DFTM is still one of the craziest, most thought out and best executed ARGS or like, things, ever. The SpongeBob Theories were probably calculated as the single easiest way he could get videos to go viral fast, and then he went and made them really really good to secure that. And they did, he was right, so the storyline that it was a big tentacle monster giving him this sudden success was able to play out smoothly and believably. I’m not explaining this very well. The point is that a year on, the DFTM saga still lingers in my mind as one of the coolest projects I’ve ever seen on KZbin.

My theory is, the fire nation saw how often his cabbages were getting stolen/lost, so they decided to pay him even though he is a waterbender (would explain cabbage bending since cabbages are mostly water) to give them information on the avatar, this would line up with how whoever is sent by the firenation seems to mystically know where the avatar is going, the cabbage man sends back information about the avatar to the fire nation for money, this also explains the scene in Omashu where he wants the avatar dead, my assumption is that hes a simple man who wouldnt know about the incarnation cycle, and thinks killing the avatar will be the fire nations ultimate goal and he can stop giving them information and go back to his simple roots of selling cabbages.
