotions in that last bit there. Such a joyful ending, "they lived happily ever after for generations"; lesser artists would have made it too saccharine, but Bluth pulls it off like no other and I get chills every time I hear that last bit of narration as they hug each other in the sunset and cut to credits.

This is possibly my most favorite music by James Horner and he will be remembered forever. Unlike my childhood, Im a teen with a soul of a child. And a quote to James Horner from a movie called The Iron Giant, "Souls Don't Die." RIP James Horner. We'll all miss u.

Only Horner and the L.S.O. could pull that off, wonder if it that was mixed or if it was played with the live with the transition at Abbey Road Studio 1. There is not much that surpasses this soundtrack, it contains everything. Horners imagination and sensitivity with the openness to used synth let him lead the way in film scores.

I gotta admit that I love James Horner's music, and he will definitely be missed, but I'll go to my death bed with the fact that John Williams is simply the best. Anywho... Rest in Peace, James.
@lnsullivan422
@lnsullivan422 7 жыл бұрын
Not at all, because John Williams composed Star Wars. Those scores, and the emotion in the characters that is conveyed by them, are proof in and of themselves that John Williams is a better composer than James Horner. It's actually more mature to think of one as better than the other, since their faults are being recognized. They're both fantastic, though.
@Alty592
@Alty592 7 жыл бұрын
I like Williams, but imo he has no range, all his works sound the same. Some would probably call it his own personal touch, but I find it to be repetitive and annoying. Everything he does more or less screams "Star Wars" to me. Completely distracts from the original work.

My heart is wanting to bring the kid back out in me so badly. And my mind isnt getting any younger...I just wish Walt Disney were still alive today. So he could see all the junk thats being made today, and bring back the movies that lived in our heart for years...and still grow with us. As we get older...those feelings, will never leave. And that, is a TRUE gift to make many movies that has had that effect on your life, your heart...and soul

You can feel the vast landscape being painted in "The Great Migration" - a beautiful beginning that I maintain should have been the main theme to the movie. It's interesting to hear how Horner took inspiration from Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet for the "...Migration" theme. If you find the complete ballet (4 Acts) and go to about 1:57:57, you'll hear what I mean. Great stuff!!

Initially, the filmmakers wanted the dialogue not to be in the film, for example, "Spring Rite" in "Fantasy", "Talking with the audience" was to be music. Therefore, James Horner carefully approached the creation of the track. Prototype was the symphonic fairy tale of Sergei Prokofiev "Peter and the Wolf" in 1936. Like Prokofiev Horner, for each character a musical leitmotif is created. The transmission of symbols is transmitted by the ratio of different musical themes. I think that fans of this soundtrack will be interested in comparing these two works. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGW9eYOffd-Yd6c
