"A hero would have told everyone the plan and risked it getting back to The First Order" No, a hero would have instilled confidence and loyalty from her team when they're in the most hopeless, darkest hour without having to tell everyone every detail of the plan. Again, Poe didn't need to know exactly what the plan was, he just wanted assurance that they were not going to all die in the cold vacuum of space due to the incompetence of a woman with more responsibility than she was prepared to handle

4:30 this point is stupid and I will now dismantle it: Holdo is worried about spies on the ship, okay. This is a valid concern, so what she should do is take Po and ONLY PO aside into a room she's certain isn't being spied on, explain the plan to him, and tell him to inform the other uneasy rebels that there is a plan and to be ready for orders. This, coming from Po whom they trust and respect, would set them at ease. "Uuuuhm, but like, what if she suspects Po is Acktually the traitor?!" Then she's a moron. Po just led a sewerslide mission as the tip of the spear which ended in the destruction of an invaluable imperial asset, this mission could have EASILY resulted in his death at any point by sheer coincidence or friendly fire. This means that if he IS a traitor, he's not just being offered some cash, it means he would HAVE to be a First Order ZEALOT to risk such a dangerous mission. Po is quite obviously NOT a First Order Zealot, because they've all known him for years and had zero reason to suspect as much from him, especially considering he'd have had a great many opportunities to betray them before now. TLDR: There's no possible explanation for why not explaining the plan makes sense.
@LuckyTheReviewer16 сағат бұрын
Not only that, a couple of days before this, Po was entrusted to go and retrieve crucial info about where Luke was. There is nothing between the Force Awakens and TLJ that would make Po being a mole for the First Order make any sense meaning the mole thing would have had to been an issue prior to the events of TFA which just makes them sending Po to retrieve this info on where Luke fucking Skywalker is suppose to be even dumber because if you suspected he was a mole for the First Order this whole time why would you send him to retrieve the data. And if the mole thing was because they believed he may have been compromised when he got captured in TFA, why wasn't that something you checked when he got back to the rebel base off screen in TFA? Surely making sure one of your best pilots has not been compromise by the enemy would be a very important thing to do once he got back. You wouldn't send a pilot you suspect may be compromise on an attack to destroy the Starkiller base, when he could potentially turn against your forces and prevent the base from being destroyed thus dooming you all, right? That would be silly.
@beowulfsrevenge436915 сағат бұрын
On top of destroying the dreadnought. Poe played a key role in the destruction of Starkiller base not long before. If Poe is the mole, which is just a ridiculous leap of logic, then his mission has to be more than just a simple sabotage mission cause he's had ample opportunity to severely damage the Rebellion. Which he hasn't done yet.

Jumping on the Holdo slap down once more. I'm still convinced she's worse than people realise. I've been getting into arguments while trying to wrap my head around the Raddus's chain of command. Holdo is the fleets flag officer. Okay. Who is the ships rank officer then? Because flag officers give orders THROUGH rank officers. It appears to be Poe. Holdo doesn't just destroy morale, she dissolves the Raddus's chain of command. The resistance as an organisation doesn't exist past this point. It's just a girlboss and her personal captives. Protect the fucking light indeed.
@nisonatic9 сағат бұрын
Yeah, Poe is a captain, so he's about as senior in rank as aviators get. The whole dispute with him and Leia over the dreadnought simply wouldn't happen, because they'd be in agreement over mission priorities. And, given all the bombers they sent, they had clearly decided to engage the dreadnought. A guy like Rian Johnson just can't write senior officers. The situations, attitudes, dialogue, none of it works.

@ericchung31775 сағат бұрын
The fighting in 4 was so slow and unenergetic because the battery-powered spinning reflective blades the sabers had for 4 were super fragile and would snap if you actually smacked them together. To remedy this, George and the gang replaced them with simple metal poles in the hilts and let the actors and stuntmen wail on each other, hence the much more lively fights in the rest of the series.

Imagine watching the ESB with someone who complains: - how AT-ATs are stupid camel-like boxy machines, how defeating them with towing cables was unrealistic, - how the damsel Luke saved in original Star Wars was stolen from him by bad boy Han, - how Luke in general is presented as a soyak and loser, losing nearly every confrontation, and being made fun of by a Muppet, - how the entire chase sequence through asteroid field is stupid, without Falcon shooting back, with asteroids in unrealistic distances and with stupid space worms - how Han hiding Falcon by attaching itself to command tower of a Star Destroyer was beyond nonsensic, - how "No, I am your father" reveal destroyed the characters of Luke, Obi-wan, Vader and the Jedi as a whole at the same time, - etc, etc. All of the above is technically true... if you are super mean-spirited about your criticism. I bet you would not have a lot of fun with that person. You would end up either agreeing with this individual to fit the mold... or call that person what they are - a true killjoy. Listen I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy but aren't force users the only ones that can use lightsabers so effectively are force sensitives. Yes I'm aware there are exceptions to that rule. However, that's not relevant in this scene. Force sensitives use the force to sense things around them especially living things so with that being said can someone either correct me or explain why People with the ability to use to force couldn't fight like this or why Maul couldn't fight like he does. Given the rules established in the story of starwars i dont understand the reason why this couldn't work.
@luke_425214 сағат бұрын
The throne room fight scene has blunder after blunder from a choreography perspective that cannot be explained by "they have the force". The guards repeatedly either deliberately miss swings, swing directly for Rey or Kylo's lightsabers (including that one moment where Kylo rams his saber into the floor for some reason and a guard then deliberately swings at that), or otherwise behave incompetently. Rey somehow managed to kick three guards back in different directions despite only connecting with one of them (force-shockwave kick is not a thing, don't pretend like it is), Kylo misses multiple openings because he decided to punch the armoured guardsmen instead of going for a lethal strike with his saber, Rey stands there helplessly while a whip-sword is wrapped around her saber when she could simply point it in front of her and step backwards to release it, and let's not forget a whole entire weapon vanishes into thin air over a couple of frames because otherwise the guard holding it would have stabbed Rey. No part of this fight scene was good.

In terms of Maul, as a Sith Assassin who has precog and is trying to throw off an enemy his dual sided lightsaber is completely practical once he has practiced enough to master using it.
