Nice win for Endlessly in the last edition of the El Camino Real Derby! So many fond memories of this great race. So many fantastic horses who won this race Cavonnier, Event of the Year, Tabasco Cat, Jumron, Chocolate Candy, Casual Lies, El Atroz, Tank’s Prospect, Ruhlmann, Snow Chief, Yougottawanna, Metaboss and a whole slew of others. My first El Camino Real Derby was in 93’, when El Atroz beat Ranger. From that year on I went to every El Camino Real Derby until 2018. As a young handicapper, my dream was to someday own a horse and win the El Camino Real Derby. In 2015, that dream became a reality when my horse Metaboss, who I owned in partnership with my good friend from kid hood won The El Camino Real Derby and still owns the Stakes record time for the 9 Furlongs in 1:49.92. I doubt any horse has run a faster last 1/8th than Metaboss did. It was a 11 and change. The thrill of a lifetime.

I remember when Tabasco Cat and Charismatic won this race at Bay Meadows. I think the purse was 200,000. Very hard to believe that there will be no Northern California Racing.

Later this year it will be closed for good, oh and also can you visit the track on the last day and record the last races even the very last one?

I wish I could be out there, but their closing weekend will be Belmont Stakes weekend. I had planned originally to come here for closing weekend when it was in December so I could film the last race ever, but then they added the winter/spring meet so I came out here for the last El Camino Real.

Is there any reason in particular about racetracks closing? I have heard about quite a few that gave closed. Keep thinking about all these people losing their jobs and the horses finding a new place.

I think it's because of profits, stonarch group probably made more money selling the track than owning it
