My first memory of Pujols and Molina is kinda a funny one. For Pujols it was getting a poster from Shop-n-Save for Real Cheese, it said “Cardinals LEFT Fielder Albert Pujols” I remember thinking “I hope this guy is good enough to do something.” That was 2002 😂 For Yadi it was seeing him start in 2004 as our starting catcher. I recall telling my dad, “I hope this chubby kid can be good for us. It’s hard to replace Mayheny.”

These two will be missed. It was amazing getting to watch their last season. Pujols getting to 700 home runs and Waino and Yadi getting 325 starts together. Wish we could have gotten a world series win but it was still a fun year.

Man it really hurts knowing I won't be able to watch them play anymore. When I was little (i'm 26 now) I watched Albert play around 2001-2002ish and he got me to start watching baseball from when I was little up to now, my great aunt's husband (RIP to both) got me a signed Albert hat from one of Albert's charities back when I was 16 and I still have that hat in a glass case and will never ever get rid of it, he is just that amazing of a person / player. Yadi is also amazing though I never got the chance to get anything signed by him but I have been thankful to watch him and Yadi play together many times in person and to watch Yadi in general is just a blessing.

I know that what we watched here was so much more than the subject of my comment. I just watched those 2022 Pujols home runs and when I watch Albert swing, I always think back to his playoff home run against Brad Lidge. The Cards lost that series and it hurt so bad. However, that home run is what I will always think of when watching anything about Albert Pujols. I will never understand how that blast was estimated at under 500 feet. I have never seen a ball that was hit so hard and seemed to still be gaining speed as it hit so very high off of that wall. Baseball is the best sport and the Cardinals are my favorite team. They were my first favorite team. Pujols was the best hitter ever, the memories he gave us all will never be forgotten, and that ball that he hit against Lidge was well over a 500 foot blast.

Not only because I'm a Cardinals fan, but also a true fan of baseball history....I think Yadi is the absolute greatest Catcher of all time. And maybe besides Ted Williams, Albert Pujols is the best pure hitter ever. Yadi with his fielding and clutch hitting, Pujols hitting for contact and power, both with clutch moments that led to titles.

Yadi says to his mother "Thank you for all the sacrifice that you and my dad made, along with my uncles, that I love all of them. For teaching me this beautiful sport, for making me a man of good faith, I love you old woman, may God give you many more years of life and more joy for all of us. Love you". Really dropped the fcuking ball there, Cardinals, easily could've put that in subtitles.

I really shouldn't get this fucked up watching a baseball video. These guys embody baseball to me, as a kid from Missouri. It was a beautiful swan song season for two of the all time greats. Mike Shannon and Danny Mac narrated this story for me my whole life, and made it that much more special. How lucky am I to be in this timeline.

It's so much more poignant because of how many legendary figures around Cardinals Nation we lost during their careers. Jack Buck, Stan Musial, Red Schoendienst, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Tim McCarver, Mike Shannon, the list goes on. Albert's interview with Joe Buck shows me that he never took those losses lightly either. I'll miss seeing these two on the field, but I'll always have the memories of the great moments they contributed to.

You can't blame Yadi though, he had some years behind that plate man.. I just really wish Pujols would have gave it one more year because I think he could have put up even better numbers than 2022.. Dude's a bonafide superstar for what he did In 2022. Wow. A lot of people didn't see it coming but I swear I knew he was going to do it big. Lol. If he stayed in St Louis those numbers would be absolutely absurd!! Honestly still shocked Albert left based on the relationship he had with other players we have here. It's still shocking man. It ended the exact way it should have tho. 😊

If the organization is smart, they'll put Yadi, Waino, and Pujols in red jackets at the same time and retire jersey nos. 4, 5, and 50 all at once. Anything else would compromise the relationship those three had to each other and to the last 20+ years of Cardinals baseball. By the way, 5 × 4 × 50 = 1,000, and 5 + 4 + 50 = 59, for the 59 combined years they spent in MLB (22 for Pujols, 19 for Molina, 18 for Wainwright).
