Paul Whitehouse banging the drum with his elbow on mambo Jambo cracks me up I don’t know why
@Wally-H2 жыл бұрын
The great Latin percussionist Candido used to do a party-piece solo where he used his elbows and his chin to play the congas. I've little doubt that's where Paul got the idea from.

one of the few pieces on here that actually sounds quite tuneful. He does something similar in one of the earlier sketches but it far more obvious

Trivia time: The Finnish song John Thomson mentions is an actual song called "Vanhoja poikia viiksekkäitä" (=moustached old bachelors) by a prolific Finnish songwriter, Juha Vainio. The song tells a sad tale about an old man and a seal, both bachelors who have lost their loved ones and are the last of their kind. Also this skit is nice.

This character jazz man louie has to have been based not just on whispering bob harris but the guy who introduces the bands that come on in the manchester jazz festival pavilion tent who's called steve mead! Me thinks that john thomson frequented this festival more than once and it amused him no end! I just feel sorry for poor steve mead, i bet he was ripped into mercilessly during the festivals late 90's period!!!!

I love everything the fast show did. However, I have never been able to find out who actually played the stuff on Jazz Club. When this kicks into the trombone solo it is brilliant! I would like to know who played it so I could hear more!

That is a good point. I'm an acid jazz fan and I've seen quite a lot of the top musicians who knock around in London's clubs but I don't honestly recognise any of these guys. I would presume they were hired session musicians.

I would lay money on that being Mark Williams' archery club! They all look like they know what they're doing with those bows, and as a five times county champion, I think I would notice if they didn't.
