THEIR STORIES WERE FUNNY, SAD, EMOTIONAL AND ALWAYS WITHIN EACH STORY ONE DERIVED WISDOM. FOR SURE WHEN ONE IS YOUNG WISDOM ISN'T UNDERSTOOD, BUT AT THE YEARS PROGRESS, ONE IS DRAWN BACK IN ONE'S MEMORY TO STORIES THAT WERE TOLD DECADES BEFORE AND THIS HELPS TO CONNECT DOTS OF WISDOM WITHIN ONE'S MIND. I stayed away from this interview for a long time mainly because I find that really old time gangsters tend to ramble on and on whenever they speak about their experience....Boy, was I ever wrong about this. This man is giving you straight facts from beginning to end. Even the little details, he got it right. For example, in every Masseria killing that I've read, it's always the same, they allowed Joe the Boss to have one last feast and then they blew him away. That's great, but it didn't happen this way. The autopsy report showed that Joe the Boss was literally on an empty stomach when he died. They killed him before he had his meal and this is literally the first thing Mr. Sugerman mentioned when he talked about the Masseria killing....I really enjoy this interview...

john, i dodnt know how I missed not responding to your comment, i want to thank you for what you wrote, one wonderful part of old age is being an Old Timer and a guy who has lived "in the life" has a good story to tell. He doesnt have to use imagination or invent stories, he just needs to have enough gas left in the memory tank to remember it all and be prepared to share it with the younger generation especially since there's much to learn about Life from an old Timer, GOD BLESS YOU SON

Paused @ the 7:27 mark. First, I thank your guest for coming on. I'm a brown, biracial mulatto, with my white side German-American. Yes, from from the history I have read the Eastern European Jews that first came to the USA arrived impoverished and formed the early gangsters and boxers (prize fighters) along with the likes of the Irish and Italians in the ghettos. The term ghetto originated as reference to the areas Jews in Europe lived in. I'm not sure if your guest goes on to mention this or not but the Jews arriving to the USA from Western Europe, mostly Germany I believe mostly immediately moved into the American middle-class. The Jews of Western Europe were mostly Reformed (Reformation) Jews whereas the Jews of Eastern Europe were mostly Orthodox Jews. The two originally did not get along. The Jewish Reformation began in Germany just like the Christian Reformation began in Germany. However, the Jewish Reformation was a left wing theological movement so far as I can tell, where in contrast the Christian Reformation was a right wing theological movement. The Jewish Reformation was in part inspired by a desire to emulate the cultural and intellectual progress of the Christian West both Catholic and Protestant (the oldest scientific organization in the world is gathered under the Catholic Vatican). It was your Jews from Western Europe that came to the USA and became university professors, unlike the Eastern European Jews who arrived and became gangsters, bootleggers, and boxers. Nota bene: on Martin Luther of the Reformation, which should be called Revolt. Lucifer revolted against God and 1/3 the angels, kind of like 1/3 the American colonist who in treason revolted against English Crown. Martin Luther was a Priest and monk who betrayed his vows (we who served in the military took oaths). Helped some nun flee a convent and that had sexual relations with her. Today he would also likely be diagnosed as bipolar if he were alive. The way Martin Luther spoke about Jews probably exceeded that or equaled that of another German that would come centuries later: Adolf Hitler. Luther's commentary seemed to encourage violence against the Jews. What was one of the things he said, that to baptize a Jew he would, and I paraphrase, "throw him off a bridge into a river..." Martin Luther was also delusional. He was a real nutjob. I refuse to honor or venerate that disturbed wacko as some benevolent saint. It's tantamount in my opinion to Americans carrying out propaganda to raise Charles Manson out to be a "woke" saint, as a heroic rebel, by distorting the record and biography of this guy into some soft, tender, guy faithful to his oaths but for truly seeking God via "following only the Bible." I'm sure Charles Manson rejects Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity and interprets the Bible on his own too. And guess what? I give a dam_ if he does. (I type this NOT as a saint but as someone enslaved in sin who has not attended mass in ages.)
