No requests, no support me by streaming this or buying this today. I just ask for one thing: please treat others with respect in the comments. Treat them how you yourself would want to be treated no matter how they voted. We have more in common than we think 🙏🇺🇸 Spend your time (and mental energy) wisely

Hey, congrats to your mum. Yes, its not over but you reeeeeeally have to celebrate every little win right now. Ive fought incurable cancer for 29 years since i was a kid & its been my whole life, but that just makes me far more aware of what is important in life. Its also a kick to the crotch my dad has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Theres nothing more you can do with this shit than keep moving forward but trying to focus on the positives. Politics really doesnt affect people to the level they think it does.

To me her not being here change my life in ways i didn't think it would. In my country if you got cancer once it pass the first stage forget it. You probably gonna die. We lack thr system to fix it. Even Early diagnosed If you aren't rich you aren't gonna make it. Especially leukaemia or breast cancer

Best wishes to your mum, your family and to you. I agree about health being a primary concern, alongside food and shelter. Unfortunately all such things are tied to politics. Saying that all political parties and leaders are the same can be a very dangerous position to take. In terms of fundamentals it may, or may not, be true but there are still differences in policies that can make huge differences, positive or negative, to the lives of millions. The apathy of the majority to towards politics and the subsequent lack of knowledge about policies, systems etc, is a large part of the problem. If people want real change, they need to be engaged, educated and be willing to work towards that change, persuading others as to why you see it as right. Voting for every candidate that promises change is never going to achieve that. Resigned apathy is never going to achieve that. Nor is saying, 'why can't we all just get along'. On some things we need to take a stand. Whether in promoting positive change, or in opposing things that we see as fundamentally wrong. Nearly all positive change has been fought for. So much that we now take for granted, including the right to vote, is a result of struggle, organised struggle. It's also a truism that all these things are easier to lose, without vigilance, than they were to gain. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing' - Edmund Burke (attr) Just saying we should all be nice to each other, although a wonderful sentiment, has never been enough and never will be. If that's all people like Gandhi, MLK and Nelson Mandela ever did, they wouldn't have effected change and hardly anyone would have heard of them. Opposition, criticism, even negativity towards that which deserves it, are all crucial, in preserving civilisation, freedom and humanity, whether we like it or not. :)
@KnoxHill
@KnoxHill Ай бұрын
I think it’s one hell of a starting point. There’s a difference between being nice to each other and just treating others with respect. I am preaching for change and in fact I have made multiple comments and videos on the limits I see of a bi-party system and the current democratic system we have in place. This is about unity of the common people and normal citizens over those in power and the increasing wealth gap of the winners and losers. The revolution starts with us realizing that divided we are so much weaker than united. It’s time for liquid democracy or better forms that adapt to the modern era, it’s time for better representation and a better voting system, it’s time for many aspects of systematic change. But none of that can be achieved if we are constantly focused on one team or the other. You are distorting my video and my points here. This isn’t a let’s all hold hands and stay ignorant message and why can’t we just be friends and get along. I’m sorry it doesn’t conform to your expectations, but there’s much more nuance to my video and statements than that.
@Codex7777
@Codex7777 Ай бұрын
@KnoxHill I largely agree with you. Including about trying to be decent to each other and even that it's a great sentiment and a great starting point. 🙂 My post wasn't meant as a personal criticism, I was merely emphasising the point that, on it's own, it's not enough, as I feel it's an important point that is being increasingly lost. I think that a large part of the reason the Democrats fared so badly is because their main focus was about hope and being the 'good' guys, with no real substance behind it. No substantial policies, no agenda for change, no addressing of issues that are genuine concerns, right or wrong, to millions of voters. As one political satirist put it, "Votets had every reason not to vote for one guy and no reason to vote for the other 'guy'". 🙂 I also agree with you about unthinking tribalism being a problem. I see it as the other end of the spectrum from political apathy and deliberate ignorance. Both ends are incredibly harmful. I also agree that our political systems need to change at some point, as they don't have the confidence of the people and aren't delivering, except for the few. Ditto our economic systems. They're extremely damaging in many ways and aren't sustainable long term. I think a lot of people see there are major problems but there is little discussion about potential solutions and that needs to change quickly. I agree that people are stronger together but consensus is rarely necessary (or possible) in order to effect real and positive change. That's definitely been the case historically. However the argument for change DOES need to be won, in order to make progress. That can only happen if there is a desired destination and that can only happen if we begin to have a discussion about solutions, rather than merely talking about the problems. This is something I know that you agree with too. There will be many arguments and disagreements along the way but that is fine, healthy, even desirable. Ren's "rich tapestries" quote, from his "defining success" video, springs to mind. 🙂

When you talk of loss, and of cancer, I completely feel you. My sister is a cancer survivor, she got to ring the bell. It wasn't looking good for awhile, but she came through, and even got back to making music with her husband, and marathon running. But her and I are still devastated, as on Sep 17, 2023, our father passed, suddenly and unexpectedly. Sister took a redeye flight to get from California to Winnipeg, and didn't even get to see him conscious again...To say that knocked my world off it's axis would be an understatement. I've had to deal with death many times before, with the s-wording of two friends (one who was also an ex), too many friends to count I know personally that have had to battle with cancer, at all ages, cancer has no respect for age. Some of them won, some of them didn't. The tragic and accidental death of a longtime friend, who was on his way to Sturgis for the bike meet, a trip he made every year, and from the accident report from the North Dakota State Patrol, it appeared he fell asleep. Bike went off the road, no skidmarks. No drugs or alcohol or anything in his system, so likely just fatigue... Similar to what you say, politics and religion aside, I just want people to stop killing and harming other people...

UK here. There's a LOT that i could say about the political landscapes in many counties today. I lived and worked as a teacher,in a school for the Deaf, in Ghana for 3 years. But the lesson I learned is that at the end of the day? We are exactly alike. We want some money a job, maybe to have kids/ raise kids, put a roof over our heads and food on the table and hopefully leave the next generation more able than ours? You're spot on. I wish you and the rest of the family all the best in these difficult times.
