@@swettyspaghtti ummm bro? Video title is “the language of BASS and drums.” John played guitar. Rule of thumb for creating BASS parts is to stay out the way of the snare drum. This is not a hard and fast rule but rings true in many different genres and situations. It’s troubling yet unsurprising how much I have to elaborate on a simple innocuous comment.

I've always been fascinated with Alice In Chains, "Man In the Box" with respect to Bass and Drums, particularly the chorus. It's like the drums and bass become one animal

That song is my all time favorite rock song to practice to with my bass. The bass and drums are the anchor of the song.

Also sounds great if the bass notes are hitting the rhythm right on the grid, with the kick drum hitting some milliseconds after that bass note. Is there a term for what I’m trying to describe?

Milliseconds after the bass note would be out of time!! Yikes!! As a drummer, it's either spot on, on top of the beat or behind the beat. Of course that will depend on the style of music also. Unless it is a specific part where everyone has to play parallel or verbatim if you will, jamming on a take might not be such a good idea!! Again as a drummer I try to get the music to sound a certain way and feel a certain way. At that point, I use my ears and allow my natural instinct to take over. Now if you really want to orchestrate something, simply chart it. Always have fun and keep your chops up my brothers!!!!🙂🥁❤️

Its a thing with music production sometimes some producers will move a bass or a kick off of each other a smudge so they dont collide with other too much sound wise If a bass part and a kick sounded at the exact moment in time, there'd be phasing issues with parts of the low end Especially if both have a long tail at the end, it would cause alot of build up so its good to know when to cut
