When I was a little boy my grandmother used to take me to the mall in a neighboring town. Back in the late 80s and early 90s it had a movie theater. About once a month or so she would take me shopping, buy me a toy, and then to the movies or dinner afterwards. I remember vaguely her taking me to see this when I was 3 years old (I have an insane long term memory). Every time I hear this score or see this movie or any late 80s early 90s kids movies it takes me right back to our trips to the mall. I can remember the theater clear as day almost. My favorite bit of trivia is that if you look at the VHS cover of “Great Valley Adventure”, you can see that the artwork they used for Chomper’s dad is actually taken from the Model sheet for the first film’s Sharptooth. Also in the sixth movie the leitmotif from 6:57-7:01 plays while Littlefoot is being chased through the canyon by the Allosaurus and runs into (the ghost?) of a Sharptooth implied to be the one from the first movie.

8:05 Sharptooth has jumped on top of Littlefoot's mother, and as Littlefoot and Cera watch in horror, Sharptooth takes a real bite out of Littlefoot's mother's back. If one compares the full soundtrack to the music heard in the final scene, there's abrupt changes in the soundtrack in the scene that occur due to editing after the movie was scored.

Yep there was a 20 second cut in this movie. Also another fact is that 16 of the 20 cut seconds edit: of the music, are included in the land before time 2 and 8, and the full cut part was in the land before time 6

@@ToastTheThe Interesting! Theoretically one could use the footage from 2 and 8 to restore some of the cut footage from 1. You know, if I was one of the animators who worked on the movie, I would've secretly snuck into the studio one night, made a copy of the uncut movie, and had it kept stored away somewhere for a few decades. And when the time is right, especially at a time when countless Land Before Time fanatics are looking for the lost scenes, I will happily respond and provide them with exactly what they're looking for: the full uncut 82-minute version of the movie!
@leewhitworth91424 жыл бұрын
@@77PacerStudios I would've done that too. But apparently it was edited by a couple people alone and they clearly wanted no trace of those scenes to remain. It was cut/edited in London and sent back to Dublin to be disposed of. Didn't even think preserving them was an option.

I’m 31 it’s been years since I’ve seen TLBT. And yet, I was left un phased by the scene and always appreciated Horner’s score. I’ve seen more traumatizing heroic sacrifices in animation!

No doubt that Don Bluth was inspired by the great Wolfgang Reitherman’s animation of the fight between Tyrannosaurus Rex and Stegosaurus in the segment The Rite of the Spring in Fantasia.

Why is Ducky and Spike so close in color? Where is Littlefoot? Spike's and Chomper's tails have also both been removed. I love everything about The Land Before Time.
@simoncooper67526 жыл бұрын
Spike's and Chomper's tails are simply tucked behind them, not removed. It's an illusion. I've noticed the same effect sometimes when photographing my cats. Littlefoot probably is there and this is simply his POV.
