Loved this moment!!! Producers and writers nailed it, the best way to say goodbye to the McCoy era ❤ Hats off to Mr. Sam Waterston, the best district attorney 😊

Sam Waterston wasn't around until '94. In '91, it was Michael Moriarty playing Ben Stone.

The main reason I watched the show - District Attorney Jack McCoy. Fantastic actor!

This episode titled "Last Dance" was like a tribute to Jack McCoy, celebrating his 30+ years as a prosecutor in law enforcement and in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. McCoy goes out with a bang, getting one last conviction before his retirement. Remembering the words of a wisdom from the legendary Jack McCoy: "Good lawyers get convictions and great ones get justice."

This is how you knew that Jack McCoy was really really angry. It was when the Judge ruled against him and he would say "YOUR HONOR!!!". The Judge would respond by firmly saying something like "Sit DOWN, Mr McCoy!". Jack McCoy knew better to say a word but he would remain standing for a brief defiant moment and then he would just sit down.

“I gave a pledge to always act honestly and ethically, without bias or favor. And always with integrity.” A wonderful line from a wonderful TV show. Too bad we don’t have DA’s like this any more. At least not enough. Definitely true in the REAL NYC.

I'm a native New Yorker. I've lived in 4 out 5 boroughs, growing up, for school, and for work. NYC is hardly a perfect place, but I've lived in FL, CA, MO, and KY. Annd traveled to other states. No place beats NYC. I don't fault the cops or the prosecutors. They do a tough job very well. No one likes crime or the some of the city's skells, but real New Yorkers don't want their city anodine and antiseptic. A little grit makes New York the cosmopolitan city we cherish. If you want bland and boring, there's a entire country out there that isn't NYC.

Sam Waterston is an amazing actor, and he still knows how to command a scene. But the years have taken their toll on his voice. It is no longer the fine instrument it used to be. He's wise enough to know it's time to "exit, stage right." Well done, Mr. Waterston.
